SAVING MONEY AS A COSPLAYER... IS IT POSSIBLE!?Every single cosplayer in the world has one painful problem that we can all relate to: we're always broke. Always.SAVING MONEY AS A COSPLAYER... IS IT POSSIBLE!?2 months ago in Personal More Like This
Fabric, thread, machines, paints, wood, tools, thermoplastics, LEDs, mould castings, brushes, dyes, wigs, make-up, contacts, boots, prosthetics, convention tickets, travel expenses, luggage, skin care, gym... the list goes on and on. Every single cent we earn, we constantly throw it all back into making our beloved costumes and feeling good for a few hours while stressing for months prior-hand. Non-cosplayers may not get it, but we do. For us, it's not a sacrifice. The chance to hone our creative spirit and create something from nothing is a rewarding life experience. Some think that the cost of an outfit is more valuable compared to medication and psychological sessions.
But like it not, we've all gotta come to a conclusion that the hobby must come to an end for us one day, and to have some money saved up for your next step in life is a greater advantage than having nothi

Tux Team Guide to Posing and Convention EtiquetteMan, I miss the feeling of being able to roll around in bed and sleep for as long as I want. Nowadays, my friends and I haven't been able to experience that even on weekends.Tux Team Guide to Posing and Convention Etiquette5 years ago in Personal More Like This
As of now, my brain is too fried to write up a proper journal entry about our volcano GARventure, and one of my usual event reports (as you can see on the right side of my journal) about Cosplay Mania, but I'd like to take this chance to share a part of our lecture of sorts at the Cosmania cosplay workshop last Sunday.
China !snowpeachdrop, Kat ~moonlightflight, El ~rosiael and I were invited to talk about general cosplay planning, like fabric selection, wig styling, cosplay makeup and photography. My friends might post the other parts, but for now here is our silly guide about posing for cosplay photos, and convention etiquette. The actual presentation was actually longer, and with lots more examples, but here is a condensed rundown of what we talked about, fo

My girlfriend made me one for christmas *_* I just can't wait to do the shoot, hopefully my cold won't last so much longer. Final Fantasy X-2 Photoshoot Pt.1Final Fantasy X-2 PhotoshootFinal Fantasy X-2 Photoshoot Pt.19 months ago in Personal More Like This
Final Fantasy X-2's story follows the character Yuna from as she seeks to resolve political conflicts in the fictional world of Spira before it leads to war.
My model Catherine flew into town for a visit and wanted to have a shoot. She hadn't done much modelling work in the past, but was always keen to listen to my ideas and contribute her own. The location was in a studio with wonderful vintage furniture, hard wooden floors, brick walls with decor scattered around the scene.
The weather that day was perfect, and while my primary lightsource was natural, I used a reflector to gain that secondary lightsource. It was also the first time I had used my flashgun, but may have to use it more sparingly next time. Being in a photostudio, I had a playground of lights and softboxes to play with, but didn't get around to it.
My intention in post-production involved recreating a quieter ambience with subdued, desaturated colors that we

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is finally out! So far I like it c: I got the Collector's Edition with Serah's Genji Bow and Summoner's Garb~
I had many of you asking when I was going to post on how I made my version 2 outfit and my version 2 bow-blade. I said soon, and so I'm writing during my free time I have between classes. If you have any specific questions you can comment here or send me a note. I don't bite! Some of you already know I'm really nice and helpful. If any of you like to follow my old version check this journal: http://yuuri-k-sama.deviantart.com/journal/Helpful-tips-on-Serah-s-FFXIII-2-outfit-215796493
If you use any of my ideas it would be nice if you credit meAlso, to me this outfit is not perfect, but I feel like I have improved and I'm trying my hardest to get better (especially with make-up and posing). I learned to sew back when I was in high school by myself.
*At the moment, I take commissions for weapons and acce

Although I would love it if you watched the video, it shows no where near as much work as was put into this shoot. Some of this is embarrassing but I love reading about people's mistakes and how they overcame them. So here are mine.
I bought the costume last November, thinking I would be able to shoot the next week, edit easy peasy and be done in a month. Right.
I booked the first model several times over the course of 3 months but she flaked every time. I'm actually quite happy, as Laura turned out to be PERFECT, easy going, and an overall better model. Laura was kind enough to shoot with me twice, as I was hesitant about the poses I picked out. We kept some, threw out others and added new ones for the second time around.
For the WWI shot, I first tried to make the Notre Dame ruins by hand or find realistic models used for game tables. Turns out no one buys them anymore and thus I had no luck finding one. I att

so i keep getting the same questions over and over again. how did i learn to do this.
i was self taught. by this i mean, i took the initiative and seeked out the knowledge, as no one was offering it.
i draw on average 8 to 10 hours a day, every day. by average i mean that some days its 6 and some 12
so... the argument.
i keep hearing this one. well i want to be a professional artist, but life is hard, i need to work, i don't really have the time....
let me put things in perspective here.
i used to work as a night guard on the beach. every single night from 8 pm to s6 am. after that i would go meet up with my dad who gouarded another beach to get a cup of coffee. we had a bite to eat, and then both went to haul and sell fruits and vegetables.
every evening i was drawing. when the sun set i sat under a street lamp and drew through the night.
every night. this was on occasion interrupted by a fight with some exceedingly drunk people who wouldn't
