Chapter 1-DerynDeryn couldn't believe what shed said to him. How could I have been so stupid!, she thought, storming into her cabin and slamming the door. "Fool! I'm a bloody fool!" she yelled, stomping over to her bed and throwing herself on it, burying her face under her pillow. There she sobed for a good twenty minutes, unable to help herself.
She hadn't ment to be so rude. She was jsut fed up with Alek tryign to pry things out of her. She couldn't tell him her secret, even though it was tearing her up inside to keep it from him. It was only fair that he knew, seeing as he had told her jsut abotu everything. But if he knew she wasn't a boy....she was sure he'd flip over the moon and never speak to her again.
When she'd finally had her fill of girly nonsense, she changed into her work clothes and ran up onto the ships topside, pushing every single thought of the prince ot hte back of her he

"And I don't ever-" her mother's voice screeched with fury, her plump face turning a ruddy color with anger to match her daughter's.
"Ma, this is my passion! Ever since Da died- " Deryn sputtered out.
"No. Don't you say a word, young lady. Passion has nothing to do with it! A young woman such as yourself doesn't go hop on some warship and come back like like this!" Mrs. Sharp vigorously waved her flour-stained palms in Deryn's direction, and Deryn could do nothing but hang her head in shame.
Another set of eyes had been watching this scene, taking in the childish bickering. The brunette knew better than to get between a mother and her offspring, so he forced himself not to make a sound and drew himself to the farthest corner of the table.

The boys voice cut right through his, a smile on his face. "Tell me one thing right now, Alek" he looked Alek square in the eye, and he gulped, gripping hte fabricated leather that bound him into the seat, his knuckles white. "Do you trust me?"
Of course he trusted Dylan. He had kept Alek's secrets since they met. But this was not a matter of trust, it was a matter of life or death, or so it felt to Alek.
"Yes. I trust you." he told Dylan earnestly.
"Then listen to me when I say you'll be fine." he patted the yellow object in Alek's hand. "Just release this semaphore flag if something goes wrong, or if you get the clart scared out of you." Dylan smirked. "I'll be down here watching and I'll haul you down in a squick."
And with that Alek was climbing, no, flying. The small seat he was strapped to swung sickeningly as the godless creature Dylan called a Huxley rose into the air. Alek barely dared to watch as Dylan and the top of the Leviathan

Leviathan: A picture for a prince
Just a small intro. Deryn/Dylan Sharp and Prince Alecksander Ferdinand are on board the leviathan heading towards the Ottoman Empire. A surprise request from Aleck gets Deryn/ Dylan to realize her true feelings for him. Rated pg-13 for later chapters.
(I might go to four chapters at most, also keep in mind there is a change of point of view and that the book just came out in October. This fanfic is a test run for future fanfics later on)
Alek walked along the great air ship that was the Leviathan. His now rubber soles clanked against the metal walkways of the ships spine. The whole crew seemed to be a little on edge whenever he and his men walked about with their "highly flammable" shoes. Until finally to put them all at ease they borrowed some rubber shoes that were necessary if you were to walk along the great ship.
After receiving the shoes Alek decided to head to the backside of the creature or "dorsal" as he learned later it

"Of course, Sou."
The little boy calmly walked to his father's side, small hand instantly coming up to clutch at his father's ever-bandaged fingers. He turned a serious expression to the older brunette—an expression Sou had definitely gotten from his daddy—and asked, "Why do you go to the memorial every day?"
Sasuke's eyes widened fractionally at the question. Of course, his son was very sharp. That was a trait both he and Sakura had given to all of their children and he could not be more grateful. But after years of explaining away his absence in the early mornings, that was a question he hadn't expected.
"You wanna know why I go to the memorial huh?" he echoed, a mysterious smile taking root on his pale lips. He looked up from the boy to gaze out the window he was standing just in front of; the window with the perfe

The greeting echoed emptily off the small apartment walls, no one there to hear it but him. Dust covered everything in a fine layer again... Had he really been gone that long? A month didn't feel so far away anymore.
Cerulean eyes wandered aimlessly over the sparse furniture, picking out individual pieces of dust floating in the shafts of light created by the blinds covering his window. Everything was the same as he'd left it, nothing out of place; not that he had expected any less.
The blonde sighed heavily, slouching back against the door he had just entered through. Still the same... Which went for everything. Same village, no troubles. Same drive and still no Sasuke.
His breaths were heavy with remorse and defeat as Naruto gazed emptily out through those broken window eyes. He had failed once more to bring his friend back. It was nothing new, but the wound still wept crimson tears.
Every mission had been such a strain on him lately. It didn't matter how simpl

If you need to fight, I will be there to fight back.
I will be your light and your dark, if only you let me.

Send me off, and off I go.

Sasuke looked over his head with a smile as he felt strong arms come up over his shoulders from behind. Naruto looked like he had just awoken--circles under his eyes not yet faded, eyes glassy, hair a bit of a mess. But he was smiling the most beautiful smile the man had ever seen.
"Just finishing up some last minute paperwork so we can have the rest of our vacation to ourselves," he replied in a contented hum, accepting the gracious, lazy kiss that was pressed to his lips. His chest hummed while his skin sang pleasantly of the touch.
"Well then hurry up and come back to bed," Naruto languidly returned. "I'm feelin' lazy and I got some things I think I need to give ya." His tone was sultry and sleepy and everything perfect in Sasuke's world.
Before the blonde could slip his arms back off of Sasuke's shoulders, the older man caught his left hand and brought it back to his lips. He gave the blonde a meaningful, upside-down

Deryn entered her private chambers, exhausted from three days of nonstop work on the Leviathan. Finally she was able to take a few minutes to change out of her sweaty uniform and change into something more appropriate. She sighed, remembering that they'd arrive to Japan the very next day and Alek would vanish from the Leviathan forever. He would probably vanish into the wilderness and somehow find a way back to the main land and hideout until this barking daft war would be over. Deryn shook her head, clearing her thoughts of Alek from her mind, reminding herself that he was a barking prince -that's archduke you dummkopf!- and she was a lowly mooneye-eyed lassie that served as an airman. She couldn't fall for him; she couldn't, unless she wanted him to run a mile. Anyway once Alek was gone, so would her feelings for him, too. Deryn put on a determined look on her face and chased away all thoughts of Alek that entered her mind.
The Vanity Mirror (Kankuro x Reader)Today was a really big day! For you, it was a fantastic opportunity to learn about a village you had always been enamored with. As a Konoha native, you had grown up hearing about the Village Hidden in the Sand. From merchants’ tales, to tales from the foot soldiers stopping in the Leaf after traversing the desert, you had heard a fine amount about the exotic extravagance of the village. It more than piqued your interest to hear about the spice vendors and merchants toting carpets and tapestries. To you, it seemed like a different world.
And now you were going to be able to witness a piece of that world! Festivities were scheduled to start before noon; so you readied yourself rather quickly, tossing on a simple clothing s

The silence stretched between them as the blonde contemplated his words, wind tousling his hair. He had an image to keep now, didn’t he? "Deryn, have you read the paper yet?" he called out. Footsteps sounded from the other room, and Deryn entered. She was wearing trousers and a buttoned up shirt, hair cropped short as ever.
"No, why? Something good?" her eyes were bright.
"Yes, actaully, I think you'll find it amusing." he handed her the news, crossing his arms and watching her as she read the front page.
Her face went from curiosity to astonishment. "Blisters, Alek, your a genious! How did you know?" she looked up at him, amazed.
Alek chuckled. "I know Volger about as well as I know myself. The wildcount gets what he wants. He wasn't going to let a little thing like my 'death' stop him from finishing the wishes of my father. Volger is a loyal man, I suspected he might go this far."

His eyes slowly got used to the murky darkness and he noticed the ceiling above him was made of crude stone. Water was dripping from it and onto the floor beneath him, which he guessed was stone as well, judging by the craggy surface under his body. At long last they made it, just as passengers were boarding. It was a large vessel, probably larger than the Leviathan, length-wise. They hurried up the ramps, handed their tickets over, and boarded.
Alek and Deryn contained themselves to their cabin for most of the trip, not wanting to get noticed in case someone had a keen eye. The trip was scheduled to be three weeks, so they had plenty of time to plan their next move.

You stay strong or you crumble and so help me Uzumaki I won’t see you crumble.

I am ballast
This sea of change has me submerged
From tired palms
you let me pour
into the belly
of some greater beast
where my lungs can really beg
and where unified chaos has riptide potential

Desires are incidental
Come what may
Death and decay
This man-made wheel will sink
To the bottom
it will race
all your good intentions
first to rest rusting somewhere
deep beside the long-since
oxidized pipe dreams of your youth
It's all relative to the weather
Emergent then dissolving
Here today, gone tomorrow
A flighty phoenix
Drawn close and cast away
never settled long

There are rituals in glances
Here among the tossed-aside innuendos
Let the music of time drown out
all the best laid plans
A pair of rubber gloves

"DERYN!" Alek shouted as he shook her limp body trying to wake her up, get her to talk, or do something.
Alek's arm landed on a small box as he continued to shake Deryn (as if that would help) and knocked it over. The clattering helped Alek see through his panic and look at what box he had knocked over.
"God's wounds," Alek breathed as he saw that this box was Deryn's smelling salts, "This could barking work!"
He opened the box and waved it under her nose trying to spread the sharp smell to wake Deryn up. Finally Deryn opened her eyes and Alek sighed with relief, "Thank providence that you're alright, Deryn! I thought you had just died! Are you all right?"
