A cloak for my No.1 Brother ~Viper-Monkey-Girl inspired by designs of nurse cloaks from the first world war. This is a practical winter garment.
The outer and facings are a black wool/mohair blend. The lining and straps are red cotton. The buttons have also been covered using the same red cotton so that they match. The centre front, facings, collar and hem have all been interfaced with a mid-weight woven fusing. The buttons and button holes were all hand sewn. The hem was also hand finished.
The cloak fastens a number of ways; the shoulder straps can either be tied at the front or crossed over and buttoned at the back. There is a hook+eye at the base of the neck and there are 5 buttons down the centre front, which are hidden on the inside.
Forgot to upload this one, back in november. I saw a similar pendant around, just decided to add some potterian details. You can recognise bertie botts every flavor beans, a chocolate frog, and a pumpkin pasty next to the owl ( which actually resembles a normal pumpkin because well, I guess I was inspired by the videogames)
Advent Calendar (with 31 compartments, so it can be used in ANY month) based on Tolkien's "The Hobbit" -- I made this with a wide variety of materials including watercolor, colored pencil, ink (including gold and silver ink), card stock and an assortment of papers, matboard, and lots and lots of patience with scissors, glue, and exacto knife. Each window or door opens onto a little compartment; compartments vary in depth -- from right at the surface of the calendar to an inch deep, and each features a drawing of a character or important object from "The Hobbit" (you may've guessed already, but #1 is of course The One Ring while the largest, 31, opens onto Bilbo in his hallway). All of my drawings are based on the book descriptions; I tried not to be too influenced by the movies (even though I really love them!)
