Very sad news to all of Marks friends. (Kram666)I visited Marks homepage and discovered this message left by his brother.Very sad news to all of Marks friends. (Kram666)1 year ago in Personal More Like This
"This is Simon, Mark's brother, with the terribly sad news that Mark passed away last week.
This was a huge shock to us all.
I helped him set up his PC with all his drawing tools so knew how much he adored producing his bespoke digital artwork and how much the Deviant art community meant to him.
On his behalf I'd like to thank you all for the friendship and support you've shown and would ask you to pause for a minute at 14:20 on Monday 1st October. (British Summer Time)
With Kind Regards.
As Mark often quoted.
"I felt the call of the jungle, primal and clean.
I felt my connections to the wild in every cell in my body;
realized that I am among the trees,
the plants, the grass, the sky. The trees know

On Unknown ArtistsThis article was originally inspired by a discussion with ~Alavesa and posted in a journal here but people told me I should make it a news article So here's a revised (hopefully improved) version. Any updates and additions will be posted there. On Unknown Artists3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Tip for unknown artists
First, this is something I find many just don't realise... Did you know that you're way more likely to meet new friends and getting your work noticed if you interact with unknown artists, instead of only watching already popular ones? Unknown artists will appreciate any feedback you leave them a lot more (be it a critique, a fave etc.), and often will keep talking to you and return the favour, while to many popular artists, you may be just another drop in the sea.
Remember, the amounts of exposure you get doesn't just depend on the quality of your work you'll have to get some people to look in the first pla

AwOken colors 2.5 - first beta releaseAnd here we go!AwOken colors 2.5 - first beta release1 year ago in Personal More Like This
First beta of new AwOken 2.5, with all the colored icons you saw in the gallery, and more that I didn't uploaded before. Ubuntu 12.10 and Gnome 3.6 compatibility.
Please try it, and feel free to send me any bug you find (also the littlest one ). The customization script should work properly, but be aware that probably the coloration script can have some problems since I have to fix some issues related to the new icons I added.
Here's the link: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8029324/AwOken.zip
Simply extract it and place it in your .icons folder. Remember that by default the iconset come with the color option enabled, but you can always return back to the monochrome version through the customization script

Linux Mint New MDMWell I must say this one got me so excited, I stopped working on my normal android stuff and started making some animated MDM themes, that's right, animated, not static, which is what got my attention.Linux Mint New MDM8 months ago in Personal More Like This
This is coming in the next version as far as I know, but you can grab it now here: http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2327
it gives you instructions how to install it and where to get it.
I have already made quite a few of these if you check my gallery you can take your pick from them to try out (you must install the new mdm to get them to work on your system).
So what does all this mean for linux mint? well as my favorite distro it just got better with full blown html5 animations on the loading screen, you can even create a game if you want for your loading screen now.
I tend to stick with animations but anything you can do with html5 for a web page can pretty much be done now with MDM, I only came across a couple of things so far thaat would not work and that might be to my lack of knowledge
How to use Network-Manager in BE::ShellIf you use Networkmanager and multible network connections in BE::Shell it could be that you are missing an applet for it.How to use Network-Manager in BE::Shell1 year ago in Personal More Like This
But you can take network manager from GNOME (tested in Kubuntu 12.04):
1. Install network-manager-gnome
2. run nm-applet from runner (or krunner (alt+F2) if it is not disabled)
that's it! If you test it in other distributions, please give me feedback!
Batch Lossy JPG And PNG Compression ScriptOk so this sounds pretty cool!Batch Lossy JPG And PNG Compression Script1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Article Courtesy Of: WEBUPD8
Article Link: http://www.webupd8.org/2012/12/batch-lossy-jpg-and-png-compression.html
"WebUpd8 reader Bruce Ingalls has created a script for batch lossy compression of jpg and png files. The script is useful if you have a lot of images - e.g., you can run it to compress all the images used by a website, etc.
The script compresses only the files for which the resulted compressed image is detected to be smaller than the original image file. It uses GraphicsMagick which Bruce says is better for compression than ImageMagick (~15% smaller images with GraphicsMagick than with ImageMagick) and also faster, when compressing a large number of images.
Also, the script doesn't overwrite the original files and instead, it places the compressed images under a folder called "compressed". You can configure the compressed directory path/name, the compression ratio (40 by default) and the png compression ratio of transparent background (05
Dagenham - Steampunk StyleDagenham is dead. This monstrous misplanned placeDagenham - Steampunk Style1 week ago in Personal More Like This
Must kill the best that's in the human race,
The town's a blot upon the River's side"
The traveller spoke, but yet I knew he lied.
Dead? When I have seen those bitter fights
Where bosses schemed, and craftsmen held their rights,
And welded with a sure and patient hand
Their doubting fellows in a solid band?
Where girls with shielded eyes and new-found skill
Beneath a blinding glare of sparkling showers,
Make white-hot metal streams obey their will
Creating joints that held tremendous power.
No! Dagenham lives, and spite of darkest night,
Will play its part in struggles for the right.
The ones who live amidst this sorry scheme
Will help to build the Britain of our dream.

WHAT'S UP IN FEBRUARYWell, January is coming to a close, and so is the 2013 Poetry Bash. This was the best year yet for this event, and I do appreciate everybody who has been supporting it by either downloading and using the information, or giving my works a fave. All of the poems will remain in my gallery for a few weeks after the Bash ends. I will then be deleting the less popular ones, so if you want to download any of them, please look through them and get the ones you want. The Order Of The Dragon contest comes to a close in a few hours, and tomorrow I will be announcing the big winner. This has been the biggest turn out voting wise, and I can't thank you all enough for your support.WHAT'S UP IN FEBRUARY11 months ago in Personal More Like This
