A thick blanket of gray smoke lingered along the ceiling of the tiny bar as a pair of cloaked figures stepped inside. The establishment was essentially empty, except for a group of people speaking quietly amongst themselves in the back. Taking their seats at the counter, the taller of the two figures gave a curt nod to the bartender, and was soon handed a miniature-sized glass of alcohol. Pulling back the hood of the cloak, the person's face was revealed; it was a woman who appeared to be around her early 30s, with sky-blue eyes, curly black hair that ran down to her shoulders and a small oval-shaped scar was evident on her right cheek. She steadily brought the edge of the glass to her lips and felt a sense of relief as the cold drink slide down her aching throat. Her companion was also female, albeit much younger and far less comfortable with the current setting. Her left hand was buried deep into her p

Grabbing the apples on the tray, the country mare inspected the fruits intently which grew a smirk on the Wonderbolt's face. Although it was not the most romantic scene he had in mind, Soarin enjoyed his time with the orange pony. Not use to seeing her as dolled up as she was in the Grand Galloping Gala a few years ago, he appreciated her wholesome look. Her hat tipped slightly which had her push it back up. Soarin soon found himself face to face with two apples that she held out.
"Bruises," she announced, shaking her head, "Bruises all over these apples. What're they doin' with 'em? Playin' baseball and usin' them as balls?" Applejack looked down timidly and set her food down on the table. "My 'pologies. It's the inner farmer in me."
"No worries," Soarin assured, "Cafeteria food is never that good anyway."
"Gosh, Ah hope Rainbow's gonna be fine," Applejack said. The blue Pegasus had

Along with them, everything we hold dear.
So, misty eyed, we'll count the stars above
As ever closer they are drawn to here.
So, love, do you believe in destiny?
In counting time, in counting every day?
So, do you, love, believe in what you see?
We'll vanish soon, our hearts will drift away.
If atoms wander through all space and time,
Maybe there is a place where I'll find you,
Some universal meeting point sublime.
We're trapped inside this hell of midnight blue.
But love, I'd search all of this time and space
Just for another chance to see your face.

In the late hours of the night, a mighty thunderstorm raged outside the Carousel Boutique. Rarity, the store's sole proprietor, lied awake in her bed gazing at a picture of herself with a specific purple earth pony stallion with a green mane. Casually, she looked at the heart shaped frame next to it on her nightstand. A photograph of a small young green and purple dragon was held within it. 'Oh Spike, why do you always seem to be out of town when I need you the most.' She thought to herself.
The blue eyed unicorn mare quickly sat up in her bed when she heard the door to her bedroom slowly creek open. A white unicorn filly with green eyes and a curly purple and pink mane and tail, poked her head into the room.

"Dammit, Yang, where the hell did you go with my textbooks? If I don't pass this class because of you, I'm handing in your head for extra credit!"
The snow-haired young woman stomped all across the dormitory, her heels digging holes into the carpeted flooring, as she called for the heads of her two friends, temperament flaring even higher still. There was no one around, as far as she could tell. It was still early in the day, and most of the female students were at class or doing other activities, leaving the dorms abandoned. Weiss was about ready to lose it, contemplating to get her revenge on the blonde by destroying her bed with ice magic. She wasn't going to let anyone, not even Ruby's sister, her own teammate, make a fool out of her.
Thanks to her guard being lowered, Weiss remained totally unaware of the person sneaking up behind her, or what was about to transpire.

The mail pony's call echoed out from Twilight's library in the early morning... Right before a loud crash filled the air. Resting her hoof in her brow, Twilight just shook her head sadly as her horn began to glow. The book she had been reading becomes illuminated with the same magical light that surrounded her spiraled horn, and magically closes itself as the unicorn pony turns towards the main room. "Oh Derpy..." she muttered to herself. "What did you hit this time..."
Trotting into the main library, Twilight saw the blonde-maned pony had 'landed' in a chair, knocking it over in the process. Compared to some of Rainbow Dash's 'entrances', this arrival by the mail pony was quite tame.
The grey pony looked up, her one good eye focusing on Twilight as her other eye slowly started to turn away to look at the floor. Twilight suppressed a shudder and steeled herself. 'It's not her fault...' Twiligh

The quill glided across the crisp parchment, leaving a bold line of ink in its wake. Under Twilight Sparkle's magical direction, more lines crisscrossed the parchment, dividing it into neat little boxes. Soon these boxes were filled in with cramped writing, and the rows and columns were labelled with dates and times. Twilight paused to survey her work. "A perfect schedule," she announced to the empty library. "And I even left room to plan next month's schedule this time!" All it lacked was a fitting title. Twilight leaned in close, concentrating.
"Gaaah!" Before it could even touch the parchment, the quill flew up and out of sight behind her. Twilight winced and put a hoof to her smarting eye. It had happened again: a sharp pain in her eye, followed by a flash of green light that left her blinded for a few moments. Such occurrences had been bothering her off and on ever since returning from the wedding yesterday. At first, she had written them off as the result of being overworked with

A mid-autumn wind caused dry and brittle leaves to tumble along the ground, landing at the base of the Ponyville Library. Growing close to the middle of town, the library itself was actually in the middle of a hollowed out tree, which through the grace of magic, was still alive and growing. At this time of year, leaves of brown and orange replaced the normally verdant canopy. Inside, the library was homely but spacious. Bookshelves had been carved into the living wood walls. The main area was for books and patrons to read or check out materials. Off to one side was a small kitchen and in the back, up a few steps was a dining come reading area. Upstairs was set-aside for the librarian's living quarters. It too was equally spacious including a

CHAPTER 2: Orion's Big Day
From the moment the first rays of sunshine flowed through his bedroom window, Orion Sparkle woke up without a single ounce of hesitation, threw off the warm covers that enveloped him, and jumped out of bed. The room was cold and the world outside looked even more frigid, but instead of returning to the toasty embrace of his dreams, he only felt more awake than ever. His sister Andromeda often joked that it would usually take nothing short of magic to pull him out of the peaceful comatose he called sleep, but this was no ordinary day.
Life and enthusiasm rushed through his body in great vigor this morning because today was his birthday. Even more important, though, was its significance. All night long, he dreamed of finally getting his cutie mark and showing it to his friends. The “oohs” and “aahs” still reverberated in his mind as he rushed to a mirror, unable to contain his excitement any longer. With a quick turn, he spun hi
Fluttering Hearts Chapter 1 Fall is a special time of the year in Ponyville; the season of change as some ponies referred to it. Although most noticeably the change they're referring to would be the physical change of color that the leaves on the trees exhibit, there are also some more subtle, but nonetheless significant changes that occur throughout ponies lives this time of year. The peak of this season is marked by the annual Running of the Leaves competition, in which several ponies compete in a marathon designed to shake the leaves from the trees as a result of the force of everypony trampling the grounds at once as they run. However this year, there was another competition between two ponies that was slowly gaining more spectators. An Iron Pony competition between the down-to-earth pony apple farmer Applejack, and the head-in-the-Cloudsdale pegasus Rainbow Dash. The crowd mostly consisted of their closest friends, a few other ponies always ready to enjoy a good completion, and Applejack'sFluttering Hearts Chapter 13 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This

Maybe I should have never let you see.

I've always wondered how such intricate and delicate snowflakes of white lies -each one different from the last- could accumulate inside a black ice smile.
Soft and pure, no one should see it as a lie.
(But they pave the road to a slick finish.)
Enjoy the drive.
Wouldn't it be funny if this turned out to be a curse?
Maybe it's the hazy screens in my eyes that makes me want to see this as a dream.
Would you believe me if I told you it was?

Rarity inhaled deeply, letting the pleasant aroma of her drink fill her nostrils. The snifter glass gently shifted about, buoyed by her magical aura, and its burgundy contents swirled along the transparent walls. She tipped the glass to her lips, gracefully sipping its contents in a way that only years of cultured drinking could imbue. A satisfied smile crossed her lips as the cognac warmed her throat as it drained to her stomach. She was almost finished with her third glass of the night, which would put her just at her tolerance level for this particular beverage; such a shame that her friends didn't know their own tolerances.
At that thought, she looked about the bar from her seat in the corner booth. While she wasn't the type to normally socialize in such establishments, this bar was cultured enough for her tastes, being well designed, well built, and having a satisfactory selection of

Welcome to Night Vale.
To begin, dear listener, I would like to clarify that I am not real.
I am simply a figment of your imagination. A fabrication of one idle mind communicated to another. I am a part of both of these minds.
I am a part of you that you have constructed as a median between your conscious and subconscious mind.
This voice of your mind projected onto these words is only as real as you let it become.
I am, simply put, a story, one of utter insignificance to the workings of the cosmos.
But isn't that all we are in the end, listener, stories? There will come a time when your existence is carried on smudged graphite and spilled ink and echoing tones through legends.
Your story will be doubted and plagiarized and edited to the point where the line between true truth and pure fiction is blurred beyond recognition.
You, too, will eventually be lost to the ages.
And you will, too, like so many others, fall to silence.

Cole walked slowly up to the front door of Dana Mercer's apartment, located not far from his own in the Neon District of Empire City. Unfortunately for him, her brother, in all his violent overprotectiveness, had decided to follow her on her migration, leaving the battle-scarred island of Manhattan and the unpleasant memories it contained far behind both of them. For Cole though, the presence of Alex Mercer made every visit to Dana's residence feel like he was stepping into the lair of a very, very hungry lion. He had called ahead earlier to set up the excursion, finding Dana home alone for the moment, but in the hours that had intervened, Alex could have easily returned. Hesitantly, nervously straightening his light grey suit, he knocked on her door.

Rainbow Dash slowly made her way amongst rows of dark tents in the Equestrian encampment. The sun was beginning to set, painting the sky a shade of dark crimson and covering the empty alley in sharp shadows. The only sounds reaching her ears were the crackling of campfires hidden from her view by the tents, no doubt surrounded by silent soldiers who had nothing more to converse about, and the clattering of the armor on her chest meeting her shoulder guards with every step forward. She had been invited by the Princess to attend a meeting of the commanding officers of the four armies in the joined camp. They were to discuss the plans for the coming weeks of the march southwards across the continent.
