Tutorials and techniques 2It's time to refresh the tutorial journal! Added some new ones and removed those which, after some time, I found a bit misleading.Tutorials and techniques 21 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Below you'll find a list of tutorials I personally think of as the best on dA. If I have any problems with painting something I usually take a look at one of those.
Is there anything you're having troubles with? Need help looking for a good tutorial? Or maybe you'd like to see a video walk-through of me painting something?
I'm open for suggestions for what kind of tutorial/walk-through you'd like to see from me. If you're interested in anything, post your suggestions in the comments!

Paint Tool SAI and TRANSPARENT .PNGVarious Paint Tool SAI users might have noticed it, me included, and it always bugged me a bit.Paint Tool SAI and TRANSPARENT .PNG3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Apparently, SAI doesn't support .PNG transparency. Meaning, when you go and try to save an image supposed to have transparent areas, the picture still gets a white background.
To fix this, I and possibly other people used to save the project as .psd and load it in Photoshop or similar programs to save the file with the wanted transparent area.
Well, a quick search made me figure out that it instead DOES allow it, so I was wondering how.
After some research I figured out I was using version 1.0, which is extremely old and outdated, and it doesn't even feature transparency.
Therefore, version 1.1.0 is what allows png to have transparent area.
For some reason it doesn't have ink pen, which the old 1.0 had, but that's not a big deal since most of SAI tools are just the same brush with different settings.
So... I upgraded to version 1.1.0 and added ink pen plus custom br

No Point?Sometimes I get a rather blunt and sneering criticism that there is no point in doing realistic paintings when one can always take a photograph. No Point?1 year ago in Personal More Like This
And then I reply, 'well, then what's the point in having sex when one can always masturbate?'

How to Suggest a Daily Deviation ( DD )Although there are other news articles on this subject, it is still unclear to a lot of people how and what to suggest for a DD.How to Suggest a Daily Deviation ( DD )5 years ago in Art Features More Like This
i will guide you through the process step-by-step
What kind of images should i suggest?
no absolute answer here, but you should suggest something that stands out from the crowd. Something with either an unique concept, quality or beauty.
Browsing the DD section for a while could give you an idea, though art and taste is subjective.
It is ok to suggest a friends piece, but don`t do it just because its a friend, do it if the piece is excellent.
Who am i gonna suggest it to and what should i write?
http://help.deviantart.com/18/ has the list of all the gallery directors and what category they are "attached" to, all you need to do is check the category the image is in, and take it from there.
Under the image you want to suggest is a thumb code ( under page views )
Lets say you want to suggest for a daily deviation, you copy the thumb co
COSPLAY MAKEUP TUTORIAL!Hi guys!! Thank you as always to all watchers and everyone who faves and comments - I'm so sorry I don't have much time these days to reply to everything, but I definitely do read and appreciate them all!COSPLAY MAKEUP TUTORIAL!9 months ago in Personal More Like This
I've been asked so many times I've lost count to put together a makeup tutorial on how I do my cos makeup - and I finally did it!
I hope this is a little helpful, although some disclaimers - I have Caucasian features, so my makeup will be very different to someone with a different face shape. I use a lot of eyemakeup, much more than a lot of people, just because I do lol. My eyes a pretty big naturally, so I line them right up the edge, as opposed to widening the eye by drawing further out. A few things like that to bear in mind ^_^ That said, hope you enjoy! *chu*
Any questions please feel free to ask!
How To Find Freelance Illustration Work. Part TwoIn Part One of this article I talked about the „passive" way to find freelance work: making it easy for potential clients to find you. Here, I'll talk about the „active" way – how you can seek out freelance work from your own initiative. Only a small number well-known illustrators don't need to promote themselves actively. I assume that you already have a solid portfolio and some experience – but no one knows it yet. You're in for a lot of research and marketing. How To Find Freelance Illustration Work. Win $40 or 3,200 pointsEdit 1: (New character added (Rbui).)Win $40 or 3,200 points3 months ago in Personal More Like This
So I did this contest last year and it was so successful that I just had to do it again. Though I have bumped the winning prize up a bit to $40 this time or 3,200 . and I understand that people usually have time frame issues, so that is why this contest will not end until May 29th.
What you have to do
Just like last year all you simply need to draw one or more of my OCs and submit it here on DA, unless breaks DA rules, then you must submit it somewhere else and send me the link or just send me the file via note. I will be making a little list below here with a reference image and a description of each of the characters below.
- To enter this contest you must write a journal advertising it and then send me the link. This way word can spread about my contest and gain more participa
