The tale of the cat at night - A Christmas TaleAn orphan wanders aimlessly through the forlorn streets of the town at night. It's so cold that her breath comes out in hazy vapours and slowly vanishes into the night sky. It has been snowing all week and her feet skid over the ice covered stones every now and then.
She is not older than thirteen and all alone, freezing horribly, but there is nowhere to go. She has no home, no family, no relations to rely upon.
It has been days since she's eaten until she was full and all that remains is the end of a sausage, which was given to her by the butcher a few days ago. It's not much, but she'll have to live from it for some more days.
