deviantPOINTS: An updateOver the past few months we’ve been keeping a watchful eye on the way that members in our community have been offering points as payment for certain types of services within deviantART. We’ve seen all sorts of creative uses, from offering to critique your work for a few points, journal features for a few more points and my personal fav -- avatars, journal skins and any other sort of art commission for points. It’s been great to see deviants use their experience and skills to fund their super group upgrades, prints purchases and even treating their friends and families to their very first item of deviantWEAR.deviantPOINTS: An update4 years ago in Personal More Like This
As time rolled on, we noticed a new trend creeping in. People were not just offering a small number of points for a task that they’d normally do as part of their daily deviating -- people were offering thousands of page views for hundreds of points, and there seemed to be no limit to the amount that could be purchased, or offered. It didn

On my profile page, I feature a new deviation every day (or two or three). The piece is usually something that caught my eye. Could be an amazing digital painting, a fun stamp, a quick photograph that made me smile, perhaps a piece for a weekly theme, whatever. However, it moved me enough to share it with my visitors. Below is a list of the artists which I featured during June2012. I am showcasing different pieces from their gallery in the hope of showing them a bit more love. If you would like to see the original piece I featured of each of these artists, please visit

Admin Feature Volume IOur first prewriting month will be in September, but it seems unfair to make you wait that long to get some assistance in your plotting. So after a little bit of discussion, we decided to run a couple features this month of some of the awesome writing guides and tutorials we've come across on DA.Admin Feature Volume I3 weeks ago in Literature Features More Like This

Of course, we're also going to be collecting every guide we're featuring into our Featured Gallery folder to make it easier for you guys to find them later.

Giving Back to the Community
When deviants start wanting to be more active within their communities, they always begin by asking the same question:
How can I give back?
Whether they're new deviants, bright-eyed and excited to start making their mark on their community, OR older members looking to "return" the inspiration and support they've received, the first question they head for is the one above. It's easy enough to comment on artwork that held their interest, or leave their favorite deviants a thoughtful note when they think about it, but for those interested in "going the extra mile," there are other things to consider. Please keep in mind, you don't HAVE to be a Senior to do these things; good karma is good karma, you don't need a medal next to your name to "give back."
So, what can you do? Let's start with the basics.
Leave Thoughtful Comments/Feedback
It's a pretty common bit of knowle

Hey, it's me, bloedzuigerbloed! Some of you may be familiar with my "Improve Your Writing! Tips and Techniques" journal. While that (excessively long) journal covered many topics, it's time to add a bit more onto each of those by giving the important ones their own tutorial.
CAUTION: Before you proceed, I warn you, I am not a professional artist or author, and all I’m going by here is what I am assuming works best because it works best for me. If it doesn’t work for you, don’t get angry with me. This is a disclaimer.
[Keep in mind: This tutorial is especially helpful for realistic fiction, so some things I suggest may not apply to y

Sorry about the title. It was stuck in my head so I had to xDD.
note: Faving this journal might help with your exposure but it's solely up to your fellow deviants ~
It takes me a while to put these together, so if you commented on my other journal to be featured, please take a look at everyone else's work too. After all, it's only fair that way and if you don't, it's just a little selfish and your conscience will bug you . So yah, share the love, guys!
These are ordered first come first serve style; I will be showing around 50 pieces at one time (I still have a lot to go through and it adds up every time i put up a feature journal), and be featuring once a week as to not clog up your message boxes. It'll probably take ....a few months, so please be patient!
Common Misconceptions: Copyrights and YouHi peeps! In this “Common Misconceptions” blog we’ll be tackling more copyright issues as they pertain to us artists! This can be somewhat confusing territory, so getting the right information is key to knowing how to effectively protect your work and rights. *Please note that all of the information here applies to the laws in the United States Copyright Office. If you do not live in the US, be sure to review your country’s laws on copyright*Common Misconceptions: Copyrights and You3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I have to register for a copyright to own the rights to my work
In the simplest terms, if you made it (and it’s 100% original work) you own the rights to the work. In fact, anything you make that you do not sell the rights to is copyrighted to you for a whopping 70 years after you kick the bucket. If you were commissioned to do a work and retain the rights, that work is copyrighted to you for 95 to 120 years after you

General Art and Digital Art forum are always inundated with threads (here l here) about how to price ones' commissions every few days. Rather than creating such a thread everytime, use this 'official' thread for asking questions, providing answers to anyone who might have individual questions, or finding out information provided here about how to go on about pricing your commissions.
