Winners will be announced on Monday~ >w< Hopefully I can decide during the weekend. This is definitely going to be hard to decide. @ W @
Thanks everyone who participated~
This contest's theme is: POKEMON!
Do not include humans of any sort. The subject are Pokemon, not trainers or other humans in the Pokemon universe.
(Note: No humans means no humans of any sort. Examples: Pokemon who are canonically humanoid like most fighting types are fine, but no humans dressing as pokemon or pokemon turned into humans or any other sort of hybrid. This also means that trainers can only be referenced in a story if your entry is a written story. DO NOT HAVE ANY HUMANS AS A CENTRAL ROLE. ONLY HAVE THEM MENTIONED IF YOU NEED TO.)

Wheatley Puppet FAQWow! So it's been over a year since I started my puppet project and I'm still getting messages and questions about Wheatley every week. You guys are nuts! let's say you meet your future self. your future self claims he has the ability to time travel, something you currently don't have. he gives you a note written in your own hand and tells you to keep it. you do.
some amount of time passes. you gain the ability to time travel, and you in turn go back to your past self and give him the note you've had all this time.
where did the note come from? it's in your own hand, but you never wrote it - you got it from your future self back when you were the past self. when you in turn become the future self, you don't need to write the note because it's already written. you just pass the note back to your past self.
this works with knowledge too: let's say you play roulette often, and your future self tells you what roulette numbers will win. the next time you play roulette you play those numbers and rake in a

Closing thoughts on SASR's Art "Theft"Hey everyone!Closing thoughts on SASR's Art "Theft"4 years ago in Personal More Like This
As you may all have heard, Steve Lycett over at Sumo did write an apology on one of his level artist's behalf, and a thoughtful, pleasant one at that!
He explained to me that what happened was that early in the development stages of the game, one of the level artists were making placeholder artwork and searched via google for official Sonic pictures. Apparently, he thought my picture of Sonia was official.
The artwork was sent to Sonic Team, and they noticed that my picture of Sonia didn't belong to them. They were told to fix this on all platforms. Somehow they missed it on the Wii version and the "low detail tracks" of the PC version. They're most likely going to remove the image from the PC version, but the image on the Wii version is stuck in there.
He also explained how they never meant to steal or not give any credit or a thanks.
It all makes sense to me. And SEGA staff members offered a degree of compensation (something "nice" out of their so-called goodie bag). I

Closest Thing to a Rant You'll GetHave been reading a few of these journals going back and forth about bad taxidermy, proper practices, and beginners cutting corners to make the hobby cheaper. I'd normally not get involved, but bad taxidermy pisses me off more than foxtards and wolfaboos combined. So, I feel that it's about time I shared my opinion on these topics.Closest Thing to a Rant You'll Get2 years ago in Personal More Like This
To begin with, I am addressing ALL taxidermists here - not just 'plushers' or 'traditionalists'. I'm speaking about taxidermy as a whole - as a form of art - and addressing the entire community.
Truth is, there are some pretty awful mounts floating around on DA that NEVER needed to look as horrible as they do. And while I do agree that everyone has to start somewhere, that's still not an excuse for a LOT of what I've seen.
People who use bad products and botched mounting techniques, who buy expensive pelts to practice on, and who keep skipping out on advice from those with more experience entirely, not only produce horrible works - they end up making the who

So here's the deal--the vast majority of what they covered were things that were already illegal and we all know not to trade in, like leopard, tiger, etc. However, they've also added all the animals covered by the Endangered Species Act http://ecos.fws.gov/tess_public/pub/listedAnimals.jsp
The banned list includes a few animals I've seen traded in fairly frequently, including abalones, alligators, Canadian lynx, bears, and cougars. So if you have anything on the lists, time to take it down!
Please don't panic or yell at Etsy. This isn't Etsy singling out dead critter artists. Mostly it's them clarifying their terms AND trying to abide by the laws of the land. eBay has banned bear and cougar for years, probably because so many states ban them anyway. I see this as a good thing; it's a way to protect species that are in serious trouble, and gives a little more boost to those trying to stop that tra
Tutorial for Fossilizing BonesNot gonna make a fancy image for this... So all the info is in this journal.Tutorial for Fossilizing Bones3 months ago in Personal More Like This
**~** I have LOTS of these older bones, cheap if anyone is interested. **~**
How to create a Faux Fossilized Finish on Any bone or Antler Surface.
Step 1- Picking the right Bone:
Three Important things to remember-
1- NO Bone that has been Painted, Sealed or glued!
2- No Bone that has coffin wax or dried cartilage!
3- No bone that is Crumbling!
If it doesn't have any of these issues it will work! Fresh or old. Paints, seals and glue will not take the dye the same way and will look weird. Coffin wax will not take ANY color, so you will end up with White spots. Crumbling bone will want to break down during the process, re-exposing the bare bone.
This is the terrifying one... Using cheap acrylic Paint (craft store kind), Paint the bone BLACK (dark brown or grey can also be used) Be sure to get it into ALL of the recess

Gijinka Project. Commissions, Trades and RequestsEdits: Prints!Gijinka Project. Commissions, Trades and Requests3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, it seems like Da has finally decided to pay us real money for prints? I'm not too sure that's what's going on, but I know I'm going to enable more prints now!
it would be awesome if you guys helped me out and requested some prints. Just so I know what other people like!
Guys, I'm in need of help. If I don't get 500$ near May, I'll get kicked out of the house. No more questions asked, done. I may even need to get even more money then that, because I'm behind in 2 months of rent. So I really, really need to do some more commissions. I'm going to start to try and see some bookmarks and other things, but art commissions are the fastest way of me earning some cash. So I would be very thankful if you faved this entry or just passed this along.
What is the Gijinka Project?
I'm going to draw, or upload one Pokemon Gijinka onto my Da account for at least a year. Or until I no longer have free time and can't catch up.

Horses Are For Courses! With all this talk of horse meat in the news lately, it's time we take a step back and really ask ourselves all the fuss is about.Horses Are For Courses!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
History of Horse Meat
Horses are often revered as working animals, and companions. They've greatly contributed to the advancing of civilizations, from the horse-drawn war chariots of the Romans, to the Pony Express of the Old West, horses have had a significant and lasting effect on all of the civilizations that have adopted them. These faithful, hardworking animals have had a place at our side since we first domesticated them. But horses were on the menu long before we were on their backs.
Horse meat was central to our ancestors' diet and played a sacred role in rituals and customs. For example, Celtic chieftains were buried with their steeds, the Vikings' favorite meat was horse meat, and Caligula even appointed his horse as a Senator of Rome. The switch from food source to working animal can be partially attributed to Pope Gregory III in the 8th c
Dear DeviantArt Taxidermy Community...I just wanted to write to you, as I feel I can't express how I feel in person. You know I'll always love you, and we've been best friends for five years now.Dear DeviantArt Taxidermy Community...1 year ago in Personal More Like This
The problem is... you've changed.
We've grown apart. Where I once respected, and even looked up to you, I know look at you with nothing but resignation and contempt.
Where you were once noble, honest, and respectful, you're now full of illegal activity, under-age disgusting little prats and hideous soft mounts. Every day, I see some dArama in my inbox about someone wailing that a pelt they sold got mutilated, or so-and-so copied their idea, or crying that they don't have enough money and mummy and daddy won't buy them that seven-hundred-dollar pelt.
I tried helping you, I really did. When there's a noobie breaking the laws, I've always politely and tolerantly privately told them the law, to help stop them getting into trouble. And what happens? With every single case, that person has told me they'll follow the law, then turned rou
Asking advice. On one of my recent posts, I had a beginner interested in taxidermy ask me some very basic questions regarding howto mount a wolf for a headdress. The pelt they showed me they intended to use is this one: http://www.hideandfur.com/inventory/74801025.htmlAsking advice.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It doesn't have lips for tucking, the eye-holes look enlarged, and it is not taxidermy-quality, not even for a headdress.
They openly admitted that they'd never done taxidermy before. They don't know how to re-hydrate a pelt, or even measure one in order to buy a proper form. When I told them that they needed to do more research, invest in a proper hide, and seek professional instruction, they said, I've done stuff like this before, called me mean, got upset, and blocked my account.
This in itself doesn't actually bother me. But what does is the fact that this is NOT the first time something like this has happened. Beginners seeking advice seem to get butt-hurt when those with more experience explain that they are by no means ready to

Taxidermists Beware! There are a couple of deviants who are contacting American taxidermists on the hunt for wolf pelts. They are VERY adamant that they want the hides and will pay extra to get them shipped to Europe. If you tell them "NO", even multiple times, they will make the usual excuses: But I have money for shipping, I've seen wolf pelts here before!, I know sellers on eBay who ship pelts internationally without permits!, and so on.Taxidermists Beware!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I thought I'd finally gotten rid of the first one, but then a friend of theirs contacted me with some sob story about how the first had a medical condition and found "no joy in life" aside from the want for a wolf headdress. They told me they had a friend in the USA who I could ship the finished headdress to, and that they'd find a way to get it from there. I was still reluctant to work with them, but gave them a quote for a full taxidermy-style black wolf headdress with custom eyes nevertheless.
The response was "Your head really isnt normal, girl. Ofcourse NO. Things
Give Me Your Soundtracks!I know I can't be the only one out there who soundtracks for her stories and characters. If Youtube is anything to go by, people see music videos for everything. I am constantly on the hunt for new music, because music opens up creative doors for my process. I see things for my characters and story that I could not otherwise do on my own. Movies and books provide inspiration, but music is in a class all its own.Give Me Your Soundtracks!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
In celebration of that, I invite my watchers and fellow writing enthusiasts to try a creative exercise: offer up the soundtrack to your own writing. You never know, you might just give someone else the perfect song to complete their own soundtrack's story. It's my hope that people will post a musical narrative that evokes the journey of their characters and story.
Creativity on DeviantArt is far too often seen as a commodity, something to be selfishly hoarded instead of shared. The best sort of creativity is the kind that inspires.
In the spirit of that, since it's the ho

DA pointsAlright, I've seen this happening way too many times and I want to say something about it.DA points2 years ago in Personal More Like This
100 DA points is not not worth much.
You can buy 800 DA points for $10 USD.
800 divided by 10 is 80.
80 DA points = $1
100 DA points = $1.25
If you're offering commissions for 100 points, you're being paid $1.25. If you're offering 100 points for a prize on a contest, you're offering $1.25. I've even seen 50 points ($0.63) or 20 points ($0.25). I don't know how much it is in other currencies, but I can't imagine it's much.
I spend at least 3-5 hours on a painting. Minimum wage is $7.50 USD where I live. That is not even enough to live on if you're working full time, so I expect to make at least that much for every hour I spend on doing art for someone else. If 80 points is $1, and minimum wage is $7.50, then the minimum cost for a commission that only takes an hour is 600 points. When I open up my own commissions, I take sketches for $10 and paintings for $20+ Depending on how much time it takes,

It is not only reasonable to question when it comes to matters of faith, but also responsible. If we are not open to questioning certain beliefs, held by ourselves or by others, whether secular or sacred, then we will be tossed about on the waves of popular opinion, or become potential victims of those wolves in sheep’s clothing who prey on the ignorance of others. - G.S. The supreme function of reason is to show man that some things are beyond reason. - Blaise Pascal
I realize anew that, just as we must learn to obey God one choice at a time, we must also learn to trust God one circumstance at a time. Trusting God is not a matter of my feelings but of my will. I never feel like trusting God when adversity strikes, but I can choose to do so even when I don't feel like it. That act of the will, though, must be based on belief, and belief must be based on truth.
