Ode to Rise AgainstThe band spoke not to the masses,Ode to Rise Against2 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
but to those whose wrists wore slashes.
Their words lacked a semblance of formality,
but were meant for those with abnormality.
The message was for all those whose pain was immense;
it told them it was time to rise, Rise Against.
Rise Against the injustice and pain.
Defend the memory of the slain.
Stand for those who are helpless.
Always try to be selfless.
Work hard for better futures.
Treat the world's wounds with sutures.
Rise Against their pseudo-perfection.
With music, they gave us direction.
Do not let yourself be tame.
Do not give in to their game.
Fight back, but not with violence,
and do not live in silence.
Rise Against the corrupt regime.
They are not as strong as they seem.
Live only by your moral laws.
Stand up, stand out, embrace your flaws.
Arm-in-arm, we make a wall.
Together, we can stand tall.
Rise Against the fanatic;
those whose beliefs are static.
They fear our success, our progress,
and so it is us they oppress.
In time, my suffer

"Turn on the news!" I half-yelled while searching for the TV remote. Nick's dad had the remote and turned the TV to A Channel News, the local news station.
"is a special news bulletin," the anchor was saying. "We have been informed by the Federal Government that several highly dangerous experiments have escaped from an illegal research facility owned by the company 'Sanctimonia' which specializes in genetics and medical research. A fire in one of the facility's storerooms damaged the security systems allowing all the experiments to escape according to one Sanctimonia researcher who was in the lab at the time. After the fire the anonymous researcher told CSIS everything about the experiments being run. Most involved genetic manipulation of animals in hopes of creating a 'super-weapon'. The Sanctimonia researcher claims that most of the experiments could take on a human appearance at will among other unusual abilities. Many of the escapees a
Starting Over, Growing UpI was sick of the pink,Starting Over, Growing Up3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
It was on every wall,
And every accent color
Was more pink.
I wanted white
A clean slate
The color of a new life
A new beginning
I asked you to help
We wore old jeans
Ripped band shirts
Nothing we minded ruining.
Me, being cautious,
I let you go on the ladder
And rip down the lights
A pink chandelier
We stripped the walls
And brushed over them
Using a massive paint roller
We turned the walls white.
I threw out the pink bedspread,
Tore up the pink carpet,
Ripped down the pink blinds
And pink valences.
Three weeks later
We sat back to back
In my new room
This was a beginning
The start of a colorful life
One lived in the bleakness
Of the every-day world

Grandma Rose's Story: OneOral TraditionGrandma Rose's Story: One5 years ago in Stories & Vignettes More Like This
She told this story one day while she did beadwork and a few of her grandchildren played nearby. She remembered her own grandmother, the one who raised her as a little girl. She talked about a time many years ago, the last time she saw her grandmother.
"My grandmother lived on a place where she had a barn and grain holders and chickens and horses. She used to let me help her take care of the chickens. The horses roamed out to pasture, coming in sometimes for hay she always had ready for them. She and I lived there together. My older cousin, a young man then, stayed with us from time to time.
"My grandmother had adopted my mother a long time ago, see, and then when my mother died, just thirty-four years old, my grandmother took me to live with her. My sisters and brother went to my other grandmother but my grandmother wanted me with her. I was just a little girl then, not even old en

A lesson that i've learnt is to not crash and burn,
as my error riddled life begins to take a turn,
i was just about to make one of the dumbest decisions in my life,
and to be quite fair to myself, i'd be putting myself in strife,
i can't afford to lose it over just a little thing,
but you can't blame me cause of the smiles that she brings,
saying her name would just be another wound in my heart,
as everything i do just seems to fall apart,
i hope that it is something that i begin to contemplate,
having second thoughts on her, as she may be fake,
but for the time being, i will take a step back,
to rejuvinate myself and to keep myself intact,
shes still in my mind but i know my chances are gone,
and now i begin to question if she was leading me on.

Two perfect strangers ,a girl and a boy,
Met by coincidence,
On a cold summer's night.
Their eyes did not meet,
As the boy's were closed,
Under the moon's vague light.
He cried in grief,
But his blindness kept him
From seeing the one that could help.
The wind set them apart,
And without saying goodbye,
They grew far away ,step by step.
That night the girl has seen
Hell's tree of knowledge,
As the guy haunted her dreams,
Giving her false hope and courage.
Waking up to reality, she met him once again.
It was a hot summer's morning,
His breaths were short and his heartbeats weak,
As he turned to walk away.
She held onto him, didn't want him to leave
But let go as his hands were freezing.
His eyes were still closed as a fog grew between them,
Preventing the girl from saying the words,
that's the price she will pay.
"You will not say goodbye, nor meet him again"
Said the fog, as it vanished,
Turning into tears that fell down on the grave
In her heart that her soul has banished.

We're not quite there yet
On the dark side of the moon
As they hang out stars like decorating a tree
Wrapping the sun up in tinfoil
Spreading a new blanket of snow up on the ground
Sprinkling sand across beds of seaweed
Waiting for the moon to go down
Writing words up on the wind
Folding paper planes just right
Tucking the volcano into for the night
Making waves by jumping into the sea
Counting souls 1, 2, 3
Singing songs of forgotten lore
Telling the world to sleep as we close the door
Tapping out Morse codes with our toes
Screaming out loud while blowing your nose
Geese flying backwards into space
Grass hoppers hopping along with the human race
Laying down the law enforcing the weather
Drawing a circle into a square
Riding a wild westerly wind
Falling upwards wearing a grin
Travel with me form the past
Holding out for hope will it last?
Hopscotch and jacks while pouring out the dew
Come along follow the sun as she races around the world
Follow me, follow me and deed my words

He touches his heart
He touches his heart
With the tip of his hand
Feeling the pain of loneness
Something he could barely stand
Looking towards the setting sun
Feeling of dread coming over him
Soon he would have to do it again
Crawling into bed cold and empty
Slipping his hand through his hair
Wishing oh god wishing someone was there
Slumbering long hours never wishing to awaken
Knowing all of his life there was no one waiting
Stirring in his soul telling he had to grow old
Wondering where was she?
Pouring a cup of hot joe
As he stubs his bare toe
On life's broken dreams
Wanting to run out
Wanting to scream and shout
"God where is she?"
Walking in a dream he sees something blue
Soon he feels something shifting
As the wind started drifting
"Hello good day" She smiles his way
Time talking turning from days to weeks to months
Yet they still speak he grows weak
She giggles and whispers and trips over air
He laughs as he tells her its ok he still cares
Slowly moving towards one goal

Introduction: How to Spot a Drow Illusionist
I can identify a habitual roleplayer from fifty paces. Those who've been spooked by my asking whether they're a roleplayer within ten seconds of reading their fiction will know what I'm talking about.
"But how did you know?" they gasp. When I'm done chuckling, I explain that I know they are a roleplayer, because they write like a roleplayer.
There's usually a pause, then, while the writer decides to what degree they're going to feel offended by this statement, and/or wonders whether I've been stalking them, before they pose the next question: "What, exactly, do you mean by that?"
What I mean is this: roleplayers almost invariably share the same basic writing habits, and some of these habits stand out as flaws in their non-RP material.
Many people develop their interest in writing

Is not a warning
To dwell upon
Until His coming
Shall we be waiting?
Our Lord's return!?
Our task is given!
It has been written!
We have a mission!
That must be done!
To shine our light
Make the world bright
Present this sight
As his welcome
For when Christ cometh
Though no man knoweth
In faith we soweth
We faithful ones
Think not of when
Think not of where
We must prepare
Until He comes
