OBJECTIVE: SELL THIS DAMN BOOK, DANNY.
At first, Gabriel was nothing more than a character named ONE. He had no backstory, no face, nothing. I just wanted to create a character that was a badass, yet with a sense of humor.
I was inspired by such characters as Boba Fett, Wolverine, Deadpool and Clint Eastwood from The Man With No Name trilogy. I needed to create something that fit that build, however, I'll admit, it wasn't intended at first.
I uploaded him on December 8th, 2008, (which, you can find here: http://danluvisiart.deviantart.com/art/GABRIEL-107612010?q=gallery%3Adanluvisiart%2F7848546&qo=50) and he became one of the most popular characters of the series, if not, the most. Soon I started finding him on forums, websites, fashion blogs (what?), and more.
But what hit me so hard was that the majority of the comments rela

OBJECTIVE: CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND STORY BUILDING
I began working pretty heavily on LMS during the first quarter of 2009. I had now a handful of characters, a rough idea of the story, and a general scope of what I wanted the book to be. To get started, I felt every book should have a theme. Movies do, right?
Spider-Man: Great powers, great responsibility.
Batman: Be more than just a man, a symbol, and be remembered a legend.
Star Wars: The myth of a heroes destiny, and the truth that allows him to be set free.
Who was Gabriel? What type of character or archetype was he? What were his rises and

Scanning Tutorial for Clean Pencil drawingsWhen I do a finished pencil drawing, I typically keep the drawing as clean as possible while drawing it. This saves in clean up time during the scanning process. I do that by starting my under-drawing with a very light (hard) pencil lead. 4H Mechanical Lead Holder. After I have established the structure, perspective and loose details of the drawing I go over the drawing tightening every thing up with a darker (softer) lead. H Lead.Scanning Tutorial for Clean Pencil drawings8 years ago in Personal More Like This
In the past I've used 2H, but ended up drawing harder to get a nice dark line and was pressing grooves into the page. This just makes it hard to ink. Anything darker than 2H will be likely to start smearing as you rub your hand over the drawing, resulting in a general gray "haze" over the whole drawing. TO AVOID SMEARING AS I DRAW, I place a piece of typing paper under my hand to cover portions of the underdrawing while working on it. Sometimes for pages I will even mask off, or tape pages together, leaving a window of just the panel Im working on open to dr

WE BELIEVE IN SCIENCE, LOGIC, REASON, AND EVIDENCE. THEY BELIEVE IN SUPERSTITION, DOGMA, DELUSIONS, AND FANTASY!
THEY ARE HOLDING US AND SOCIETY BACK! WE MUST MOCK AND RIDICULE THEM BACK TO THE 12th CENTURY WHERE THEIR OUTDATED BELIEFS BELONG!

Get an Art Education Without Expensive Art SchoolsAs much as I love my school, Academy of Art University, it's not necessary to attend a special art school in order to learn about art. Because of the internet, there are plenty of resources available for those who are self-motivated and eager to learn.Get an Art Education Without Expensive Art Schools2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'll start with some of the cheapest resources, ending with more expensive ones:
1. Blogs, podcasts and livestreams. Most professional artists keep blogs, and these things are free treasure troves of information. The best blogs don't only show off art, they also give tips about the business of art and introduce you to new resources. Try starting with Muddy Colors, a super informative blog run by several professional painters and sculptors: http://muddycolors.blogspot.com/ For podcasts, check out Chris Oatley's artcast: http://chrisoatley.com/category/podcasts/ Also check out the Awesome Horse Studios livestream: http://www.awesomehorsestudios.com/
2. Online tutorials and videos. I basically taught myself digital painting by combini

So here we go with my so called "main_brush_set".

A few brushes are from the web and some a selfmade or self tweaked.
Hope you have the same fun as I have using those brushes.
The brushes could be found on my Blog (http://malosart.blogspot.de/)

Summary: Thieves, mercenaries and villains, those are the words used to describe members of Flea's guild. They're the ones people turn to when they're desperate. Their Guild will be happy to complete most any job if the price is right. Mod note: Your character does not HAVE TO BE A THIEF. Being in Flea's guild just means they're likely to disregard the law and willing to do the dirty work an employer asks of them. It's simply called the Thieves Guild because it's Flea's specialty.

The Handy Resources JournalThis journal will be a collection of images, articles, and guides that I've found handy for drawing. I hope you find them useful, too.The Handy Resources Journal3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Please note that this journal is a work in progress. I will add to it when I can and edit where needed.
Jeff-H has created a series of excellent guides for human anatomy. I recommend studying them.
The best piece of artistic advice I've been given when proportioning a human figure is this: The thigh area (from hip [not waist] to knee) is approximately the same length as the torso (hip to shoulder). I see so many humans drawn too short or too tall without the torso to match.
See how short the legs are? http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs50/i/2009/327/a/8/Anime_body_tutorial_pg3_by_lene_x.jpg
Still don't believe me? Bring your knee up to your shoulder and try to keep your back as straight as possible. It should reach about to your collarbone.

Let me give a little bit of explanation here.
I've done a fair amount of professional comic work. It's almost entirely by accident, which I realize is kind of a blessed situation, but happily, the one constant in my life as a "professional" has been a weird character I happened upon many moons ago: Gogo.
Which is awesome. I cannot lie. Gogo and the whole "Bomango" canon (such as it is) has been my sushi perfection (see: Jiro) for many these past years. I don't want to change the world; I just want to make a delicious dish. Some might see this as an obsession, some might see it as a sickness, even, others might not even care (why are you reading this, then? The world is on FIRE! Put your passions to that!) But for my part, I have come to terms with the idea that I'm a cook whose entree has attracted a few aesthetic stomachs. There are more and better artists out there with haute cuisine, but this sushi needs development.
Here is my life: I work 40-60

Pretending this is a coloured drawing ready for toning. Make sure you image is set to grayscale mode and not RGB or CYMK. For each gray you wish to have a different sized tone, colour it on it's own layer. Naming the dot sizes you want will help you keep track. Also when you start you image make sure the DPI or Resolution is set to either 300, 600 or 1200.
Go to Filters>> Pixelate>> Colourhalftone and something like this will appear
Channel 1,2 and 3 are RBG. Red Blue Green. The numbers you place control how Red, Blue and Green line up with each other. So in theory. If you place channel 1,2 and 3 all with the same number, for this instance 0 and leave channel 4 at the angel of 45 you should then get something that appears as such.
For me working at an angel of 100 degrees for RGB works great but that is what channel
