FROZEN BRAVERY - CHAPTER 117th January 2009FROZEN BRAVERY - CHAPTER 12 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
Every creature – magical or not – would have assumed that Jack Frost was a skilled troublemaker. You would've guessed that he was responsible for the cold gusts of wind that chilled you to the core; for the icy spot on the pavement that makes you trip over yourself; for the five-foot layer of snow that you have to scrape off your walkways, windshields and window panes.
Jack knew very well who he was – the master of pranks, and the champion of tricks. But he wouldn't let his ego overinflate. You see, whilst every hero might be in the spotlight, and every king on his throne, Jack never forgot that they had sidekicks and knights – people who backed them up.
And so did he.
'Are the targets in sight?' asked Jack, murmuring to his co-conspirator.
His friend leaned over the railing that they were sitting on, smirked as he spotted his victims, and nodded vigorously.
'Then, on the count of three,' smiled Jack. 'One,'
'Wait, wait, wait,' said his accomplice, 'why do you

As he was lay there, Scorpio caught his attention. Scorpio twinkled, and motioned toward North America with one of his arms. The Man on the Moon peered over the edge of the moon to see quite a terrible sight.
A young man was holding his arm out to his sister, who was on a very thin layer of ice. In fact, both of them were in mortal danger. The scene was quite morbid.
The Man on the Moon reached for his fishing pole when Scorpio stopped him. He looked to Scorpio in protest but it was no use. Scorpio wanted him to watch this, but why? What was going to happen?
The Man on the Moon decided to follow Scorpio’s gesture. As he began to watch, he heard the other constellations whispering. The mutters an

With my skates slung over my back, I raced farther ahead of my sister and down into the clearing where the lake stood, surface frozen solid. I smiled wide, and sat down before kicking off my shoes, pulling the skates off my shoulder and onto my feet. I stood up and tested my balance, leaning back and forth of them with my arms extended.
Sophie ran down to me, sliding in the snow and falling to her bottom. She giggled and grabbed her own skates, taking off her shoes and pulling the skates on. Looking up at me, she grinned shyly.
"Can you tie them, Jamie?"
I smiled and nodded, leaning down to help her tie the laces, looping the strings around each other. Once I made sure they were tied, I sat bac

"The world will know your name!"
“Children are beginning to fear me again!”
“I’ve grown quite fond of you, Jack Frost.”
“I won’t let you go.”
“I fear nothing.”
“Only you, Jack.”
Jack woke with a sudden start, nearly falling off of his branch and toppling into a heap of snow beneath him.
He looked around quickly, not really taking anything in, just looking for the source of the voice he thought he heard. He searched the bushes in front of him, the frozen lake beneath him, even the tree itself. There were idle shadows—but he knew better than to linger on them, for his mind sometime played dangerous tricks—but there was no one to be found; at least not in the physical realms around him. Jack slowly settled back down against his branch, his mind still buzzing, his heart beat echoing in his ears and his skin set aflame.
"What a weird dream." He muttered s

The winter spirit sighed as he walked along the dimly lit sidewalk, thinking about what had happened earlier in the day. For the first time, the Guardians had welcomed him to the North Pole- well, rather kidnapped him and then welcomed him. Needless to say, the whole situation was new and strange to him, and he was conflicted on how to react to it.
Am I happy the Guardians were finally acknowledging his existence? Definitely, overjoyed actually. But the thing that keeps nagging at me, is why now? Why now, out of the blue, when I have been around for three hundred years?
After the confrontation with the Guardians, Jack flew out of the North Pole as soon as possible; he needed time to think. He flew to his favorite town to visit, Burgess. Why was

Jack felt positively awkward at the moment.
It had been a few weeks since they had managed to send Pitch back into the shadows under the beds of children all around the world and the Guardians had begun to reorganize and indulge into their duties. The lights on the Globe were once again increasing but it still would be a long way to go until all of the children believed once again.
But they had time now; Pitch wouldn’t be coming back all too soon. But the Boogeyman wasn’t what bothered the Guardian of fun as he was sitting together with the other legends at the Pole drinking a mug of hot chocolate, discussing what needed to be done to bring joy to the children again.
Jack did not feel awkward because he was being asked by everyone if he could lend them a hand (which he was more willing than ever, he wanted to make up to Bunnymund especially).

How could you know that your life was going to change with one single chance meeting, one little tug of fate and your life became an adventure.
1:34 AM Tuesday
You couldn't sleep that night, your mind a buzz with thoughts and stories. You liked making up stories, It was the only thing that seemed to cheer you up on nights like these when the snow was falling slowly.
You wiggled around in your bed trying your best to get comfortable but it was no use. Every possible position just didn't feel right. You finally gave up with trying to fall asleep, and instead sat up in your bed leaning close to the window so you could get a better view outside at the snow covered houses.
The winter wonderland of a view outside your house was breathtaking, never once has your little town had such a beautiful winter. You decided to have a little fun well stuck awake tonight, so leaning close to the window you slowly breath

Jack, when I was a little girl, I would look out my window during winter and watch the snow fall. I had a weak constitution so I was never allowed to go out and play in the snow or I would catch pneumonia. I'd watch the snowflakes fall from inside my room and thank you for them rather than Santa Claus. When I was sick I'd make little paper snowflakes for you and give them to my parents to hang on our tree outside. When I was lonely I'd draw pictures in the frost on my window. I remember you would occasionally open my window to let in a perfectly formed snowflake as if to say, "Look at the beautiful thing I made for you." When I turned 19 my best friend died and I had lost all hope. Yet at the funeral, even though it was in September, you made it snow for me. When I took my own life the last words to leave my lips were, "I'll always believe in you Jack Frost." And I meant it. My only wish is that you remember me.

Time passed; what felt like hours were probably only minutes. Forcing myself, I manage to move, leaning back to kneel on my calves, rubbing my eyes clear of my tears.
I don't understand any of this. My small breakdown wasn't going to be as bad as I thought; I sigh slowly, looking about the area. The moon illuminated the damage I had done to the trees and rocks; some of the trees' branches were cracked and I glance at the ground beneath them, shaking my head at the small bits of ice beneath them. I made the branches fall…
Standing up, using my staff as support, I lost my footing and fell backwards on the ice, my head hitting the hard surface with a soft thud sound. "Ow…" I groan loudly, curling up on the ice and rubbing the back of my head. The spot that hurt stung, but I was trying my best to ignore it.
I stood up again, slowly, leaning on m

It wasn’t as much as bad feeling, rather it was a kind of guilt Jack felt whenever the topic Pitch was brought up by his fellow Guardians and still Jack couldn’t tell them. He couldn’t tell them because they probably wouldn’t understand and even if they were family now, Jack just wasn’t sure if they wouldn’t feel betrayed by the sympathy that still lingered inside of him for the Boogeyman.
He was not blinded though. He knew Pitch had done terrible things, unforgivable things and that he had hurt a lot of people and children out of selfishness. That didn’t change the fact that he had done it out of loneliness, out of spite, out of an utter need to show that he still existed and that fear held some value, that it was even necessary so that children could still live having fun without getting out of hand and endangering themselves.
Jack had grinned crooke

His lips were fire against Jack’s icy nape—a groan escaped the boy’s freed lips, giving Pitch enough fire to continue back up to the Winter’s jaw. His hands felt like molten lava against Jack’s bare stomach, leaving red, hot trails of desire whatever and wherever they felt like conquering.
Jack groaned softly as Pitch’s tongue slid back against his own—Jack didn’t fight; he didn’t feel the need to. Pitch grinned against Jack’s lips, his hands clutching at the fabric of Jack’s tattered sweatshirt as he once more claimed the Winter’s lips with bruising force. Pitch’s grey skinned arms reached around Jack’s waist and clutched him to his chest tightly.
Jack wrapped his arms around Pitch’s neck, panting softly as he planted one, two, three softer kisses on the older man’s lips before pulling away ever so slowly. Pitch almost felt rejected before realizing th

A woman’s voice quietly called out to her companions. “What should we do now, North?”
North turned around to face Toothiana and the other guardians with a sigh. They were trudging through the thick, densely snow-covered woods for some time now in search of the sleigh. The battle with Pitch had been brutal; it was a miracle none of them were seriously harmed, although they had been separated for a while. Luckily, they had agreed to meet up in the forest below them beforehand. However, it had not been part of the plan to lose the sleigh.
North simply looked at Toothiana before shrugging. “We find the sle

Frightened him because he was helpless. That he could not control... That he'd lost all power. All resistance. All honor and worth.

A nightmare’s neigh echoed within the darkness of the lair, alerting me that it had made its way back. It emerged in front of me shortly after, reconstructing its shape back into that of a horse, prancing forward. I caressed its nose gently, feeling its rough, cold skin. It nickered softly, beginning to tell me of what it had learned so far from tailing Jack.
“They’ve gone their separate ways then? That’s fine, it doesn’t matter anyway. Should I attack again, it’s best to take them on one by one, especially with Jack in their ranks. So, where’s Jack now?” I asked, circling the globe at the center of the room.

A few months passed, maybe even an entire year before they met again. Jack needed his space, and the Boogeyman gave it to him—after all, he had made children believe in the Boogeyman again, and Pitch felt he owed the boy that much at least.
Pitch never properly thanked him either. He could remember the day perfectly! How Jack had appeared before the children who could see him and told them stories of the hideous Boogeyman who haunted their dreams and closets and hid under their beds till morning.
Those children believed in the Boogeyman then, and their fears fueled the Boogeyman’s return to power temporarily, giving him enough juice to send out at least a few Nightmares to other children—and his power crept back into the darkness, into his very blood and through his veins—and his reign became supreme once more.
And even now, as Pitch stared up at the flurry of ice and the volley of snow balls being pitched to and fro wh

Three little clucking chickens that were huddled in their pen came close as you spread out the feed out in front of them. They pecked at it quickly while you looked around.
It was a quiet little village with dirt paths covered in horseshoe prints and log houses. A few people were out doing their morning chores like you, some waving as they passed by.
