Dusk Rises- Chapter 13
The city was buzzing with talk of what had become known as 'the slums incident.' Twilight and Archangel were walking through the market, dressed in black hooded jumpers. The white hood and cloak that was used to be their disguise was now the only thing giving away their identity. Since they were taking some time off to recover, and owing to the fact that the spring festival had started and the city was in a state of peace, there wasn't much need for them to intervene in anything. Archangel was still walking with a limp, the injury he sustained to his hind leg healing slower than normal because he couldn't find the time to rest it. Since he and David were the least injured members of the team, they had taken it upon themselves to not only take care of the others, but to also train the four new recruits that had joined them, three ponies and one griffin. The one that Twilight was most surprised to see was a white Earth pony with green eyes and a silvery mane and tail. Not long before the

Twilight awoke long before the others, and decided to take a walk in the morning air. Tightening the straps that held her cloak in place, so as to keep herself warm in the winter air. She was having trouble adjusting to the climate of New Grifburg, where the snow only begun to fall halfway through the season. But even then, it was still just as cold. Sticking to the rooftops so as not to be noticed, Twilight headed toward the docks and watched the ships come into the harbour. She lowered her hood and sat on the edge of a building, allowing her mind to wander back to Equestria, and to her friends. A smile spread over her lips as she thought of Ponyville and all of the good times that seemed so far away to her now. Her cheeks turned red as she remembered what had happened just before Princess Celestia teleported her to New Grifburg. Her friend, Pinkie Pie, had kissed her, and much to Twilight's utter surprise, she had enjoyed it. Twilight had never thought of romance before, and up until

Twenty-six days since the coronation of Princess Twilight Sparkle.
“Sorry, Applejack!” the sleepy princess gasped as her once drooping eyelids snapped open.
“Much better,” Twilight giggled. “So you’re absolutely sure that you have enough cider left over for the gala?”
“Positive, we stored a few extra last year. Normally we finish off the last barrel the week before Winter Wrap-Up, but we weren’t able to polish off all of it this year. We’ve still got a few sittin in the cellar, ‘n’ it’s a might bit warmer down there now than it’s supposed to be when yer storing cider,” Applejack chuckled. “Honestly, I would’ve dumped them out, but the thought of servin’ it to some unexpectin’ nobles is too funny. I wonder if they’ll still act all proper and stuck-up when they’re so sloshed that they can

Twilight was breathing heavily as she chased the Griffin Prince Alistair through the narrow back streets of the Griffin capitol city of New Grifburg. Her white and red hood and cloak flapped in the wind and Twilight could just see the barest glint of the knife embedded in Alistair's wing joint, preventing him from taking off and escaping her. She had been sent by Princess Celestia to assassinate the prince, and at first, she believed it was only to destabilise their society with the absence of the Griffin emperor Gregor, but after spending some time amongst the city's denizens, she came to the conclusion that her mission was in fact to save them all from the tyranny of the prince's regime. Alistair changed direction abruptly, heading up some stairs that were attached to the side of a building. Twilight followed, never letting him out of her sight for more than a second. He dived over the railing, landing on a gravel covered rooftop. Twilight didn't hesitate, leaping over the side. Her

Applejack's eyes were watering as the air bit at her skin, becoming almost razor sharp as she ran faster than the speed of sound. Her vision was hazed, the landscape of Equestria and all of its varied colours melding into a beautiful cacophony of light and colour. Applejack knew that it was only a mixture of luck and reflexes that was keeping her from colliding with anything along the road and becoming just an orange stain on the ground. As she approached Maneflow Springs, she took as deep a breath as she could and shot through the small town, maneuvering herself so that she had more space by running along the docks. Behind her, light, random objects were being dragged along in her wake, along with the occasional pony. Applejack ignored it all, focussing on getting herself to Rainbow's side and rescuing her friends from the assault of diamond dogs. Breaking clear of the town's borders, Applejack slowed down just enough so that all of the objects that she had inadvertently collected wer

Twilight wiped the blood and gore from her face, leaving a smear of red over her fur. A lump of bile had become stuck in her throat and it took all of her will power to keep it down. Beside her, Jean was shaking with shock. Ignatius let out a high pitched cackle as he danced around the ponies. The decapitated corpses of the rest of the griffin council continued to bleed out onto the stone floor as the chaotic scene played out in the dungeon.
“W-why?” Twilight asked quietly, utterly appalled at what she was witnessing. Ignatius stopped his mad dance and made his way up to her, caressing her face with his hand. She recoiled, his touch feeling like the dirtiest thing she had ever come across. A scowl came over the griffin’s face, and with one graceful swing of his hand, he slapped Twilight across the face, sending her barrelling into Jean, who fell over as though she were a statue.
“Come on Jean, get up! You said yourself, you’re no stranger to dead bodies,

Well, I did what Tia said, 'Start a journal of your thoughts and feelings now that you are back.' I suppose she is right, it might help me to collect myself, focus on things, not to mention the fact that it will be good to have a record of my progress. I mean, I do have over a thousand years of Equestrian history to catch up on.
I just wish the spell that Tia gave me wouldn't change what I'm saying into so called 'Modern Equestrian.' Lazy and stupid if you ask me.
Well I suppose I should start by saying hello, or should I? I'm the only one that's meant to read this aren't I? I shouldn't have to say that my name is Luna and I am Princess of Equestria, what point does that serve other than to stroke my ego and create vanity within my heart. But it is strange to be sitting here in the dark with nothing but the glow of the magic and a single candle to help me see what I'm doing.
I like the dark, it is my element after all, but there is something about it now that feels… off. I

Fluttershy dangled from the ceiling beam with the rope tied in a noose around her neck. Eyes and mouth closed as her body gently swayed back and forth from a light chilling breezing through the open door. There was much shock and awe in the atmosphere as Twilight and Spike had their eyes widened for a mere 10 seconds before one of them snapped into action.
"Oh no, oh no! Fluttershy please no," Twilight's horn lit up as she casted a levitation spell to gently lift the lifeless pony and remove the noose from around her neck. She was careful enough to be sure that her head was as immobile as possible.
"Spike, hand me that couch pillow over there." She said urgently, gently setting the pegasus down on the floor with her friend's head on her hooves. Spike just stood there, unable to move. He was too scared to move.
"Spike!" Twilight yelled.
The purple dragon then began to tear up. Snapping out of his trance, he ran over to the cou

He couldn't really see much in the haze of smoke, and the typical dream impairments (such as being half blind), but he could see enough to know his body was moving. He could also tell that behind the choking smoke, it was really daylight despite the darkness. Birds chirped as the fire continued to rage.
He didn't see his own feet and knew they weren't the ones moving. As he gazed down with wide eyes he saw a tiny, kitten paw; his own, golden and furry. He had an eagle chick's talon and knew immediately that he was a child again. Wide, infant eyes stared down at a much larger paw. It was matted with dirt and dried flecks of blood, but Discord could still tell it was white with gorgeous patterns. A snow leopard's paw.
He stared up and realized that some creature had him by the scruff of the neck and

Twilight woke up to the sunlight streaming through her window. She felt... better. Not well, yet; images of what she learned in Canterlot still spilled through her mind and nearly made her shudder, but certainly better than she'd felt yesterday. Spike was still asleep, curled against her, and she spent a long moment seriously considering just going back to sleep, warm and secure and comfortable. Her conscience wouldn't let her, though. There was just too much to do today.
"Hey sleepyhead," she said, gently shaking the dragon. "Don't you have some farm chores to do?"
Spike started awake, saw the angle of the sunbeams and realized that he was late. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to fall asleep in your bed." he said, getting up hurriedly.
"Don't apologize," she said gently. "It was nice. I can't remember the last time you played pillow for me. Guess you're somepony else's pillow now, huh?" Twilight winked, and Spike blushed.
"It's not... quite the same."

I held in a growl watching Fluttershy panic in fear as she tried another loop. That pegasus is such a scaredy pony. It had been just about the same thing for the past hour or so. I'd demonstrate the trick Fluttershy would try, she'd panic, fall down, and whimper how sorry she was for failing. She's a pony that you can't seem to stay mad at, but she could be really aggravating at times, though.
Seriously though, I shouldn't be complaining. I was the one that had taken a day off weather duty to spend some time with Fluttershy and teach her a trick or two. But all she seemed to learn so far was a half loop, and how to fall without breaking anything.
Fluttershy sat on the ground, shaking her mane to cover her face. She was obviously embarrassed.
"Its okay, Fluttershy. You put in a great effort. It just takes practice." I had to hold back a choke at grea

He was following Luna down the marble hallways of the Canterlot palace, towards a large wooden door. The door magically opened as the Queen approached, leading them both outside. The air was cool and there were many stars tonight, all surrounding a crescent moon. The door had led them to the balcony of the castle's tallest tower, which Luna often used for private flights out of the city.
"I appreciate you concern Captain, but this is a personal matter I must attend to myself. I require nor desire anypony following me right now." She replied.
Shining stopped as the Queen continued forwards, spreading her wings and ready to take off. She stopped however when her captain spoke once more.
"Does this have something to do with my sister?"
She furled her wings again and turned to face him, her expression cold.
"And what makes you think that Captain?" She asked.
Shining's eyes narrowed somewhat, though not

And yet, at the same time, a harsh impression of absolute nothingness. Worlds flew by in a blur, unseen and unfocused. The sun remained high in the sky; the moon circling around the horizon sluggishly. Equestria was gone and in its place was blackness. Sometimes shapes could be seen; some bright, some dull.
A feverish pace of everything and nothing, both occurring at the same time. It was dizzying. It was disorienting.
There was the odd sensation of something touching. Prodding and lifting. Too fleeting to notice or analyze. Whipping wind and stale air. Harsh silence and dissonant cacophony. Opposites mixed and clashed, with everything going too fast to notice.
It was a mess, like a fever dream.
Luna couldn't scream. She couldn't run. She couldn't even breathe. It hurt her head as everything happened around her, ignoring her. She felt lost in the darkness, with only fleeting glimpses of a bright, white light to break up the confus

Dash and Applejack's ability to keep the door closed had been waning. Even the two strongest mares from Ponyville were at a disadvantage against three stallions, one of whom was a royal guard.
The two had communicated through facial expressions alone. They had decided that eventually the ponies on the other side were going to wrench open the door and that what they were doing was pointless. They both made a silent decision to suddenly step back away from the door. Their synchronicity was impeccable.
The door fell inward, just barely avoiding Applejack and propelling the surprised ponies on the other side stumbling forward. The two wasted no time in tackling the group and pushing them back into the house's main room. It was a jumbled mess of hooves and shouting, but it ended with the five ponies sprawled on the floor.
Applejack was the first to get to her hooves. She quickly moved back to the door and pulled it shut. During this time, the o

“Come on, Twilight! All you’d have to do is talk to Spitfire, it’d take five seconds,” Rainbow whined, hovering in the center of Twilight’s office. “It’s not like she’d say no; you’re the princess!”
“It’s not that I can’t do it, it’s that I won’t,” Twilight grumbled.
“Well why not?”
“Because, Dash, if I force Spitfire to make you a Wonderbolt, you’ll be happy for a little while, then you’ll start to wonder if you ever would’ve made it on your own,” Twilight explained for what seemed like the hundredth time. “Then you’ll get depressed and you’ll spend the rest of your life doubting yourself. Eventually you’d probably start to hate me for not talking you out of it. You’ll just have to finish the Academy like everypony else.”
Uncharted: Applejack's journey- Chapter 2Applejack held her head down as she cowered behind the stone altar, the wall in front of her being peppered with small explosions of dust that accompanied the loud bangs that were reminiscent of Pinkie's party cannon. Elena was crouched next to her, a black piece of L-shaped metal in her hands. On the other side of the altar, Applejack could hear screaming and crying out, along with the occasional angry or happy remark from Nathan or Sully. "Ah want to go home," she whispered to herself. After some time, the noises stopped, all of them, even the voices of Nathan and Sully. Elena's hand was rested on her shoulder again, and this time, Applejack found the courage to l

Derpy closed her eyes against the intense pain as the Doctor held her hoof, offering encouragement. The midwife sat at her lower end, informing her of her progress and continually telling her to push. Princess Luna stood in the doorway, engrossed by the proceedings. Derpy screamed and pushed as she felt the foal slowly moving. She breathed hard and fast, pushing methodically as inch by inch a new life was being brought into the world.
"Come on Derpy, just one more." Said the midwife too calmly for Derpy's liking.
"I can't!" She screamed, her body exhausted, pain blinding her.
"Come on Derpy, I believe in you, you can do this." Said the Doctor, his voice sympathetic but tense. She looked at him, and the smile on his face, before screaming again, pushing one last time with all of the energy she could muster. Then she heard it; loud, healthy crying, signifying her foal was born.
"Congratulations Derpy, it's a beautiful, little unicorn filly." The midwife said happily, wrapping the foal up

The recent attack brought about by the unexpected and hitherto unknown changelings and their Queen, Chrysalis, had left much of the city damaged. By some miracle there had been no casualties, only a few injuries here and there. Of course it made sense. The changelings were, after all, using the ponies as a food source. It made no sense that they'd want them harmed.
Ponies all about the capital were grateful that the attack had left only structural damage. Damage which was easily rectified. But for one lone unicorns, the damage was far deeper.

With every fading heartbeat, the prey let a little more of red fluid flow from the open wound in their neck. A scowl crossed her lips at the thought of the fluid that sustained her being wasted. With a growl, she started walking back to her nest, the first warm slivers of sunlight beginning to break over the surrounding hills. She could feel herself getting weaker, the sunlight draining away the little strength she got from her feed. "Which one is it Sugarcube?" inquired Applejack looking through the window of the hospital's nursery.
Flim, who stood surround by the five mares, opened his mouth to reply but was instead cut short.
"Oh! Oh! I love guessing games!" Pinkie Pie chirped, her blue eyes scanning the room. "It is that little filly?" A small white unicorn filly stretched and yawned in her crib, red hair peaking out from beneath the blanket pink blanket.
"No," answered Flim grinning like a fool.
"Oh, well it is that one then?" Pinkie enthused, pointing out a blue unicorn colt with a white and blue mane.
"No," Flim said again.
"Okay, I got it for sure this time!" she said and looked thoughtfully at the foals before her.
After a minute of this Rainbow snapped, "Oh Flim would you just tell us already?!"

Rarity poked her head outside, the warm sun felt good on her face. She took a deep breath; the fresh air filled her lungs. She slowly began to put her hoof closer to the boundary between the tent that had become her sanctuary and the outside world. As it got closer, her heart started to race and her breathing became more rapid. She quickly pulled the hoof back; as though she was scared that something would be attack it. Rarity walked back to her workstation, deciding to bury herself in her work instead. The sounds of laughter and battle mixed together outside were to Rarity muffled, almost as if she was hearing them from underwater. She looked around at the others in the new research tent. They were all mares, Rarity having dismissed all of the Stallions on her team, which had the unfortunate side effect of diminishing the research team from fifty strong to only fifteen, including herself. One of the unicorns came up to her, holding out a piece of paper. Rarity shivered as her sense of
