She turned on her side and readjusted her pillows for what was probably the hundredth that night. As weary as she was, sleep should have been an easy task. Unfortunately her mind did not want to cooperate with what her body was demanding. Her mind wanted to think about Earth and all the horrors taking place there, about Kaiden and the angry bruises on his face, about Palaven and about Garrus. She hoped her turian friend was alive and well. Shepard uttered a dejected sigh and pulled herself off the mattress. She arched her back, stretching the sore muscles on her lithe frame that protested against the notion of having to do more work. Perhaps a stroll around the Normandy would ease her mind. Shepard stepped into her slippers and made for the elevator.
The CIC had been eerily quit even if the hour was late. The silence reminded of when the Collector's had abducted her crew. Shepard chased away the memories of the Collector base. She did not need another horrible thing to dwell on. The el

MASS EFFECT 3 ALTERNATE ENDING *SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY*
**EDIT** Holy crap this got way more attention than I was expecting. The comments and support have been amazing everyone!
A few points: Credit where credit is due; this ending, as much as everyone seems to love it, was only created because the amazing team at Bioware created a universe that was so rich and full of life and detail. As much as I know a lot of fans are hurt by what they did, we need to remember that Bioware still created an incredible trilogy, one of the best ever. So hats off to them all round.
Also, this was written really fast and so the ending (specifically the last part on how you actually win using TIM's signal) isn't very fleshed out. I know there are holes, and they can actually be fixed quite easily. This isn't perfect. Also, this doesn't deal with a 'happy' ending. If there were to be one, or you were to even CONSIDER taking the fourth option, you'd need to be damn ready. I'm talking ALL war assets e
Drunken NeedKuja sighed; he was in a tavern trying to drink away his unhappiness. "Stupid inferiors! I'm much better than them!" he huffed and sipped the drink. He was so caught up in fuming he hadn't noticed Zidane sit right next to him but Zidane hadn't really notice either. He was celebrating a wonderfully executed thief raid. Kuja happened to glance beside him and fell off the stool; he was slightly tipsy so it wasn't all his fault. "You!" he cried.Drunken Need3 years ago in Settings More Like This
Zidane jumped and looked at him. "...you...." he frowned "Come to ruin my night?" Zidane's tail flickered with slight discomfort. "By the looks of it no, you looked pretty upset" he smiled ever so slightly.
"Oh hush" Kuja snapped and sat back down "I'm quite unhappy so go away." He turned his head in the other direction. Zidane felt a little guilty, but just a little.
"Well...Hey what's wrong then Kuja?" Zidane took a gulp of his drink and watched the other carefully.
Kuja slowly turned back to Zidane "Huh? Y-you want to hear me vent? Really?" he s
Inward DefeatI sat at my desk, running my hands through my hair as a racked my brain for answers. How was I going to lead Kaidan on any further? How...how can I stop fooling him, making him think that I just know I'll come out alive, when in truth...I know I'll die.Inward Defeat3 months ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
And...how can I do this to him? I've loved him for so long, and yet here I am ready to cause him the pain I caused him three years ago all over again.
Gritting my teeth I pull on my hair and then push away from my desk, looking up into the ceiling of the captain's quarters. I'm a joke of a lover, a joke. Someone who claimed to love Kaidan as much as I do, would not just sit by and let him think that I was coming back. They would tell him they were coming back, for them, for their love. And even though I claim to love him like that...that's never been the Reverly Shepard's way. Years of distrust, abandonment and self sacrifice have always led me to just try and let people be happy for awhile...so they wouldn't have to suffer the way I di
Shepard, Why Do You Love Me?It was early in the morning. The room was dark and quiet except for the gentle hum of the engine. The only light came from the stars and mass effect energy that was seen through the ceiling window. It has been over a month since the raid on the Collector's base. Tali was awake but refused to move from her place next the Shepard. She was on her side holding Shepard. Shepard held her in his sleep. Tali basked in his warmth. Human bodies were so much warmer than a Quarian's body. It was comforting and pleasant. She counted the beats of his heart. Back on the old Normandy, her dreams were that of this moment. Laying outside of her suit next to the man she loves. Now her dreams are realized. She is the luckiest Quarian, no woman, in the galaxy. It was shortly after Shepard reported the the council about the destruction of the Collector's Base, that the news of their relationship was spread all over the galaxy. I figured I'd set a few hours aside to throw something together that I would have been content to accept as the series finale.
It's pretty skeletal at times and I'm sure someone more knowledgeable with Mass Effect lore could do better but w/e
I didn't want to go super overboard with details-if you're a Mass Effect fan you'll be able to imagine the extras and fill in the blanks.
EDIT: So, after getting back into Mass Effect 3, I realized that I'd made a little mistake with my ending here.
That is that 'war assets' are more important then 'galactic readiness' so, consider that as a part of what get's you a respective ending too.
After defeating the Phantoms on the Illusive Man's base:
Shepard learns, from the Illusive Man's personal logs that he has constructed a device that can access a Reaper's brain. His goal with said device is to tamper with "the code" within a Harbinger so that he may attempt to control the Reapers

What the Hell were we thinking going after the Reapers? What made us think we would be able to stop them when countless civilizations before ours fell?
Before London, I found myself thinking this more and more. But then I also started thinking of everything we've accomplished. When Saren turned his back on the Council, they just couldn't see it. They just couldn't believe that one of their own would turn against them. I'd call it human nature but
We opened their eyes. We made them see that Saren was a traitor. It wasn't easy, but through each other's help and support, we proved him a threat to the Galaxy. We stopped him. Not only that, we killed a Reaper. Together, we put an end to Saren's treachery, and destroyed Sovereign. It wasn't without sacrifice, but we sowed t

Post Mass Effect Technology Era and the Formation of Galactic Alliance
Stretching a time from late 2186 to 2250, the Great Migration was commonly recognized as the period of time when the starfleets came to aid Earth against the Reapers return to their homeworld by FTL or other conventional means of commuting. By Quarian help, some larger battle fleets were renovated into starships to cope with a sustainable residency. While most have left the Sol System, some choose to resettle themselves on Earth or closer clusters like Tuchanka to help the locals rebuild their homeworld. This caused a shift in galactic powers for a moment, until the Galactic Alliance was established.
The Galactic Alliance, established in year 2193, is an inter-stellar organization between the former Citadel Council, the Systems Alliance, and the Perseus Consortium. The three major players in the field combined their resources to host aiding programs and agencies
Memories to Heal the Broken 1So a friend 'Noted' me and suggested a look at my FShep (Sarah) and Liara's relationship 'back in the day'. I decided to start from the end of ME3 and find a way for them to relive some special moments that they shared. It takes a while to get there, but now that the hard part is over, the next installment will be more on point, I think.Memories to Heal the Broken 12 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Bioware owns these characters.
FOB Hammer, London:
They had been fighting for hours and the brutes, marauders and cannibals were closing in on all sides. Liara saw Tali incinerate two cannibals with one flick of her Omni-Tool then glanced to her own left before throwing up a singularity that caught up three cannibals. She killed all three with aimed shots from her Locust but was then knocked back and over a low wall by a charging brute. There were hundreds of vile creatures all around her and the small contingent of Soldiers left at FOB Hammer.
She knew in her heart that they couldn't last very much longer.

The Destiny Ascension hung in space, closely guarding the SSV Nightingale. Her captain, Matriarch Lidanya stood by the large viewing portal and watched the other ships arrayed close by. Dreadnaughts of several different designs all sat at station keeping, creating a wall around the diminutive Alliance hospital ship.
Two dreadnaughts from the Asari, Turian, Quarian and even the Batarian fleets had taken station within an hour of hearing that Commander Shepard was aboard and barely hanging on to life. It was a time honored show of respect and support from the spacefaring races in the galaxy. The SSV Beijing arrived and the SSV Houston had towed the SSV Normandy over near their little formation, also. Now ships from

It was a soon as those words left his mouth that Tali had finally realized what he was asking. John Shepard was asking to spend more time with her. In Public. With her.
Suddenly Tali's emotions exploded into utter bliss. She hugged Shepard even tighter than before and began to cry her tears of happiness and replied "Yes! A thousand times yes Shepard!"
"Well that's good because if you had said no I might not have survived the trauma of rejection" he replied with a chuckle. This resulted in a chuckle from her lips as well, replacing the tears of happ

"And we'd have to start a colony?" Ashley laughed.
"Now that is crazy, Ashley. There are not enough people here for long term colonization and- oh, you were joking."
"So we just hang tight until they find us," Garrus said. "You know if we're to be stuck anywhere, might as well be this tropical paradise."
"We've been fighting for so long, how long has it been since we actually rested?"
"Too long," Ashley said. "Too, too long. The crew deserves a rest. We should get out the drinks, start a fire tonight and just party."

Am I a clone? Did they plant some control chip in me? I hacked several consoles in the facility that they used to bring me back. I'm not a clone. A clone wouldn't have my skills, experiences, memories or moralities. And the control chip was out too, when Miranda tol

“Oh come on, it can’t be that embarrassing.” He rolls his eyes at me, squeezing my shoulder gently.

I don’t know why, but for the first time in all the time that we’d been in the camp together, I saw you, like really saw you.” His words are murmured softly as he intertwines his fingers with mine. “You picked that gun up with your biotics like it was nothing to you, as if you’d been trained to do so since you were a baby. Ashley Williams walked towards the Embassy lounge. The knowledge of Shepard's victory lingered in her head. Just a few days ago Councilor Anderson notified her of Shepard's victory over the Collector's and his betrayal of Cerberus. She felt like an idiot. Even more so when she learned that Garrus, Tali, Joker and Chakwas joined him in his mission. Why did she say those things on Horizon?
Of course she probably screwed up any chance to be with him. She grew fond of him during their mission to take down Saren, but he didn't seem to express the same interest. She always assumed he had a thing with Liara. Or so the rumors went. Maybe she now has the opportunity to find out. Though there was a whole new rumor about who he was with, but it was too crazy to be true.
Ash entered the lounge. It was pretty empty. It only took a quick scan to see Shepard's table. With him were Tali and Garrus. Ash cringed. It was almost like fate was rubbing

Both he, Tali, Liara, Ashley, Vega, Javik and Joker stood in front of the memorial wall. They had just placed EDI's and Anderson's name up on the wall. The only name left to add was Shepard's. Garrus placed a hand on her shoulder.
"No," she said sternly. "I'm not ready to give up on him." Tali walked away from the memorial wall. "We need to get back to earth as soon as possible. Shepard will need our help."
The elevator door opened and she went inside. The doors closed. The others looked at each other and shook their heads.
"She's still not ready to accept it," Liara said.
"I'm not sure, I'm ready to accept it," Vega said. "I mean it's Commander Shepard! He already died once already."
"But he was at the epicenter of the energy wave," Ash said.
"You all should be glad," Javik muttered. "The reaper threat is over. The Commander accomplished his mission."
"Yeah, that's great and all, but at this high of a cost?" Vega re

AUTHOR'S NOTE: The romantic side of the plot will not become prominent until chapter 2-3. Reviews are always helpful.
Two days after the Cerberus Assault on the Citadel:
As she watched Javik from the elevator, continuing to wash his hands of what he referred to only as "mental residue", she couldn't help but admire his figure. Ever since she had met him, he had had a profound impact on her. She had thought about telling him how she felt, but knew he would find the thought of a relationship with a "primitive" revolting. Still, she enjoyed talking to him whenever possible.
As the door opened, the warrior she had found on Eden Prime was at his usual position, trying to wash his hands of the "mental residue" of his ship mates in the bath of strange, brown liquid before him.
"Commander " Javik greeted her without turning.
"How is my avatar of vengeance doing?" She jabbed, attempting to draw at least some attention from away from his deep thought.

Not for them, or us.
You know what we are.
You can see it in our nature,
Indivisible from our truest form.
My breath portends brutality.
Violence has always composed our core.
To deny it would be to deny our heritage.
I must harness my birthright.
Judge me not
By the temperament of my voice,
Or the iron in my eyes,
But by the will with which I fight.
Your pity is an unwelcome crutch.
I refuse it.
Do not question our nobility.
We wage war on many fronts,
But our enemy is singular.
We have seen him.
We know him well.
Our lives will be the final offering.
We'll build the altar ourselves.
No, we don't need your help,
But you may sharpen the knife, if you wish.

It was very quiet. The gunfire had died down. There were no mechanical roars. It was beautiful but frightening at the same time. When the red energy erupted from the Citadel, it caused every reaper to fall over and die. Their corpses littered earth's surface and her orbit. Despite the war, earth was in relatively good shape. Major city centres were destroyed, but some remained as well as hundreds, if not thousands, of smaller cities, towns and factory districts that remained fairly intact.
The sacrifice required to defeat the reapers was immense. The geth immediately deactivated when the red energy wave passed through them leaving just their husks behind. The mass relay system was destroyed leaving the entire hammer and sword army stranded on and above earth. Though this was not the first thought on everyone's mind. Right now they won a war against an almost invincible enemy. The main focus was finding survivors, recording the names of dead, and figuring out what to d

A young woman was lying awake in the early hours of the morning. She sat up in her bed, her bare arms folded over one another. Her nighttime garb was a simple short-sleeved shirt and a pair of black shorts. She was twenty-five years old, living in the chaotic fray of a metropolis. Earth was noisy compared to most other places she had lived during her life. She was supposedly born there, though. But, she was reflecting on her past, of where she had been before.
Her parents had taken her to live with them in the small farming colony of Mindoir far out in space. It was quiet, small, and serene. She had been nervous at first, a little girl having to live an entirely new planet where e
