This website (www.dramakoreaterbaru.com) is running a script bot that uses a search-engine like program to find your art and post it without your permission, and sometimes without any credit. There have been reports that posting your name into the search engine actually facilitates the script bot into finding your art. I don't know if that's true. There have also been reports that the ads on these image pages are rife with virus' / malware. There's also reports that these ads are being used to make money and drive traffic through the domain in order to make money off of you. I urge everyone NOT to use this site. This week I received messages from two different people (through Etsy and Storenvy) offering to make a review of my work. They splattered huge statics, like having millions of instagram followers, popularity, or having done it before and making people famous. Of course, their generosity was conditioned by me agreeing to send them some of my work for free. While I don't object the concept of reviewing someone's work, I worry that this has become a popular way of scamming artisan crafters to give away their work for free with promises of exposure and increasing their sales. I wanted to write this journal to tell everyone to be careful, specially if you're just starting your business and struggling to get noticed, it may sound tempting but you should never give away your hard work!
One of them was even more blunt and said that he could write a positive review of my work just by
PE: 5 reasons to believe in yourselfSuccess is not a measure of how much money you earn or how popular you are, rather, it is being able to find your passion - one that makes you happy and ultimately, one that you would be happy to leave as your legacy. To make a step forward to reach your dream takes smarts and guts but why couldn't you? Here is five reasons why you can.PE: 5 reasons to believe in yourself2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
1. Everyone was born equal
More-less, this is true, some people are born more challenged than others but we all possess skills and ability to learn. It is possible to build something out of nothing if we really want to. It all comes down to our preferences and decisions.
"Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent."
2. Overcoming your fears
By constantly challenging yourself, you can get rid of fears that used to follow you. You will no longer be worried, you'll know you can count on yourself.
"If you think you can, you can. If you think you can't, you're right."
Fuck you. Pay me. -- A masterpost for artists. As an artist, you probably will be approached by various people over time. Some may be looking for commissions, others will most likely be looking for free art.Fuck you. Pay me. -- A masterpost for artists.2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Here are some handy resources concerning the "free art"-people. First of all, there's this handy flowchart called "Should I Work For Free?.
If they say they'll pay you with:
-Eventual cut of the profit when profits are made
-No pay, since artists "shouldn't be sell-outs, but draw for fun"
Then run for the hills and get away as fast as you can.
Because if it's for a game, a comic or another for-profit project, the most normal response should be "Fuck you. Pay me." (worded politer, though that goes without saying).
Spec-work? -- Fuck you. Pay me.
"We don't have the budget for 20 sprite-sheets, but we'll sell this game and your name will be in the credits!" -- Fuck you. Pay me.
"We need 10 sprites / full paintings by tomorrow,
Five Tips to Starting FreelancingSo, you're tired of being unemployed. You've been stuck at home for the umpteenth month in a row, a new season of The Legend of Korra is still a year off, and your government support checks (should you be lucky to still be getting them) won't even come close to affording you a bus ticket to Everfree Northwest. Your evaluation of life is the same dissertation of tedium and monotony as Helen Keller's review of Chinese Democracy.Five Tips to Starting Freelancing2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
You know, pretty much on par with every other review of Chinese Democracy.
But know what? If you can't find a job, you'll make a job! Screw finding work, and screw the employers who keep dismissing your applications for being "over qualified" like that Bachelors of Science in Graphic Design is as detrimental to your character as being a registered felon. Screw them and that stupid help wanted sign at Quiznos. Now you're freelancing, baby.

Get Better At Drawing (Without Drawing Anything)Art is a process.Get Better At Drawing (Without Drawing Anything)3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Like that of the scientific method and philosophical alchemy, art can be refined and improved through process. From observation, to experiment, to reflection and conclusion, art is improved by the steps we make towards change, not solidification and stagnation. Much of the advice out there for drawing is simply practice or avoid distractions. This advice is good, but there is more to creation than just throwing yourself mindlessly into a task and avoiding bad habits along the way. Good habits and knowledge will help to excel your learning process faster, and from that, improve faster and more effectively.
Look at it
As an artist, observation is key. The skill we develop is not just seeing, but interpreting what we see, remembering what we have seen and recording it in the form of visual art. This is a skill that, aside from blindness or vision degradation, you will be able to improve during your entire life. The way of seeing from an art

Why you feature stolen work?!?!Lately there seem to have been a few myths flying around in particular with regards to how we as Community Volunteers, give Daily Deviations. Many people seem to think that we sit at our desks in dark little rooms and let out evil laughter whilst we purposefully feature stolen work. The dark rooms and laughter - well I can't say yes or no on that one! But I can promise you it's not our intent to give exposure to people who have stolen work. I recently featured a piece of work that turned out to be stolen. However I went into extensive conversations with the artist before I featured it, and with added metadata and dates, it's difficult to know where to draw the line. I've given people the benefit of the doubt before - and it's worked out nicely as their work has been legitimate. Below are some comments I have seen being thrown around the past few days - and hopefully an attempt to bust the myth. Why you feature stolen work?!?!2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This

There is quite a bit of confusion about copyright law, the DMCA, fair use, de minimus, etc. And rightly so. [Dec. 3rd] updated the Q&A section.
The poll I posted months ago said you guys wanted a Qilin universe contest, so here it is! :'D FINALLY!
This contests' theme is the Four Seasons, meaning that you will have to draw one (or more!) of the three main characters in a seasonal setting of some sort. This can be a holiday theme, or simply weather or clothing design appropriate to the season you pick.
All you have to do is draw and upload your picture to your gallery. Any medium is welcome. Once it's up, send me a note with a link or thumbnail to your image.
I will then add it to a folder called 'Four Seasons Contest' in my favourites, where all entries will be.
That way you can keep track, even if I don't reply to your note directly. C:
The deadline is February 2nd 2012, I will judge the entries and announce the winners within the following week.

Lots of artists on dA do Points Commissions, also known as PCs, which involve creating art or design for other people on request in return for Points. Here are just a few of them...
If you're looking for a specific type of commission, simply use Ctrl+F, type in what you want (literature, drawing, polymer clay, digital, animation, colouring, icons, logos, design, tutorials, stamps, emotes, vector, 3D, pixel dolls, photography, photomanipulation, space art, terragen, digital art, journal skins, journal scripts, wallpapers, comics, fractals, journal css, gallery css, cosmetic application, craft) and your browser will do the hard work for you!

Since that time, we've grown to be the world's largest online art community, but even a site as massive and established as deviantART had to start somewhere. For this year's community event, we're embracing the idea of starting small and creating something amazing from just a few quick sketches. We've started this work for you and challenge you to finish it with the pizzazz that only the best art community in the world co

(Please note, I'm not necessarily talking about deviantart's critique system, though this certainly applies to it. I'm talking about all feedback, whether in comments or notes, in person, or on another site. Deviantart simply has a good format for others to leave feedback to an artist.)
In art school, you tend two get two different types of young artists: people who are infatuated with their work, and people who have no confidence in it at all. But really, it all boils down to the same thing: as artists, we are incredibly reliant on other people's judgement of our work for our self-esteem. It sounds a bit stupid, but I don't know that I've talked to any serious business artists who say otherwise (though if you do, please tell me). Artists often view their work as an extension of themselves, or their soul, poured out on paper. We seek other people's approval, b

How to : Find Art ThievesPlease this journal, so that a lot of people can read it.How to : Find Art Thieves2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I noticed that a lot of people don't know how to search for their photos on the internet, so here is a short tutorial. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about art thieves, but i still think it is important to look out for them.
1. visit Google.com
2. Go to the page of the photo you want to search and click "show image"
3. Copy the Link and paste it into google.
4. This page should open, click "search by image".
5. Now you can browse trough the results.
6. The less results the happier you should be.
EDIT : You can also use websites like : tineye.com and iqdb.com
This was pointed out to me by some people, personally i have no experience with them, but i am sure that they work too.
