The other day I was sitting in class rather frustrated with everything and the people around me. I'm in a split class with grade 10's, 11's and us... the 12's, so there was about 15 minutes left in class and i had noticed this grade 11 boy glance over at me every so often.. thinking it was strange i finally exchanged a long look with him, it caught me off guard when all he did was smile at me then turned to leave. Now i've never talked to him, and i know he didn't mean anything with the smile. But the look he gave me almost said: "you look upset today but thats ok, smile with me?" So i smiled back.
That actually changed my outlook on my entire day. Something as small as some kid sharing a smile with me, It kinda made me think about how simple the whole thing was.
Sorry i'm just blabbering my feels towards the world.
Then today a little girl in my other art program was just talking about how excited she is to grow up and graduate and move out an

This journal is a placeholder, I will add content to this journal at some later date. I upload many journals at once so that you can easily delete them all at once. The alternative is to upload journals one at a time which is far more cumbersome because I need to move the front page journal every time as well. I apologize for the inconvenience.

else there is."
Yeah, four years and you still choose to steal and lie and hide behind password protected TUMBLRs.
Take a hint. You wouldn't have to deal with this if you'd JUST FUCKING STOP STEALING.
No you can't copyright poses but IT'S OBVIOUS that you are referencing and WHO you are referencing. You could have the COURTESY to CREDIT or just tell people what you looked at to get a pose idea from.
Okay, if the poses you are using are SOOOO generic, then why referencing again and again from Uriko or Katie or Tofu, hm? WHy not find that SUPER GENERIC pose on google? Funny how they're SOOO generic yet you keep referencing from the same people over and over and don't bother to credit. Yeah I saw you credited Tofu on that ONE pic out of the hundreds you've made but in yo

How to: Make thumbs big in features?I get this asked a lot!How to: Make thumbs big in features?2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Back when they introduced sta.sh, I didn't really use it. Because it seemed hard to get used to. I always wrote my articles in the old way.
Then I toyed with it a little and noticed that is is something really awesome!
Not to mention that the only way to make articles and journals is through Sta.sh Writer.
So I assume not so many if you know that there is a way to make thumbs big!
That is actually pretty easy. All you have to do is add big in front of a thumb code!

This is the "regular" size

Of course: without the spaces between the colon ( : )
But this is not what I wanted to show

CHARACTER DESIGN CONTESTSo, if you read my journal, I have restarted working on my comic; "Help?"!CHARACTER DESIGN CONTEST1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Long time ago I had a character design contest for the comic where people designed characters that WILL appear in the comic, and since it was so successful(I love them!) and was so fun, I thought HEY LET'S DO IT AGAIN! We will need a lot of characters, so why not get some help? (Hehe.. help... you see what I did there?)
The rules are simple:
- Design a character
- Draw/write the description
- Send me a note about it and BAM you're in!
11th of November
There will be TWO winners, and both winners will get the following:
- Your design will appear in the comic!(With a proper credit, so it's a nice way to promote yourself!)
- An original artwork of your character drawn by Harkill aka ME!
- One pack of stickers made b
ALWAYS SIGN YOUR WORK and other stuffHi folks. I was gonna make this journal sooner or later, but there's not a more appropriate time than NOW, when my 'Sorry we're closed' http://ry-spirit.deviantart.com/art/Sorry-we-re-CLOSED-162673296 artwork got posted on 9gag right http://m.9gag.com/gag/6281912 ! Not only did the person not credit the artist or link it to my page or whatever, they even changed the title of this artwork to 'S**t Happens'. Come on man... WHAT ALSO sucks is that back then I had a different logo, its like that box with a thunder symbol on it, it doesn't have my username on it either... so people could just look at that picture and have no idea who drew it. I mean this artwork is OLD.. like more than 2 years old.. so I was still new to how the internet works when it comes to sharing. So now this 9gag post gets like 16k of likes and over 500k of views and I don't get a single credit. *Flips a table*. Remember how I endlessly praised Joss Whedon a couple of weeks ago because not only did he repost my work oALWAYS SIGN YOUR WORK and other stuff2 years ago in Personal More Like This
John Bauer and his trollsJohn Bauer's life was very short and very sad. Despite this, he left behind many illustrations that later became inspiration for loads of later artists, like Arthur Rackham, Sulamith Wülfing or Kay Nielsen. 36 gloomy years
Born in 1882 in Jönköping, Sweden, he grew up with two brothers and a sister, Anna, who died very early, at the age of 13, which badly effected John and his brothers and left visible marks in their minds for the rest of their lives. Their father used to own a charcuterie and the apartment they lived in was located above the shop.
He started sketching very early in his childhood, although there is no formal date known. In 1898, when young Bauer was 16, he moved to Stockholm to study art and two years

My Art School RantI mentioned I had a rant about art schools and many of you said you wanted to hear it. Well, its long so I hope you meant it. This will make some of you angry, but I hope not. I love art schools and I love their instructors even more! Many art instructors are friends of mine. This rant is about the art school teaching SYSTEM. Money drives that, just like any other business, so there will be mistakes made because of greed. So, without further ado.....My Art School Rant3 years ago in Personal More Like This
My Art School Rant
I have a love-hate relationship with art schools. I love what they stand for- the pursuit of and love for creating great art! I still get excited walking into an art school. Seeing all the rows and rows of wonderful Macs, the energy (or lack thereof- we ARE talking about art students, after all), the artwork on the walls, the postings of upcoming events and guest speakers, the dirty floors, the whole
WARNING to etsy sellers-do NOT sell to this personI feel the need to share this because this person is currently active on etsy, buying things and then issuing credit card chargebacks to get the money back after receiving the items. Like I said, she is currently buying artwork (dolls, sculptures, etc) on etsy. Please spread the word, I don't want others to get scammed by this person! She seem

The Blue UmbrellaIt's finally public. After working on the film "Brave" I spent 6 months as a Master Lighting Lead working on Pixar's latest short film, and I had to keep everything secret while working on the film. we finished it in October/November last year and now it's finally announced to the world. It's title is "The Blue Umbrella" and I can't wait for the film to truly be out in the world. It will premiere in February in Berlin, but most of the world at large will be able to see it this summer before "Monsters University". I can't say much more about the film or details yet about the struggles and fun we had making it, but that will come eventually. I'm very proud of this little short. Anyway, have a sneak peak...The Blue Umbrella2 years ago in Personal More Like This

With the growth in popularity of the e-book many authors are seeing a glimmer of hope and realizing that they can get their work out there without having to break into the velvet roped publishing house exclusive party. This means that you will begin to get even more solicitations from those authors looking for artists to bring visuals to their words.
If you have a website or have done any degree of online advertising of your artwork, you have probably gotten an e-mail with a similar message as the title. If not, you will at some point. It's best to be prepared now. For those who have gotten it, nine times out of ten you aren’t sure how to respond to it, what should you ask, how do you respond?
I was tired of retyping essentially the same letter over and over again. I finally saved a template of the letter I use in this situation
