Dalek Week : ObsessionIn the days following the destruction of Goliath, Alek was hardly given a moment of peace. Once it went public that Alek had been the one to shut down the machine, reporters, and even a few politicians, swarmed his New York City hotel, seeking audience with the young prince. Volger had kept most of the paparazzi at bay, but had allowed a few distinguished journalists to interview Alek for posterity.Dalek Week : Obsession1 year ago in General Fiction More Like This
Most nights Alek barely made it to the bed before falling asleep, but tonight he was wide awake. A telegram had arrived earlier in the day, stating that the Admiralty had approved his medal for bravery in the air, and that the Leviathan was on

VocabularyHigh in a tree, the former Prince of Austria-Hungary and the much decorated Midshipman Deryn Sharp were having an interesting discussion. At the very least, the discussion was interesting to Bovril. To the humans, and especially to Alek, it was merely some exellent end of the day banter; an old past-time for the pair. He was feeling especially tired today, and was especially glad when Deryn had suggested a trip to the park.Vocabulary9 months ago in Romance More Like This
Working for Dr. Barlow was hard work, especially since now he had to alternate between being a diplomat-slash-spy and a translation machine. Who knew how many Darwinists had written old manuscripts in one of the many lang

Thousands of miles away, Deryn leans back in her chair, rummaging for more crisps. "I don't know, daftie. It's your sidequest."
He checks the word describing the hatched egg. "It's 'perspicacious'. What does that mean?"
She Googles it. " 'Clever'."
"I was expecting something like 'ferocious'."
She grins. "Babies surprise you, Da."
He straightens, indignant. "I'm not its father!"
"Right. You hatched it, so really, you're its mum."
He glares; she winks; defeated, he sighs. "Shall we invade Istanbul now?"
She grabs more crisps. "Aye, Ma, let's."

Sleep Detail(s)The former Prince of Austria-Hungary feels incredibly lucky. At the end of a very long day, he is curled up in bed next to the most wonderful person he knows. With his face right close against hers in their darkened bedroom, he can just make out some freckles and the sweep of her pale blonde eyelashes. Her breathing is deep and even. She almost always falls asleep before he does. He sometimes likes to pretend it's because he has more on his mind than she does, but he knows that isn't really true. She's as much of a tactician as he is. She's got plenty to look back on with terror, too.Sleep Detail(s)9 months ago in Romance More Like This

The Once-ler leaned back in his massive, red velvet chair and dragged a hand across his forehead in frustration. Today had been one of those days where everything had gone wrong. It had gone so wrong, in fact, he didn't even want to think about it anymore. He opened his blue eyes and huffed loudly, before leaning forward, and reached for his Martini glass that sat in the centre of his desk but stopped, hand oustretched, not even near touching the glass.
" Norma what have I told you about getting into my drinks?" he asked, a small, easy smile on his face as he rested his head in his hand.
Sitting in the drink sat a tiny lady, and

The old Once-ler stood in his kitchen, taking a slow sip of his hot tea. The steam lifted from the cup, the smell of the rich flavour welcomed to a man who had gone decades without it. Funny that, in all his life, he never would have thought he would miss the simplest pleasure like drinking tea as badly as he had during his solitude. So many little things he had missed, like the feel of grass beneath his feet, the warmth of the sun on his face, a gentle breeze through his hair
He had long accepted that he may never experience any of these things again. Least of all seeing a Truffula tree again, seeing those softer than silk tufts, smel

"Are you well, my dear? You look... To put lightly, rather dazed. You act as though this is your first galla, Lord Watchet." A young unicorn, with a pink coat and violet beehive-like styled mane spoke. She arched her brow at the young stallion next to her, who was busy gawking after a young yellow coated pegasis wearing a spring themed gown with little flowers decorating her pink mane. He snapped himself out of it, realizing the mare was talking to him.
"My apologies, Rosaline. I was lost in thought. As you were saying?" He looked to the mare attentively, glancing to the direction the pegasis left every now and again. He started w

He hadn't had expected to find a flower quite like this one.
Once-ler had been enjoying a walk through the valley, whistling to himself, arms swinging by his sides and had been thoroughly content with life and what it had handed him. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the fish were humming it was more or less the perfect day. That's when he came across a little clearing in the forest, and spotted a flittle pink flower growing out of the middle of absolutely nothing
There weren't other flowers around it, or bushes, unlike the other flowers he had happened across whilst waling through the valley. In fact, the flower looked mor

Ted didn't like thinking about how much time had passed since that day that would live on forever in the history of the until recently named Thneedville. He was twenty four years old now, a strapping young man with the kind of height his grandfather would be proud of. He was lean, muscular where it mattered but not overly so. Unfortunately, as he had gotten older, and spent so much time reading and studying for his degree in business college he had ended up needed glasses.
His mother blamed his genetics, but Ted didn't mind that much. "They make me look smarter!" he had joked the day he'd gotten his rectangle glasses from the eye doctor. The

"I'm fine Oncie, Cindy was sick today, but I'm sure I didn't get it. Now let's hurry and get going. You know Helen has been looking forward to this. It's her first party that she gets to go to." Norma said as she stood up, only to fall forward instead.
"Woah!" Once-ler caught her before she fell, but she looked even worse now "That's it. Let me help you change and you are going to bed." Once-ler sat her on the bed while he got her

Life Fades QuietlyOnce-ler had been unusually tired since getting up that morning. He'd gone about his usual routine of breakfast and tidying up with shuffling steps. The movements were more difficult. The Lorax noticed immediately and chalked it up to exhaustion from a late night before. The old man had slept little, his thin frame shaken with the painful hacking of dirtied lungs.Life Fades Quietly10 months ago in Drama More Like This
He was still coughing throughout the morning, even as he shuffled through the yard to tend the tiny saplings springing through the new grass. He paused every few moments, coughed into his fist, and sighed under the watchful gaze of the guardian.
The Lorax worried only a little, un
