"Blue Face at the Symphony of Wires" was my working title for this. You can watch the evolution of this work in my scraps.
I promised that if this didn't win the laptop skin contest, I'd make a wallpaper with it so you could still put it on your laptop, and here it is: [link]
All LCDs glow blue in the dark. That's why they are so hard to use for color correction. There's always that blue shift. If you've ever looked at someone using an LCD in a dark room, the light makes their skin look blue. I wanted to show that here. She's all blue and surrounded by singing wires. There's an LCD below here, but if it's a laptop or a phone or an MP3 player is left up to the viewer's imagination.
This was made for Toshiba's "Cool for School" contest. I looked at the popular entries, and I noticed that a lot of them weren't the sort of skins that would be appropriate or even cool at school. I wanted to make a skin that met these criteria: 1. Would be permitted inside ALL high schools. No religious overtones, no sexuality, nothing outright dark or scary or threatening. 2. Would appeal to tweens and college students alike. 3. Would be something I'd put on my own laptop.
Photoshop CS2, with the brushes that came with, nothin' fancy, just all about making what's there work for you. I decided to make an Lady Amateratsu instead of a wolf, because I wanted to move the lovely curls and markings around on a different form. I tried to keep the drawing loose and energetic but still with a solid structure like the original artist's beautiful work. (I couldn't find out their name! ;_; ) BG is colors sampled from official Okami art.
Lady Amateratsu is a bit more whimiscal than she is in game, but has her claws and fur to express that she's still wild and elemental. Maybe when she's a woman she's more like the mischievous and sexy Amateratsu from Takahashi Rumiko's Urusei Yatsura?
I am finally happy with my Lara cosplay! I have been tweaking and shooting for weeks now. This is the one! NOTE: this photo is self shot and edited. Everything is made by hand. If used anywhere outside the site please credit Alexa Karii and link back to [link]
