Something a little different... Portrait study for a painting. An idea I've been wanting to play around with for a while… washing a figure out with light, emerging from the brightness but leaving detail lost in the white. Its tough having such gorgeous friends to help you out with your ideas! (the very beautiful and very talented ) Pencil on paper.
My entry for this weeks Trinquette Challenge, organised by the great Alberto Ruiz. Missed the deadline, but thought I'd better post it here as a reminder that space can be a lot more dangerous than you realise. And requires a far less bulky dress code than previously thought.
Pencil sketch, painted in photoshop. No astronauts were harmed during the making of this picture.
EDIT: Just thought I'd better explain WHAT the Trinquette challenge is:
the moderator posts a photo which all entrants use as the inspiration/pose for their illustration. For example: The amazing Serge Biraults entry : [link] The Talented Ben Tan's entry: [link] (obviously he likes retro space stuff too )
Back in 2004 I was working on a comic I was calling 'Robyn Hood and her Mary Mehn'. Never got very far with the project before I stopped…. and now that Zenscope has launched a "Robyn Hood' comic of their own, thats where I will leave it . So here's me dragging out my character lineup art one final time, finishing off the colours and posting it as a farewell to the whole thing.
