Problem Struck Chapter 1Problem StruckProblem Struck Chapter 14 years ago in Profiles More Like This
"DERYN!" Alek shouted as he shook her limp body trying to wake her up, get her to talk, or do something.
Alek's arm landed on a small box as he continued to shake Deryn (as if that would help) and knocked it over. The clattering helped Alek see through his panic and look at what box he had knocked over.
"God's wounds," Alek breathed as he saw that this box was Deryn's smelling salts, "This could barking work!"
He opened the box and waved it under her nose trying to spread the sharp smell to wake Deryn up. Finally Deryn opened her eyes and Alek sighed with relief, "Thank providence that you're alright, Deryn! I thought you had just died! Are you all right?"
"Oooooohhhh... Alright isn't the right word here, I think," Deryn managed to get out before hurling right on the bed.
"Schiesse! What's the matter Deryn?" Shouted Alek and began to spout off all kinds of Austrian swears.
Deryn looked up at Alek and whispered breathing hard, "Get... get... Dr... Barl...Barl...

Deryn's first thoughts were, "Wh-where a-am I?" then, "W-what's going on?" and finally, "Am I KISSING ALEK?!?!" Her eyes snapped open and she pulled away from Alek shocked at what she did now. Her head pounded, but she managed to get out, "Wh-what were you DOING Alek?"
Alek leaned back looking shocked, as he saw Deryn wince from her pounding ribs and head, but managed to compose himself and reply, "Y-you're alive, Dyl- erm, what's your true name?"
Deryn stared at him, unable to process that Alek knew who she really was, answering, "Deryn, and how did you know that I'm a barking girl?!"
Alek blushed, whispering, "Y-you were hurt so I-"
Alek broke off blushing furiously as Deryn understood what had happened and replied in her girl voice, "So you know, and hate me, at this point that you've seen what I've kept from you all these months," Deryn sighed and hung her head, "I-I... I'm sorry Alek, but I thought that because I was a commoner I wouldn't matter t
Love The Way You LieHe had this habit of always coming back. He thought of it as coming home. But it was always the same routine. One comment, one sentence, a word, a fight, a strike, on the floor, screaming and crying with tears flowing harder than anything, slamming doors and broken hearts and abandoned promises.Love The Way You Lie1 month ago in Drama More Like This
He would leave every time, or be left. He would break down, sliding down the wall with his back to the cool surface, breaking down and pouring his soul into his battered cries. He would cradle his bruising cheek, rub the raw marks around his neck, try to make them go away.
They never did.
But he had this habit of always coming back. It didn’t matter how often he was hurt, didn’t matter how many hurtful words were spit in his face. It didn’t matter, the acid burning at his heart and eating away his essence. Because he always crawled back, begging for something he ultimately knew he couldn’t have.
All he had ever wanted was to feel loved. To be accepted. To be needed and w
Cry When No One Is Watching (Sasuke)"Oi, Sasuke-kun... No more tears, ne?" The soft smile lit up the Jonin's face, reaching to his eyes and closing them pleasantly. The brunette sniffed heavily, wiping under his eyes with the back of his hand. "I didn't think anyone was here," he admitted, tone thick and heavy and humiliated. Some strong shinobi he was, breaking down crying in the middle of the woods at night like a lost child. He should have been more attentive, should have realized his old teacher was right there.
"Well I am, Sasuke," Kakashi responded after a moment's silence. His tone spoke of hidden promises and assurances beyond that of literal sense. "I've always been here."
The Uchiha chose to ignore the way his chest tightened and his eyes burned, fighting back more tears even as he began to lose. "I've missed you all," he suddenly choked out, turning to Kakashi with a st

The young woman looked up at your voice, cheeks reddened from the cold—or possibly from the young brunette standing just behind her, hanging onto her waist with both arms, and nuzzling his cold nose into the crown of her head. Giggling quietly as he muttered something into her ear, she waved you over to her. “What is it (y/n)-chan?”
You jogged over to the shivering pair standing just outside the clinic; Sasuke must have just picked Sakura up from work. “Sakura have you seen Lee?” A gloved hand brushed thick hair from in front of your (e/c) eyes as you looked around hopefully.
“No, sorry I haven’t,” the pink-haired young woman responded, shaking her head as best she could while Sasuke’s face was still buried in her hair. “Why, did you need him?” She swatted a hand at the coal-eyed young man distractedly when he laid a small

“Well I would,” you explained amicably, brushing [h/c] locks from your face, “but I really hate chewing the skin. It gets stuck in my teeth and makes my jaw hurt and it just doesn’t taste good.”
“But I thought you loved apples.” Choji set the ships next to the basket with an almost forlorn look. Although you didn’t know it, he had brought apples of every color on the picnic just for you.
“Oh I do love apples!” you amended quickly, cheeks tingeing a light shade of pink. To think that the boy you’d always had a crush on had noticed such a small detail… “It’s just that the skin—”
“Well I’ll peel it for you.”

The fire crackled nicely in front of him, drowsiness threatening to take over again. He stood and stretched, then headed out the door of his quarters. Someone ran into him just then, nrealy sending him flying.
"Watch it! - Oh! Sorry Dad!" the young boy ran to Alek and hugged him. Alek laughed and ruffled the boy's hair.
"Where exactly are you headed off to in such a rush, Jaspert Volger?" Alek asked, holding the boys shoulders.
"Out to the courtyard. Master Klopp told me he would let me take a few steps around in the runabout today!"
Alek studied his son's excited face. He looked so much like his mother, sharp fine features and bright blue eyes, but dark hair like his father. His eyes sparked with excitement, and his smile was as charming as anything.
"Alright, get along now. Remember, you've got a few lessons this evening with Dr. Barlow tonight"
Little Jaspert sighed, looking annoyed.
Chapter 2 EditThe next few days were extremely difficult for Alek. He couldn't keep his mind off Deryn. Each time he looked at her he noticed just how feminie she was. It was amazing that no one else noticed. When he wasn't with her, he was wishing he was.Chapter 2 Edit4 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Even more amazing was how attracted he was to her after only knowing her true gender for less than a week. It was like he'd known her his whole life. Well, he really had. Before coming to the Leviathan, it was like his life was a blur, a dream that never really existed at all. She was the only friend he'd ever really had. He felt completed when he was with her.
"What are you doing, you fool?" Deryn snapped at him as they were walking Tazza together one evening. Alek had absentmindedly reached for her hand, and she had to slap it away.
"Sorry, sorry. I am." he said, angry that he had let himself slip like that.
"You know how that would look to others, bum-rag. I don't need people thinking anything else along with what the already most likely do."

"Lilit, whatever this is, can't it wait until I get out of work? I'm trying to make myself a living - "
"Quiet, we're almost there"
Alek made a face but continued on. It best be important ot drag her halfway across the world looking for him. Soon she ducked inside the doorway of an abandoned apartment building. Alek was almost out of breath, not having ran like that since being aboard the Leviathan. Lilit looked fine however, even in her black silk clothes.
"What's this about? How in the world did you find me?" Alek sat, catching his breath.
Lilit sat next to him, smiling. "I just had to know where to look."
He looked at her incredulously. "Seriously. How?"
She laughed, her face looking very tired, and much older than she remembered. "As soon as Nene heard of your 'death', she laughed. She knew there was no way you could ever be dead. She told me she suspected it would be too much fo
Chapter 5 "Familiar Faces"Alek looked up from his paper, setting it down on the table in front of him. A nasty cold breeze was coming in through the window, making him shiver. He stood, walking across the beautiful floor to shut it, drawing the curtains.Chapter 5 "Familiar Faces"4 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
"Deryn, have you read the paper yet?" he called out. Footsteps sounded from the other room, and Deryn entered. She was wearing trousers and a buttoned up shirt, hair cropped short as ever.
"No, why? Something good?" her eyes were bright.
"Yes, actaully, I think you'll find it amusing." he handed her the news, crossing his arms and watching her as she read the front page.
Her face went from curiosity to astonishment. "Blisters, Alek, your a genious! How did you know?" she looked up at him, amazed.
Alek chuckled. "I know Volger about as well as I know myself. The wildcount gets what he wants. He wasn't going to let a little thing like my 'death' stop him from finishing the wishes of my father. Volger is a loyal man, I suspected he might go this far."

Deryn entered her private chambers, exhausted from three days of nonstop work on the Leviathan. Finally she was able to take a few minutes to change out of her sweaty uniform and change into something more appropriate. She sighed, remembering that they'd arrive to Japan the very next day and Alek would vanish from the Leviathan forever. He would probably vanish into the wilderness and somehow find a way back to the main land and hideout until this barking daft war would be over. Deryn shook her head, clearing her thoughts of Alek from her mind, reminding herself that he was a barking prince -that's archduke you dummkopf!- and she was a lowly mooneye-eyed lassie that served as an airman. She couldn't fall for him; she couldn't, unless she wanted him to run a mile. Anyway once Alek was gone, so would her feelings for him, too. Deryn put on a determined look on her face and chased away all thoughts of Alek that entered her mind.

"Come on Dylan, it would be fun!" Alek pleaded, almost nearly bow down to him, just to accept the offer.
"No barking way! That's sounds stupid!!"
Alek raised his head, "PPPLLLEEAASSSEEE!!!!"
Dylan shook his head, Alek knew that Dylan had a weakness, and that weakness was begging.
Dylan sighed, annoyed, and wanted to get out of there.
"Fine! But it's for fun! Got it?!"
Alek nodded, and went to the dusty book shelf, grabbed a big, old decorated book, filled with endless words, covering the pages with German.
"Okay, here's who you're playing, Benvolio, Tybalt, nurse, and "
Alek spread a smile across his face.
Dylan's eyes widen
"NO BARKING WAY! I'm not playing a girl!"
Alek shrugged "oh, well. Here's who I'm playing. Let's see, um Prince,"
"I wanted to play him, you play Juliet!"
Alek looked at him, He chuckled.
"Well, no. You don't get to, I do. Besides, you have a pretty high voice; you can play a girl easily."

His eyes slowly got used to the murky darkness and he noticed the ceiling above him was made of crude stone. Water was dripping from it and onto the floor beneath him, which he guessed was stone as well, judging by the craggy surface under his body. He wanted to sit up but his arms were so heavy he couldn't even budge them.

The boys voice cut right through his, a smile on his face. "Tell me one thing right now, Alek" he looked Alek square in the eye, and he gulped, gripping hte fabricated leather that bound him into the seat, his knuckles white. "Do you trust me?"
Of course he trusted Dylan. He had kept Alek's secrets since they met. But this was not a matter of trust, it was a matter of life or death, or so it felt to Alek.
"Yes. I trust you." he told Dylan earnestly.
"Then listen to me when I say you'll be fine." he patted the yellow object in Alek's hand. "Just release this semaphore flag if something goes wrong, or if you get the clart scared out of you." Dylan smirked. "I'll be down here watching and I'll haul you down in a squick."
And with that Alek was climbing, no, flying. The small seat he was strapped to swung sickeningly as the godless creature Dylan called a Huxley rose into the air. Alek barely dared to watch as Dylan and the top of the Leviathan

Too many times had he knocked you down. Sure, it was just training, but it felt as true as any defeat every time. All it took for him to catch you off guard and throw you to the foot-trodden dirt and packed earth was a swift kick, or a charge, or the swipe of a clenched and well-aimed fist. It would connect, or you would dodge improperly, and you would go flying from the force. Or, worse, you would land heavily just in front of him, wind knocked from your lungs and tears pricking your eyes.

Not to mention, the way your professor was droning on seemed to only be lulling you into a trance-like state rather than keeping you awake. Mr. Hatake’s nonchalant disposition and lazily lilting voice had always had that effect on you. The Claxton bell was ringing its head off but there was nobody in the corridor, as Alek jogged over to a gut hatch and peeked out to see what the commotion was all about. The whine of engines pierced the air and Alek understood that they were ambushed by aeroplanes.
"Bumsen!" Alek cried, and listened closer. There was something missing from the usual sounds the Leviathan made but Alek couldn't understand what... Then it hit him.
"Dummkopf!" yelled Alek and began to climb up toward the engines, "Of course they would aim for the engines you idiot, the engines are the airships most important way of traveling! The clankers should know that by now from the sultan in the Ottoman empire!" Alek climbed faster reaching the walker cabin, and peeked in to see what the problem was. What met his eyes was beyond what he imagined; Klopp was unconscious and Mr. Hirst was tending to him.
"Mr. Hirst, what happened here?" Alek yelled.

Romeo and Juliet Part 2Deryn couldn't believe that Alek wanted to her to play Juliet. Juliet! Out of all the characters in that thing! She had to get Juliet, A Capulet who falls in love with Romeo, and they get married the next day! Why on earth did they get married the next day anyway? Deryn sighed. Who knows she thought.
