Of course, I had seen pictures, heard the stories, felt shivers in my feelers
whenever the word Ing was spoken, but I had never fathomed the seething power that
was a Hunter Ing.
I knew when I saw the creature it was an Ing. The monster of Dark Aether had
possessed a splinter from our world. I was unarmed when it lunged. I leapt back- I
was too young to fly, and I fell. I kicked the Ing-Splinter back. I was young,
spindly, with barely any training. But when I made contact with that loathsome
beast, I felt powerful. It was weakest here in my world. On Aether, we Luminoth were
on top. In the moment that it was stunned, I got to my feet and took a fighting

splinter and launched at me. It caught me in the chest, and I felt like my
exoskeleton would crack under the force of the impact. It hurt terribly- all my
