Stars made of nightmares and skies made of fears
Hearts made of glass and a home built of tears
Cries made of silence and words made of knives
Dreams of the struggle to simply survive
Souls made of paper and minds made of flames
She is a piece of their loveliest game
No longer can she feel more than disgust
Even a rainbow does turn into dust…

Watch your oldest storybooks now slowly come to life
Giants rule the kingdoms with their shining silver knife
Princesses are locked in towers, skies do turn to grey
Knights in shining armor take their swords and turn away
Wondrous, sparkling forests die away in crystal rain
Hush the youngest children, for today they die in pain.
Watch your oldest storybooks become a haunting thought
Blood upon the pretty gowns and bodies left to rot
Hush the youngest children for the greatest of all crimes
Let them see that stories aren't just once upon a time...
I Will Not Become YouI Will Not Become You1 year ago in Free Verse More Like This
You are not real, just a character.
You are the work of humanity’s imagination.
Why then am I drawn to you this way?
I see myself in you.
I understand your pain.
I know what it is to feel alone,
To watch and feel outcast.
I feel your pain.
We are the same, you and I.
We are given similar circumstances,
And it is up to us to decide our fate.
You chose a path of devastation,
And I have yet to make my last choice.
I have seen what has become of you,
And it is not what I want.
In my life there are many blessings
If I chose to see them.
They will be what guide me through
The darkness I sometimes feel.
I continue on with the knowledge that one day,
One day I will not suffer in any way.
And I look forward to that day.
It is better that you are not real.
For all you have suffered, it is better you do not exist.
I will not become you.

Glitter fades to black and shining moonlight fades to dust
Every cruel man's wonderland is built of poor man's trust

Treasure death as platinum, as silver and as gold
Every cruel man's wonderland is built of poor man's gold...
Words on the WallThe sun melted into the glamorous skyWords on the Wall1 year ago in Free Verse More Like This
The moon stood there, hidden by sweet lullabies.
But mommy was crying, her day had been hard
The tears in her eyes twinkled just like the stars.
Her face wasn't happy like it should have been
And though she was saddened, she forcefully grinned.
I wanted to see Mommy smile through it all...
I painted a picture on her bedroom walls.
I told her to look, just to come in and see
But Mommy was angry... she wasn't happy.
She threw me down hard on the cold wooden floor
Then picked me up, slamming my head on the door.
She yelled and she screamed, then she hit me once more
She slapped me till I couldn't see anymore.
My heart then stopped beating, my laugh went unheard
Then Mommy got up without saying a word.
She looked at the walls splattered with my young blood
Then fell to the ground in her tears with a thud.
She looked at my face, then she looked all around
Then wrote on the walls with the first thing she found.
Then, after she finished, she wanted self h

Let her paint a word inside the shining silver skies.
Let her paint a mystery,
Let her paint a sin
Let her paint the things that lie in darkness deep within.

Make the brush a blade and let the canvas be her wrist...
In a Little Girl's MindThere sits the girl with the things in her eyesIn a Little Girl's Mind1 year ago in Free Verse More Like This
Monsters, destruction, and sweet butterflies
Hopscotch and daisies, surrounded by screams
Beautiful dresses now torn at the seams
Crayons and paintbrushes, villains and grins
Young, gladsome innocence, hatred and sins
Little red houses on roads left to fade
Gorgeous moonlight shining off of the blade
Blood pouring out as she cries her own name
Knowing she's forced to take each bit of blame
She could have stopped it and left it behind
All of these things in her troubled young mind
She could have saved them if she dared to try
Rather, though, she left herself there to die.
Now, others watch as she sits on the ground
Keeping their distance and letting her drown
In her own worries and things she won't tell
Waiting for her mind to kill her as well…
Fading Shades of GreyDearest reader, please think twice before you try to speakFading Shades of Grey2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Words can be like knives that cause the victim to grow weak
Thoughts can be as bullets shooting freely through the sky
Injuring the innocent with every spoken lie
Please forget my laughter, please forget my broken heart
Please do not remember how you tore my life apart
Leave me as a memory that slowly fades to grey
Spend your days as usual, and I shall fade away
Listen to my cry for help, although it is too late
I've become the monster that you struggled to create
Trying to be perfect was a wonderful mistake…
Now I mustn't worry about which chance I will take.
Please erase all memory of who I tried to be
Please do not remember how I tried to be set free
Please do not be saddened under any circumstance …
What's makes now so different from when you still had a chance?

Fairies and dragons and strong, worthy knights
One dose of glitter can shine through the night

Don't let the nightmares define what you'll be
Notice the beauty within every dream
Hush, little girl, there is no need to fight…
One dose of glitter to light up the night.

If you cry you'll lose

Memories of heartache cradle thoughts inside my head
Wounds continue bleeding on forgotten storybooks
Listen to your nightmares and the happiness they took
Can't you see the shadows with the knives inside their hands?
Watching you as they invade your secret wonderland
Silence won't protect you from the thoughts inside your mind
Nobody can save you from the torture on rewind
I can't see the people, but they're always seeing me
Anywhere and everywhere… they never let me be
Sometimes they stand quietly behind my bedroom door
Sometimes it's the microphones they hide under the floor
Sometimes it's the cameras in the ceilings or the wall
This time it's the photo frames… they'll kill me if they fall.
Everybody tells me that it's all inside my head
All I'll ever know is that I'm better if I'm dead
Maybe it's imagination gone completely wrong
If it's just my own creations, why are they so strong?
Maybe I can fight the tears and other things I dread

I wear glasses,
I play in the band,
I get good grades,
Like video games,
I'm weak and spineless
But so much smarter than people
I am.... an outcast.
I dress funny,
I act weird,
There's something wrong
Inside my head.
I'm too dumb
To understand people
I am.... an art freak.
I doodle over everything,
Dress a little different,
I am always colorful
And pretty happy,
I see the world
Differently than people
I am.... a gay guy.
I talk like a girl,
I just adore the color pink,
Oh, and I'm going to Hell.
I have no morals,
And instead I have AIDS
And should be kept from people
I am.... emo.
I dress in black,
Have sidesweep bangs,
And cut myself
Because life sucks.
I hate my life and
My parents and people
I am.... a prep.
I am mean and neast
I love drama
I am perfect and
Way better than people
I am.... a jock.

When's the last time you did something for the first time?
Must I pretend I'm someone else, for all time?
I don't understand how I can care this much, when you don't care at all.
If you can't handle me at my worst, you certainly can't handle me at my best.
All that matters is who you are and the choices you make; that is what makes you, you.

through rose colored lungs
look easy- vertebrae stretched
toward the moon.

i’d tell you I hated you
if you had a voice or a face,

from the spider fingers you use

you are not beautiful, like
all the other poets protest. you

when it catches in my throat.
before i go, i’ll write a million letters (a million

i’m choking on, how i am maddie and how that’s short
for a name i was never graceful enough for, how
i tell myself stories of lives i’ll never live so i

because when i’m really gone, that’s all that’ll be left
