CT WIPs - Here They Come Just In TimeA couple of things: GIMP lags on me now which makes it a pain on me and my laptop to record process videos. And since tumblr has a following size that's a third of my dA, a lot of people may be missing my WIP shots. So I hope it won't bother anyone that I make and update journals that show my process. I hope you'll find them interesting and inspiring. And also, I hope people will stop asking me what program I work in lol on top of the fact that it's listed in my interests under Tools of the Trade, I've also had a FAQ made so please check those before asking questions. Further info about my process will be located under each WIP shot!CT WIPs - Here They Come Just In Time1 year ago in Personal More Like This

ThinkingMost of the times, writing is the only way where I can express how i really feel. I can still remember when i anonymously write something on my secret blog, years ago and I know no one reads it. The feelings that I get after typing and saying the things i feel were so grand, soothing and calm. It's been a while since i did something like that.Thinking2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Please take note that this journal is not to create a drama. I just want to test if it will still work, and what will be the effect if i know that someone or at least a few will be reading this right after i click the submit button.
Im trying my best to put my best foot forward in every thing that I do, but most of the times, I think that none of things that im trying to do are working. It's really sad to see myself struggling on so many things in life. about my career, about the persons around me, about my life and most especially, my very own self.

How to read the news.Any time I pass comment on world events, especially if that comment is negative toward the actions of a foreign country, I get the same replies: “Your media is lying to you”, “It’s all propaganda”, etc.How to read the news.2 months ago in Personal More Like This
I promise the people that said all that: I’m just as paranoid and untrusting of the world as you guys, which is why I question everything before opening my mouth.
There is constant talk of conspiracy and media manipulation, and I believe that it does occur, but it is not as long lasting as it was prior to the dawn of the digital age. In the past, information could be controlled very easily, but now, with everyone who owns a phone being a potential source of news, the truth will surface much faster. Lies are now exposed within hours, not decades.
Within the comments of a recent deviation I made mention of how I assess information, but it probably go lost so I shall repeat it here: I don’t just look at one news source, I study three. The BBC, RT a

2D + 3D CommissionsHello, you arrived at my Commisions page2D + 3D Commissions3 years ago in Personal More Like This
If you are interested in getting a CGI image created for you, please continue to the section you are interested in. There are three sections:
2D section covers all kind of colored, shaded images, preferably drawn with outlines.
3D works is about polygonal objects of all kinds, textured and with some post-processing for nice looks.
Vector images refer to things drawn with hard lines and occasional shading, such as blueprints and ink-like drawings.
I do all kinds of art and I'm opened to different styles (vector drawings of a Star Wars ship, 3D render of a Stargate vehicle, blueprint for a Dune tank and of course every kind of original universe objects and scenes) so don't be afraid to ask for anything that you can think of.
You can also check examples of my commisioned work and private gallery works on the bottom of this entry.
I am looking forward to working with you and seeing a happy finish
Please note that preferably I acc
7 Things I've learned as a comic book artistThis is an excerpt from my blog at www.willterrell.com from July 13, 2012:7 Things I've learned as a comic book artist2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The other day I wrote about this being my 15th anniversary as a comic book artist and posted THESE pages from my very first comic book for San Diego Comic Con in 1997. I wanted to follow that up by taking the opportunity to talk about a few things I've learned over the years as a comic book artist. Hopefully what I've learned can be of value to you. Here is a list of 7 things I've learned in my time as an artist…
1. MISTAKES ARE WHAT EXPERIENCE LOOKS LIKE
I don't know where I heard it first, but I knew from the very beginning that you have to do a lot of bad work in order to get to the good stuff. So I made the decision early on to make my mistakes as fast as possible in order to get to the other side of experience. What I didn't know at the time, was that you can make all sorts of mistakes that you don't even know are possible. Trusting the wrong people, jumping before you look, focusing on the wrong goal

In 2014, DeviantArt turned 14 years old. Fourteen years is a long time, some of you reading this may be younger than that. I've gathered some historical information with the help of Moonbeam13 and some members of the Community Relations team to help enlighten those of you who have joined in recent years and missed out on a chunk of DeviantArt's life.
I hope you enjoy taking a step back in time!
Please note: it is extremely difficult to track down some events in DeviantArt's history (in particular, the first few years) and that some dates are only approximate.

EMPOWERED cosplay, now with painted-on latex! At the Toronto Comic Arts Festival last weekend, ace photographer (and karaoke-er*) Paul Hillier was kind enough to drop off some prints of a seriously badass Empowered cosplay shoot he had arranged. He took the concept of Emp cosplay to a whole 'nother level, via an exciting new frontier in costuming: painted-on latex! Not only is this arguably the ideal cosplay medium to approximate Emp's unearthly supersuit, it's definitely the best medium to depict the tearing of the suit's membrane (as seen in a photo emulating an Empowered cover, complete with logo).EMPOWERED cosplay, now with painted-on latex!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Without further ado, I draw your attention here: http://www.paulhillier.com/?p=811

2013 has been a very busy year for me because of work and freelance (mobile app development) --- causing me to hibernate in photography for more than seven (7) months.
Aside from work, my favourite lens (Tokina UWA) got himself some fungus and my EOS 1000D got injured (like hot-shoe problem and sensor dust) --- as a result, I end up rejecting every invitation because I don't have any gear to use on --- and it took me awhile to send it to a server centre because of tight schedule
On a brighter side, I think this incident is nice because I still have some awful backlogs to catch-up with from 2012.
PICKING A NEW CAMERA
SO FAST FORWARD: Finally I got myself an editing device (a Macbook Pro for obvious reasons) and a new camera (Fuji X100S) because of my freelance.
Lots of my friends are asking me :
"Why pick a non-interchangeable camera…?"
"Why pick X100S..?"
Just a little update.Hi friends, fans and fellow artists,Just a little update.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
So how has life treated you all? For me it's been pretty good.
Right now I'm working and living in London, doing daily concept art for a new big sci-fi flick done
at the Warner Bros Studio here (where they shot the Harry Potter films).
It's a lot of fun and I cant wait to share all my designs (however that will still take a long time before I'm allowed to)
On the side I'm doing other fun stuff like Magic The Gathering cards and making video lessons
for the community D:
Anyway, it's going to be a little more quiet around here, but fear not! I am still spending
free time doing paintings. However because of my busy schedule those are mostly speedpaints.
I don't share speedpaints here on dA, but I do share a lot of that and more on my Facebook.
So feel free to follow me on Facebook! >>> http://www.facebook.com/jonas.dero

I'm really grateful for this opportunity, and I'll do my best to make all of our fans proud.
Wish me luck!
Well I'm back home in Massachusetts now after a long day of travel. Bruce and I got to meet with 2 people from CN, they were both really awesome and very nice, even the room we met in was chic and cool, definitely not the formal boardroom setting I was expecting.
Honestly I'm not sure if I did a good job presenting the series or not. I think they were intrigued by the action/comedy blend of the series, and liked the school setting as it's relatable to viewers. They definitely seemed interested in the fact that this series has more female fans than male fans, and that we've achieved this level of succ

Pretty cool, right?
A small talk about pricing your artYou're creating art. You have the passion, you have the skills. Why not make some money out of it then? It's a good idea, right? A lot of people live from creating art, and even more earn some money on the side by taking commissions. You should give it a shot!A small talk about pricing your art1 year ago in Personal More Like This
So... How much money is your art worth?
It's a hard question to answer for those who are just starting their adventure with selling and creating art for money. Is its worth equal to the price of the materials you used? Is it equal to the value of the time you've spent on creating it? What about the emotional value you put into it? Should your education influence your prices?
No matter if art is your job, hobby or a pastime, you should never undervalue it. In this article I will try to give some tips as to how assess the value of your artwork and touch the problem of too low prices.
We're in it for the money.
Let's be honest - if you're reading this then you probably want
Manga/Anime Tutorial Hub: Paint Tool SaiSo what's this all about? A while back I decided that it would be best to create a place where tutorials that are vital to Manga/Anime artists to have a home, an easy place to reach if they felt that they ever needed it. One by one articles featuring tutorials based off of specific trades and mediums will be posted, and in the end a master article that'll unite them all together. The hope is to have as much as possible in one easy to reach place. This time around its Paint Tool Sai's turn.Manga/Anime Tutorial Hub: Paint Tool Sai3 years ago in Personal More Like This

How much skin do you need for an erotic picture?"None", some say. I've read this once in a magazine article about porn. They argued showing genitals isn't erotic at all. "A truly erotic picture doesn't show anything and leaves everything to your imagination", it went on. As a good example they gave the love scene in the car from the movie Titanic. How much skin do you need for an erotic picture?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
For those of you who haven't seen the movie here's how much naked skin you see in this scene:
It's nothing but a hand against a foggy glass, but in the context of the movie it expresses all the passion there is. This is a very beautiful scene, there is no question about it. Here's the question I asked myself: Is everyone who wants to see more than a hand on foggy glass really a pervert? That was exactly what the article was suggesting. But isn't it a little steep? And: can you expect from a movie like Titanic the ultimate answer?
Let's pretend for a moment you can. I don't know if the guys from the magazine article saw the whole movie but there is actually another interesting scene where R
