M.A.R.S. Invasion Page 4The cool heavy rain eventually revived Panther Girl, who stared at the storm too. A few moments after she had revived, the storm had worsened. Panther Girl had attempted to remember cases in which a storm had erupted, but most cases had involved either an Old One or Miskatonic University. The storm raged for almost two hours and immobilized everyone there. Meanwhile, Professor Harnosette grew impatient and restless. He ordered a small carrier [which had been stolen from a local transporter] and headed for the museum grounds along with two assistants.
As the storm finally abated, the carrier arrived and Harnosette and his lackeys alighted. He was astonished at the scene. The lawn outside the main doors of the museum had become a virtual swamp.
"'Odds bodkins!" as Shakespeare had it. The British Museum is in a swamp! Hardwick, hand over the stone at once!"
"I am trying, Professor!"
"Merton! Sedgwick! Go and help him. Hurry!"
"At once, Professor."

From the land of the pharaohs
There came a phantom
A figure dark as night
Tall and strong as a willow
He wore the robes and crown of the pharaohs
But his gaze was dark and blind
His voice was hushed like a whisper
And he spoke of a long gone era
When things other than beast or man
Walked and dwelt upon the earth
And in his hands he held a strange device
That glowed like a lantern
And crackled like a flame
Upon the road from the Valley
Where the pharaohs lay buried
In their silent and forgotten tombs
I walked in the shadows of evening
And this dark stranger chanced upon me
To me, he spoke those things in the shadows
And I marveled at what they implied
Then we went our ways in the twilight
And ne'er met again till this day

We all seek a needed rest
A breather away from work and stress
A moment or two to relax
And do whatsoever we want to do
This tom and his tabby
Left the city feeling gritty
To return to the place we knew
At peace in our nest
At ease in embrace
We lie back together and unwind
When our day is through
And enjoy what we want and need to do

When our health is the best

And gaze eye to eye
And as I sip my beverage
She looks at me and sighs
Two tender butterflies
Cocooned in a love that never dies

The rain fell in a torrent tonight
We lay in bed and listened
The voice of the rain was soft and low
It nearly lulled us to sleep
We turned to gaze at each other
She smiled and whispered to me
I reached over to embrace her
Safe and sound she was in my arms♥
The rain may fall for one hour
It may fall all night long
It may not stop until morning
We neither know nor care
There is always one another
~~~Let the rain pour down~~~♥
What would a story be?
If there was no one there to read it.
What would dreams be?
If there was no one there to conceive it.
What would a picture be?
What would a secret be?
If there was no one there to keep it.
What would love be?
What would a song be?
What would the truth be?
What would life be?
One evening in the corner shop
Calvin Woods sat reading a paper
A tall dark man in a black hood came in
Looking dark and dapper
Calvin mistook him for an African
The stranger said he came from Cairo
Are you visiting or residing, Calvin asked
The other said, “I have gold. I am a pharaoh."
Yet the longer stayed the latter,
The more Calvin grew madder
Until he ran away screaming
While the latter burst into laughter
During my last life
I was queen for not more
Than twenty years
I sat upon a throne of gold
In the court of Ur
Now, in this happy new life,
Beside the man I adore,
I am queen for ever and a day
Surrounded by the stronghold of his love
Enthroned upon the pure gold of his heart
And nobody dethrones me
On this same night
Two years ago
At the hour of half past nine
These eyes saw the passing
Of someone I loved well
She was the maid Celeste Auberginois
Long brown hair like a waterfall
Cascading from her head
Large brown eyes like a small child
But she was aged twenty five
At the moment they proclaimed her dead
I had left her some time before
Remorseful from my errors
Too late to apologize
Yet I would want her to know
Celeste, you are mine forever
I am sad always at what I did
And if we could be together once again
I would not err twice
I would never make you sad
Alas! I know that it can not be
But I feel that you are still with me
Nobody could take from you
And...Nobody could take from you
If you took from the glory of someone else
From Lovecraft’s “Strange High House in the Mist”
High up out of view
Half obscured by the mist
There stands a house of two floors
Empty and silent as a tomb
Surveyors came and went
Buyers ran away in awe
Nobody bought or rented the place
Until even today
In the town below
They mutter rumors of haunted halls
And strange shapes dancing in the mist
An unearthly ballet
To the music of the spheres
My hair is white
From the grief
That you gave me, you never
My eyes are red
Because I pass each night
Like a living dead
But I must live in the light
That you shine so brightly
Around my head
And it must be said
That you make me sad
I want to cry
I may find true peace
When I die
"Oh death, when it comes for me
I may or may not resist.
That opening in the ground
To enter, I need assist.
Will they bury or will they burn
Or simply float me in my longship?
I cannot claim to know these things;
I simply remain here in the dark.
Sometimes the subject makes me cringe --
But eventually I shall disembark!"
He will warn you to hold it tight
If he gives you a valuable gem
More vital than crystal or jewellery
And they warned me not to break it
It is the heart of my love, Puabi
The last thing i saw
A cluster of clouds, like cotton puffs
Then everything seemed to plunge
Everything was darkness, then
When I could see, I saw leaves
I revived in a tree
The chute would not open
I screamed and yelled as I fell
But I stopped my screams
And my adventurous daydreams
When at last I broke
Lying upon my bed of cotton
The one I loved gone, but not forgotten
Still my heart remembers and adores
I speak her name time and again
I try to rest and forget my pain
But that familiar voice cries "Never more!"
High upon my doorstep, sitting
Still as that bust of Pallas, never flitting
The raven watches and waits for me to die
It follows my hand as i attempt to write
It follows me to my bed in the night
I cannot ignore it, though I try
My heart and mind are consumed by worry
Still I hear that wnged fury
It remains in my chambers 7 X 24
"Get you gone, you winged devil!
No longer fill my life with your evil!
Leave me alone with her who I adore!"
But the raven still is sitting, still is sitting
Upon that bust of Pallas on my chamber door
Still that awful voice is creaking
Still that awful voice is shrieking
Those two words I have heard so oft before:
Ralph Connors was a regular customer of his cafe for more than a year. One evening he saw a new customer, a young woman. He saw her in the far corner of his favorite cafe, sitting alone at a table and sipping a cup of Earl Gray tea. She stopped for a second, perchance feeling his gaze, and smiled a shy careful smile. He noticed but avoided responding. He felt something feline about her. He walked over to the news rack and selected a magazine. Then he returned to his table. A moment later, when he arrived, he found her seated there. She gazed at him with cool green eyes and asked
"Were you looking at me a moment back?"
"Well, I tried not to. It's not really polite."
"Oh, that's quite all right. But you must know about me. I'm attracted to men like you. I have a kind of hunger for men like you," she replied.
"Yes exactly."She suddenly pounced upon him like a starved jungle cat and gnawed at his shoulder. He screamed.
