LookThere once was a boy that only had one string on his guitar. He played with this guitar every day. He played it in his back yard, among the swing sets; he even played it while walking through the village. He loved his guitar that only had one string.Look4 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
All he knew is that it made some sort of rhythm. That is all he knew. He did not know it was a guitar with one string. He most likely did not even know what a guitar was. That young lad, he does not know better.
He played and played that guitar. He wrote songs. They were wonderful songs, each by memory. He strummed that one string to the rhythm of the birds with each flight, the winds with each blow and even to other people's footsteps as they walked past. Sometimes he would even follow them. Others would always stare and watch. They wondered about this boy and that one stringed guitar.
The boy was happy. He sat there and strummed along to the birds and the winds. He learned rhythm and balance. He even tried to sing.

The little boy prayed that perhaps one day,
his mommy and daddy would stay and play.
Mom's always caught up in some messy fray,
dad is never home to play anyway.
He prayed this way...
"Dear Father in heaven I love you so,
hear these words from Tommy down here below.
I promise to be good, and this I know,
your love is like a river, it ever flows."
He went to bed and dreamt the night away,
playful dreams and happy thoughts did hold sway.
When he rose he hoped today would be the day,
that mommy and daddy with him would stay.
But as he looked around, he knew they'd gone,
off to live their lives leaving him alone.
The nanny made him toast, gave the dog a bone,
nothing really changes here in this home.
But as he slept that night, a voice so calm,
said: "Listen to me son, my little Tom.
Your prayer to me was like a pleasant Psalm,
your words to me felt like a soothing balm."
The very next day as he awoke from sleep,
his mom and dad were there, it made him weep.
The promises they

2. The fossil record has holes in it. Dinosaur and humans footprints were found side-by-side in Arizona and Turkmenistan. In Uzbekistan, 86 consecutive hoof prints of horses were found in rocks dating back to the dinosaurs. Petrified trees in Arizona's petrified forest have fossilized nests of bees and cocoons of wasps. Those forests are reputedly 220 million years old, while bees (and flowering plants which bees require) supposedly evolved almost 100 million years later.
3. No macro variations (speciation) in evolution have ever been observed. Micro evolution is species adaptations, and it's not the same as macro. Adjusting to the climate is very, very different than changing from species to another.
4. Humans have the most neurons in their brains but primates don't have even close to that amount. They aren't even in the top ten.

Remembering your words
Remembering your tears
Remembering my life
my world, your love, your smile,
You said I'd be in your heart.
You said you'd never forget
All what I gave, all what I did.
All what we shared.
The wind blows and it seems that nothing happened
The sun calls and nobody answers
The birds sing and nobody hears.
The whole sky waited for us
But you never tried.
You never saw,
You never screamed.
You never fought.
I'd never quit.
I wish my name didn't disappear from your lips.
I hope you still think of my eyes.
I hope my strokes still live on your cheeks.
I hope you miss
my hands, my chest, my hair, my laugh.
Remember me when you need a soul,
A friend, a man, a heart, a love.
No more letters to read,
No more songs,
No more games, no more jokes.
Just you and your walls,
Your pride, your noes.
An unfinished poem that nobody wrote
Or a beautiful story I wanted to draw.

AwakeningI’ve always believed that a Christian’s life should revolve around the Bible. I always thought that mine did. I’d read through the Bible 3 times, which was 3 times more than anybody else I knew my age. I read one chapter a day whenever I wasn’t too busy. I thought that was more than enough. I even had plans to start my own bible study. I thought that I had the Bible covered and that I knew it front to back.Awakening2 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
One summer, I was travelling around Montana and selling jewelry with my brother. We went to Billings to sell jewelry at the pro rodeos. I went to Cowboy Church and I had a sore throat. During the whole sermon, I was praying to God to heal me, because I got sick often. I just kept asking God, why do you let people suffer with sicknesses when you can heal them? Can’t you just heal me? Then something the speaker said caught my attention. I don’t remember her exact words, but she said something like, “Many of you are suffering ailments, and you

May the Lord bless all of you in this hour. Let's read from the Bible in 2 Corinthians 12:1-4, the Holy Word of God. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost "I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to be gained, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord. I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know-God knows. And I know that this man-whether in the body or apart from the bod

I remember the first time that I realized my mother was crazy. I don't remember the name of the town that we lived in then, but I do remember that I liked it there. It was one of those very fantasized about small towns with many friendly people. Close knit homes that stood side by side went on for what seemed like forever. Uniform, but still individual in their own way.
I was about six or seven years old. My mother, Aliss and I played at the local park for hours that day. This park was beautiful. Skinny trees with giant leaves and long branches that you could swing on all day. Grass greener than any I had ever seen before, and have yet to see even up until today. There was also a lake that was guarded off by a black iron fence that came up to my neck. This lake was home to beautiful animals, mostly just ducks. They all came in a variety of colors. I loved feeding them. It was kind of my thing. We had only

"No!" shouted Arthur. "No you can't die. You can't leave me." He held your lifeless hand tighter. "I won't allow it!"
Your life had been taken suddenly and tragically in a car accident when a drunk driver hit the driver side head on. Unfortunately you never got your justice against the drunken man who had hit you because he paid off the judge and got off scot free.
You had left Arthur, your fiancé to suffer alone. Now here he was at your funeral, making a scene.
"Iggy, dude, you need to get a hold of yourself," said Alfred putting a hand on his shoulder, "__________ wouldn't want you to be like this."
"Why would you care you idiot?" Arthur shouted though his tears. "She meant the world to me and now she's gone. If she isn't here I have no reason to either."
Alfred grabbed both of Arthur's shoulders and shook him, "Artie, are you even listening to what you're saying?"
"I bloody well do know what I'm saying," Arthur said darkly and ran off.

Some mission agencies, Wycliffe, Frontiers and SIL, are producing Bibles that remove "Father", "Son" and "Son of God" because those terms are offensive to Muslims.
The petition is trying to get them NOT to produce those Bibles.

They say the last rose
is low born -
a slow moving blossom
that bears a crooked stem.
Pluck it carefully,
to raise the dull dusk
of your dress;
flush it pale and perfect
along your thighs.
You move through the trees
like pelerines at the fair,
carrying it in your hand
the adieu of petals
already inscribed -
to score the thorns
or to leave it behind
for the one
who called you sweetheart.
The Best Case for God: RefutedThe Best Case for God: Refuted4 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
Pay it "Foreword"
I recently came across an ingenious website written to argue in favor of the existence of Yahweh, the Christian God. The argument presented is impressive, if only for its crafty misdirection and intellectual sleight-of-hand. The website is the work of Rich Deem, who seems very intelligent and well-educated. In this way he provides evidence for Michael Shermer's quote, "smart people believe weird things because they are skilled at defending beliefs they arrived at for non-smart reasons."
As I wrote this book, I began by focusing on the linked article about whether atheists have disproven God, and then branched out to other parts of the website later. I then found even more interesting arguments from William Lane Craig and addressed them as well. I've also included a fe

Look at me now
from inside out
you will find your name
written in the list
of the things I crave
at the very least.
If better you look
you may find the book
of all the silent words
my heart never spoke
all the things I'd like to tell you
but I dont have the courage to.
Maybe one day
I will try and I may
finally speak those words
just to say that to me you are the world
how silly that would be
like you dont alrdy know that about me
but I do wish more so every day
that you feel the exact same way
and my heart sits and waits
through time and dates
that it will hear you say
yes you are my sun ray
yes I feel the same way
now listen well to my words
you too for me are the world

The GunslingerThe Gunslinger5 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
"You mean you ain't never heard of the Gunslinger?"
The bar was almost dead at this time of night, and the question seemed to echo around the room - emphasising the sudden silence, rather than masking it.
"No, boy, I ain't."
Only a handful of stragglers remained, the dregs of the evening clearing the dregs of their whiskeys. The lights shone dimly, and everything moved lethargically in the warm Texas night.
"Well I'll be. I thought everyone 'round here knew the story of the 'slinger'," said one of the stragglers a tall, skinny man wearing a pale cowboy hat. A battered guitar rested on his knee.
"I'm new in town."
They sat at the bar - the musician and the newcomer. The guitarist resumed a lazy melody across the treble strings.
"Oh really?" he drawled, fingers sliding slowly over the fretboard. "And how are y'all finding our little patch of dirt?"
"Whiskey's expensive. Women all look like men," the newcomer replied. "Music's terrible," he added, eying up the musician suspiciously

Want and NeedI want so bad to hold your handWant and Need2 years ago in Songs & Lyrics More Like This
I really want to make you smile
To leave our footprints in the sand
On a beach that lasts for miles
I really want to tell you now
That everything will work out great
That we'll be together anyhow
And we'll do whatever it might take
I'm just the one that you want
But I'm not what you need
And the more memories haunt
The more we'll want to be
As we've both hurt before
And we just want that one
But you can't force a fall
When you can't help but run
I want to be the one you love
I want to say I love you too
We've hurt before and that's enough
To make us judge what we once knew
I really want to hold you tight
I really want to feel the flame
I want to tell you it's alright
But I won't lie to you again
I'm a trick to your heart
Like a leaf falling slow
The right place for the start
The right time for the grow
But what you're feeling now
You just feel due to fear
Of being alone in the town
Where the couples are clear
I want to lie in bed with you
I want to feel
