Grabbing the apples on the tray, the country mare inspected the fruits intently which grew a smirk on the Wonderbolt's face. Although it was not the most romantic scene he had in mind, Soarin enjoyed his time with the orange pony. Not use to seeing her as dolled up as she was in the Grand Galloping Gala a few years ago, he appreciated her wholesome look. Her hat tipped slightly which had her push it back up. Soarin soon found himself face to face with two apples that she held out.
"Bruises," she announced, shaking her head, "Bruises all over these apples. What're they doin' with 'em? Playin' baseball and usin' them as balls?" Applejack looked down timidly and set her food down on the table. "My 'pologies. It's the inner farmer in me."
"No worries," Soarin assured, "Cafeteria food is never that good anyway."
"Gosh, Ah hope Rainbow's gonna be fine," Applejack said. The blue Pegasus had

In a clearing not far from Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie Pie stood next to a large contraption while leafing through a hard-bound book. Eventually, she found what she was looking for, and closed it, reading the title on its cover once more: "Winged Species of Equestria."
It would serve her well. Then again, most the books she borrowed from Twilight usually did.
After placing the book inside the contraption's side basket, she hopped on its seat, placed her hind hooves on its pedals, and used them for their intended purpose. The contraption's wheels turned, allowing her to roll, as she steered straight ahead with her front hooves, first along a smooth meadow, and then down a speed-yielding hill.
Once she was satisfied with her acceleration, she made sure the path before her was clear, and then moved one front hoof from the vehicle's secondary controls. With a pull of levers, the adjustments she had recently

Rainbow Dash slowly made her way amongst rows of dark tents in the Equestrian encampment. The sun was beginning to set, painting the sky a shade of dark crimson and covering the empty alley in sharp shadows. The only sounds reaching her ears were the crackling of campfires hidden from her view by the tents, no doubt surrounded by silent soldiers who had nothing more to converse about, and the clattering of the armor on her chest meeting her shoulder guards with every step forward. She had been invited by the Princess to attend a meeting of the commanding officers of the four armies in the joined camp. They were to discuss the plans for the coming weeks of the march southwards across the continent.
Dash was alone with her thoughts on her way to the hill in the center of the camp. How had it come to this? Each link in the chain of events leading up to this moment had made sense in its own right, and yet the chain as a whole surpassed her. They were joining other cou

"Just one moment!" Thunk. Somewhat dazed, Luna pulled her face away from the desk. "Come in!" she said, her horn and muzzle throbbing slightly.
Through the door trotted - oh, what a surprise! Yet another pony levitating a stack of papers about twice the size of the last. "Princess," he said, oblivious to the piercingly-annoyed glare in Luna's eyes, "The request to change the Equestrian national tree from the Holly Oak to the Bay Willow has been withdrawn, so the reinstatement paperwork needs to be filled out."
This late at night? "Alright," replied Luna, already readying her quill, "I think I can-"
"And," he interrupted, "The budget cuts for the School for Gifted Unicorns need to be finalized."
That again?! "Of course." Luna nodded, keeping her voice

It was true that his mental state seemed to be deteriorating all the time. The joke shop had been closed for days, now. He must have lost a lot of sales.
He didn’t care.
Why should he care? What did money matter, when they were richer than they’d ever needed to be? What did the shop matter, when the only other person who had shared the dream was gone?
What did anything matter, when he was half of a whole?
Yes, they worried. They all worried. His mother most of all, of course, as all mothers did. His father, who always seemed unsure of what to do around him now. His siblings… Well, they had all felt almost the same pain he had. Almost. None of them had lost their other halves.
He didn’t know what he was thinking half the time. The other half, his thoughts were incomplete.
You see, Fred had always been there to complete them for him.

As he stood up he saw the familiar figure of Ginny running over to him. He was happy to see Ginny but was aware of a niggling annoyance in the pit of his stomach, before he could figure out what it was Ginny had flung herself at him and was giving him a bear hug. She was always enthralled with his lectures, her hair had pink and lime green streaks in it today, thrown sideways into a pony tail though the volume of curl was so thick that it merely looked like she had thrown her hair to one side. Her brown eyes followed him as he moved around the room, he gathered if he asked her a question she'd be able to tell him word for word what he had said. It annoyed him to no end simply because he had never had anyone do it. He had been back at the university for only two semsters and his students had always taken his lectures with sleepy eyes and a desire to be done with it. He wondered what she feared? What would leave her quaking and screaming out of her mind in terror? All he could manage around her were awkward words and looks of dislike though...

“Don’t wake them!” James said from the other side of Remus’s curtains. The young lycanthrope slowly opened his eyes and chuckled when he heard someone – most likely Peter – run into one of their trunks before their two friends quietly left the dorm room.
It was the first Saturday since returning to school and none of the Marauders had quite gotten used to waking up early morning. That’s why Sirius and Remus were still lying in bed, trying to sleep.
Sadly, now that Remus was awake, it didn’t look like he was going to fall back asleep. Not that he really minded; he was perfectly content just staying in bed with Sirius using his chest as a pillow. Thankfully the other seventh year was still sound asleep so Remus just closed his eyes as he started to slowly stroke Sirius’s black hair.

It was a particularly warm summer afternoon and Harry was letting his mind wander. It was the last lesson on a Friday afternoon, and while everyone else around the school was having a fun lesson in the sunlight, Harry and the rest of Gryffindor, along with Slytherin, was stuck copying out the uses of Asphodel in the dungeons. While they wrote, Snape kept a watchful eye over them, occasionally asking a student, usually from Gryffindor, to stop talking or show him their work. Harry gazed mindlessly around the room and his eyes soon settled on a blond head a few rows in front of him. A thin shaft of sunlight from a small window very near the ceiling of the room came to fall on the boy's head. Harry noticed that the few stray hairs escaping the gelled mass glinted golden in the sun. The boy must have felt Harry's gaze as he turned and glared at him. Harry quickly looked back to his parchment and dipped his quill in the ink, hoping that Malfoy wouldn't no

"What's wrong, Ron?" she murmured drowsily.
He gazed at her for a moment, trying to claw his way out of the horror of his dream by seeing her face: unscathed, unharmed, and right there with him.
"Ron?" Her voice was more forceful now and she propped herself up on her arm. "Ron, if you have something to say, spit it out because you're looking at me in a very unnerving way."
Ron smiled. "Um, it's nothing. Nightmare." he croaked, his voice rough from sleep. He cleared his throat. "Go back to sleep."

He was also worried that putting it off would give him time to chicken out and lose all the confidence he'd spent the last two hours building up. Harry was taken aback at the bluntness of Draco's statement and his heart sped up. What was going to happen?
"No, I..." he started.
"I've seen the way you look at me, Harry," Draco lowered and softened his voice. He knew that being harsh was not going to get the answer out of Harry. Harry felt his heart flip at the sound of Draco saying his first name in a tone of voice which was genuine and silky without its usual sarcastic sneer.

Zuko had said, "You're beautiful" so many times, Mai began to wonder if the words were just habit to him, that he never really looked at her anymore...
Did it really matter to her to be told that she was pretty, again and again? That was what silly, shallow girls wanted to hear, sincere or not. Right? 'I began to expect him to say it... and then, I became deaf to it...'
"I never realized..."
Then again, Zuko tried to change her in many, subtle ways, ways that she never realized until now, when the contrivances of Fate had put some time and distance between them. He wanted her to smile on cue; asked for it, noted when she did not, bothered her about it, assuming it was some sign that something was wrong with her, not realizing that she did not smile unless she wanted to, unless there was a good reason for it.

Of course, people associated smiling with happiness. So maybe, after all... sh
