This was part of the commission I did for ~Kizzarina, her lovely cat Ayame was named after iris flowers (Ayame=iris in Japanese) because of her stunning blue eyes, so she asked me to make a couple of iris flowers as stud earrings they were a bit more difficult to do than I imagined, but I'm really pleased with the way they turned out.
The shape was kinda complicated and getting the colors to blend perfectly was a challenge XD but as always, the most difficult part was finding a balance between delicate thin petals and sturdiness. When I make flowers it's always a bit tricky to find out just how thin I can make the petals before they become brittle, but if I make them too thick they look clumsy. Oh dilemma. Actually when I finished the flowers I noticed that the petals were still a tiny bit flexible and I was super scared they would break some day, so I decided to add the leaves to give the petals some more structure. It ended up working great for the design as well, and I hope they will last her a good time.
Technical stuff: 100% polymer clay and handmade, no premades molds or bought parts were used. No acrylic paints were used to achieve the colors. Metal findings were bought from a local craft store. Each flower is about 1.5 cm (left size reference) or just a bit over half an inch (right size reference).
This was an interesting commission, I was given three elements to work with to create a pendant:
-The design of Tree of Life (basically a tree inside a circle with the branches reaching out to the edges, there's lots of awesome examples in DA). - An old crooked tree, with the trunk leaning to the side. - The colors petrol blue, silver and green.
This is the design I came up with, and both my commissioner and the recipient of the pendant liked it! That's what I love so much about custom commissions, when I know that my work is liked I feel extremely happy! It's kinda addicting...
I went for a minimalistic clean look overall, but overdid the curls on the branches just a tiny bit, for contrast. I decided not to add the green to keep it minimal, and resisted the urge to bling it with some crystals. I used a needle to give the impression of bark and added silver mica to make the silver very shiny, it also helped pull off the impression of bark. It has been a couple of months since I made this, and looking back I think I would have liked to add roots to it, but I don't know if my commissioner would have liked it XD it wasn't part of the sketch I sent her with my idea. Oh well.
The blue disc/pendant has beveled edges, it looks very interesting. I found a cool way of making pendants look very even and with a nice beveled edge no molds just playing around with my clay until it happened. Maybe one day I'll make a tutorial for it. I have so many tutorials in mind it's not even funny.
Materials: All handmade with polymer clay, no molds, premades, cutters or anything were used. Silver mica was used and sealed with a tiny bit of glaze.
This was a commission for `ShePaintsWithBlood, and also the first Mondkatze commission I received for my animal shelter fund she wanted me to do the moon steampunk style, which I've never tried before! She was kind enough to procure the pieces and let me decide the design. She asked to do the cat purple with orange spots, also a first time for me so I was a bit scared... she said it's an exaggerated version of her own cat when I finished it I noticed it kinda looks like an alebrije, a sort of folks art here in Mexico. She told me that she liked it and (like usual) that she's surprised by how small it is! I really love making small things
The clock was my favorite of all the pieces she sent it and I thought it was perfect to be part of the moon. She also sent me tiny stars which are extremely adorable and I loved them! A couple of the cogs had to be pressed because the space available was too small, I tried to cut them and place them but they looked odd so I decided to press them and paint them. I hate saying things like "it looks much better in person" because it sounds like an excuse, but I swear this time it is for real Oo it looks ten times better in person, and I'm really proud of how it looks! Now I can say I've tried a new style, Steampunk
As some of you already know I love animals, so I looked for a local non-kill shelter to donate and volunteer. I found one that is doing an amazing job helping animals, I contacted them and they're awesome. I want to start raising funds for them, so from now on all the profits I make from Mondkatze and Mondhund (minus shipping and materials) will be saved and donated to my local no-kill and no-profit shelter, I will make every donation public and post the recipt to prove that I'm doing this for real, I will also write a journal about them soon. I think that this is a great chance for us animal lovers, you can get a customized piece of your pets AND donate to animals in need if anyone is interested contact me!
Would you like to commission a Mondkatze or a Mondhund?
I'm accepting commissions for this, I can customize the moon with any combination of colors you want, or make it flat instead of textured, round, shiny, anything! If you send me reference photos I will also make an exact miniature copy of your own cat, dog or any cat/dog you want. You can read my commission info here and my pricelist here. 100% of the profits (minus shipping and materials) will be donated to a local non-kill and non-profit shelter I'll post about it soon
My boyfriend and I have made up tons of cute stories about us living in the Moon and creating our ideal world. Since we both love cats and identify a lot with them, eventually the term "Mondkatze" (Mooncat) surged - it's in German because we both study German and we like to speak in German between us to practice. I eventually started making dogs, and so now I also offer "Mondhunden" (Moondogs).
I forgot to post these I found the pics the other day and wondered why I never did... a year ago my boyfriend said that I needed a place to display my dollhouse and miniatures, so he built/bought me a lovely sort of bookcase and I made each space a room of my dollhouse (it's a fantastic design, and it saves so much space since it's vertical!). He didn't want my things to get dusty so he also added acrylic doors to it, and this was my contribution to the project, the door handles I glued them to the acrylic doors and they work fantastic and they are so fun to watch XD
I don't remember how I decided what to do for the door handles, I think I just did the stuff I wanted to make at the time lol. So they are a jelly cake roll (my bf's favorite, before I glued it he threatened to eat it if I left it unattended), a chocolate petit four, a jam cookie, a marshmallow, a colorful lollipop and a mint chocolate truffle. My favorite part was the creamy inside of the jelly roll, I love that texture XD TEXTURES I love making textures!
Comments and suggestions are much appreciated these are also available for commission as pendants, charms, earrings, etc.
Technical stuff: All handmade with polymer clay and liquid polymer clay for the jam and jelly, no molds were used. The cookie shape was cut with a small cutter. Pastel dust was used to achieve the baked effect. The cake texture and color were made using the same technique I explained in this tutorial: [link] the method I use to making whipped cream is also explained there.
This was a commission, when I finished it I took photos and put them all together like this. I thought it looked better, but the file is huge so I divided it in 4 pieces and published them individually. This Friday on the #ArtisanCrafts chat `Romaji organized a scavenger's hunt (it was super fun) and one of the clues involved the fan on top of the chopstick. Today I remembered this, looked at them all together and I realized I was right, they look better together so I'm submitting it, even if the file is big XD but I think it gives a better idea of the work and details I did, and how they work together.
Lesson's learned: Always go with your first instinct and life is random. Also, `Romaji organizes super fun chat games.
I recently learned that Maneki-nekos are bobtail cats, which have short stubby tails It annoys me to see the long fluffy tail now also, my old watermark is a lot more intrusive, I didn't notice it until now aaaaand I feel a lot more comfortable painting faces now, I should try making another maneki-neko
Technical stuff: All handmade with polymer clay, no molds, premades or bought pieces were used. The flowers were made cutting the basic shapes with flower cutters, then polished and shaped to look better. I used natural bamboo chopsticks, they're meant to be used as hair decoration. This is a one of a kind piece, made with my commissioner's design.
I can't remember when I made these or what I did to them, but when my boyfriend saw the photos lost among folders he said that they're really pretty and asked why I never posted them... so here they are! I remember I wanted to make something fun, and truffles are really fun and a good opportunity to prove new techniques, which is what I did here. Of course like a lot of people I learned how to make these using *chat-noir's Chocolate Charm tutorial. My favorite is the one with the cherries on top, the other two are cute but the way I tried to make the lines didn't work as I planned, the next time I try truffles you'll see how much I've improved since
Technical stuff: Handmade with polymer clay, no molds premades were used and nothing was bought!
I'm just going to sneak this in here and hope the people that are getting this earrings don't see them before I send them... and if they do, well surprise I hope you'll like them! But I really wanted to post this before Christmas, and they look so adorable together holding hands so I didn't want to post them at different times ._.
I made Eley for =moofestgirl after the baby elephant that *kimchikawaii designed for her, I wanted to put a Santa hat on her too but that would have hidden the bow... and the bow is the most adorable thing ever ._. the bow is merely 3 mm long. The blue penguin is for ^maytel, she loves penguins and she's always changing her avatar but when I think of her I always imagine a blue penguin like this. Lastly the black penguin was for my mom's friend, I also made black penguins for my mom but she was so excited that she put them on before I had time to take the photo so I actually made 4 pairs of earrings but only three are shown here.
I tried to make them all the same but that's impossible since well... I'm human... so there's little differences between them. I think I looked at them for too long because after a while I started to notice characteristics or personalities in each one, so I started thinking of them as the happy one, the fatty, the timid, etc. It was kinda fun, but it would probably get me locked up if someone saw me
This is part of the commission I did for ~guinluvsc, for Mother's Day she wanted her mother's two cats and this is one of them, Cheesey ^^ he is a russian blue just like my own Misha, so I was able to use her as reference to make sure everything was perfect I even painted the faint lines in the tail. She wanted to me to paint the eyes too, and I think I did a much better job this time than when I painted his partner Mac.
She asked for a light blue moon but she didn't know what deco she wanted, so I suggested vines with some flowers; she asked me to do lilies, and I really like the way they turned out but wow lilies are SO difficult to do in this scale, just look at how small they are well in the end I ended up liking it, and I hope she'll like it too
