The streets were empty. No one drove through the area that late at night, yet a single being was sitting under a bus shelter in the pouring rain. He had picked up an abandoned newspaper and began reading a peculiar excerpt that caught his eye with the light that emanated from the lone streetlamp:
OMINOUS UNKNOWN KILLER IS STILL AT LARGE
After weeks of unexplained murders, the ominous unknown killer is still on the rise. Several counties of police units have failed to find valuable evidence, but a young boy states that he survived one of the killer's attacks. Although he was hesitant at first, he willingly gave the authorities his testimony yesterday evening. He also requested that his name remained anonymous.
"I had a bad dream and woke up in the middle of the night," says the boy. "I saw that for some reason the window was open, even though I remember it being closed before I went to bed. I got up and pushed it shut, though I didn't think to lock it at the time. After all, noth
White FlagOnly when the train had left her childless did she begin to cry. Other bereft mothers flooded the station, their ghostly handkerchiefs waving in solemn surrender: if this is what war means, end it now. Please.White Flag10 months ago in Short Stories More Like This
The train was diminished by distance and blurred by needling tears. She struggled for air, and was glad her boy hadn't seen her this way; it was already hard enough for him to have all he knew stripped away.
Wiping her eyes, she caught a last glimpse of the train. She turned and brushed her way through the sea of helpless mothers unable to care for their children. He was her responsibility, and she wasn't capable of protecting him. Now — now he was gone.
All she could do was dare to hope the storm wouldn't last for long.
HER: Ready? Chin up, no tears. You’re a man now, thirteen and looking older. It’s going to be an adventure.
HIM: [Sniffling] A-an adventure?

I write fan-fiction of nursery rhymes and classics so well that they get published — by Hodder and Stoughton, no less. No self-published internet gimmickry for me, no sir.
Forget your little tumblr accounts filled with Hiddleston, Cumberbatch and Supernatural: my novels are full of appreciation to great authors, each and every one an homage to the Brontë sisters or the Grimm brothers, Dickens or Orwell, Humpty Dumpty or Mary Mary Quite Contrary. I know what has stood the test of centuries, and I have filled my work with them. Dragons and magic and black-and-white dystopias.
My fan-fiction is funny and original. I ask any of you to say the same. The best you can come up with is shipping Draco and Hermione in an alterna

By the time Pig was allowed to lie down, he was holding back groans by biting his lower lip, and his skin was wet with sweat. His stomach bulged out over his too-tight harem pants more than usual, and he was blushing bright red all over. On top of all of this, he was so confused that he was nearly in tears. Leor helped him lie down, and pulled the blanket over him with a smile.
"You did a good job." the prince said, his blue eyes looking slightly sympathetic, as if he knew the turmoil he had caused in his poor slaves mind. "Tomorrow will be our first whole day together."
Pig nodded, and took a small breath as his hands wandered down to his bloated stomach, feeling much safer being covered by a blanket. His belly, usually so soft, was almost hard to the touch. He could hear it grumbling from underneath the thick quilt. As Leor turned out the lights and moved back to his bed, the small slave whimpered slightly, and the blond turned.
"Are you alright?" he asked

For the next few weeks, Pig became more used to the world he had been bought into. He was given a trainer, though he had only met with her once so far. He had started adjusting more to Leor's schedule, which meant waking up later than he ever had in his entire life. The curtains would be closed at some point by Ethan, but Pig wouldn't even budge. This may have also had something to do with the fact that Leor was filling him up to the brim with heavy dinners, usually accompanied with several goblets of milk, just before bed every night. Pig became used to his bigger meals, and didn't feel quite as embarrassed when they were placed in front of him.
For instance the night a week after Leor had received his ill-fated letter, and a week before he was meant to leave, Pig had finished a huge lunch. He was just eating the last of an entire plate of scones and leaned back, face bright red. It still bothered him a little, but he didn't cry. From across the table, he sa

I tried not to listen.
I tried everything else I could think of.
I couldn't stop them...
I found that, when I did it, everything would get a little darker: my vision, my own voice, the colors of their blood. It would get especially bad at night, when Nepeta's high scream echoed off the walls and gave me no rest. I never seemed to sleep anymore. Tavros wasn't as warm as I last remembered him to be, and forcing his rigid arms around me only made my mind long for the days when he spoke in more than whispers and echoing breaths. Then, usually by the height of daylight, her wailing would start up...

Why am I here anyway? I've already confessed. I'm a doomed son of a gun. Don't I get any last whatchamacallits? Can't I have a coldie, before I go up there and have me neck snapped back? Any beer will do I drink 'em all, so long as it's not that light crap.

"It's a charm that means we'll always be friends!"
A small paper doll was held up into the air for the room to see. A small irritated sigh came from the side of the room and the doll's holder turned to the source, frowning.
"Midou kun, if you're going to be like that I won't let you join in!" Protested the young boy, holding the doll further from him.
"I don't want to be part of your childish games, Igarashi" came the sharp reply as the violet haired boy looked back into the book he was reading.
"Hey you two, stop fighting, we're all friends. Midou, don't be a stick in the mud, come on it's the last day, we should have fun!" Came a louder voice, booming from a tall, muscular boy playing with a volleyball in the corner, bouncing it off the wall for fun.
It was graduation day for the room of teens. It had been a wonderful day, the sky was blue and the sun was out and even late in the evening it was still quite warm out, although it had started to drizzle a bit.

“I can’t believe you did that!”
“It was an accident, Bec, and you know it.”
“I know, I know…don’t get upset. It was priceless! Sometimes I think the rigid cow needs a bit of tea spat in her face.”
They’d driven in silence for nearly twenty minutes until Bec couldn’t contain it any longer. She wished she’d been able to record what had happened, but she was glad that she was at least witness to it. After helping her mother get cleaned up, and listening to Tom stutter profuse apologies and excuses, Bec had carried her last two boxes to the car, placing them carefully on the backseat. Tom had hurried out behind her, red-faced and eager to slip into the driver’s seat and be gone. Now they both had reason to avoid her parents, at least for a little while. This made her inexplicably glad.
Tom muttered something and shifted in his seat, pulling over on the street next to his dad’s elegant, but rusting, iron ga

He accepted me, gills and all -
He knew that I needed my eccentricities to breathe
under the seascrapers of pollution
that hung over my head.
Or he said he did.
At the end of it all,
he tugged the gills open to expose me;
my innards trailed across the coral reef
as I swam trustingly forward, hoping for the best.
I tried to believe.
I believed him, gills and all -
But eventually, he left me, with holes in my sides
Where he had spooned out my intestines
To tether them to a boulder.
I tried to breathe.
He always told me I was deep.

Intro: The Europa has arrived on Earth with the other ships, and ATOM is trying to convince the ship's eccentric autopilot to leave the ship and meet new people now that he's not needed on the bridge.
"It won't take long." the ATOM insisted, kneeling down on the bridge floor so he could be eye-level with the autopilot. "I won't even have to shut you off." He added, smiling pleasantly.
The white-and-blue autopilot shook his head, straight hair shifting about his face. "No thank you." He said softly, drawing his knees closer to his chest. The AP warily eyed the ATOM from underneath the bridge panel where he was huddled, for reasons unknown to the other android. It was not unusual however; the autopilot did it all the time.
"I think it would be good for you to leave the bridge autopilot." Atom explained gently, shifting his g

Most of the bots down here that floated along were pure white or grey - the android's firey hair was a rare sight down here, standing out in the cold white place. The Go-4 walked slowly, hands folded behind his back, glancing lazily along the walls as he made his way to his destination. “It’s a boy!” Hanji excitedly declared and held the baby in front of me. I gave a weak smile in return, exhausted from the hours of labor. The child retained his father’s jet-black hair yet, kept large (e/c) eyes like mine.

The baby ceased its crying and curiously looked up at me.

Here he was, just a mere foot from climbing out the window and someone had caught him snooping around the warden tower. He didn't even want to turn around. He knew it was Penelope who caught him. He couldn't forget her voice after everything she had already done in his own time.
Yet, he knew if he did nothing, he would be caught for sure. And then his descendant would be left to take on Penelope, Toothpick, and possibly even that bird of metal all on his own. He needed to think of something fast. Just needed to keep the act up.
"My apologies...ma'am." He said, turning around to face Penelope. "I was assigned to guardin this here room and got curious as to what was inside."
Penelope walked up to him, eyeing him almost emotionlessly.

She trailed off, seeming to notice something out of place. Then she started searching frantically.
"My charts! My charts are missing!" She yelled.
