All you could see was a snow white glove
jutting up from the filth I let them bury me in,
digits half curled
wrist arced and carpels tangled
as if I had once strained
to reach up for something more,
but had long since given up...
Your fingertips were my Autumn
as I walked backwards through Winter-
A sleepwalking shadow
spurred on only by sound of a melodic voice
and the faint whispers
of a promise
that I was worth more than ash and dust;
It's been two years since you first coaxed me up from the mire.
I opened my eyes into a hurricane,
reached out to grasp at the hem of your dress
only to come up short
when I found
I was still chest-deep in the mud;
You slipped away between the raindrops,
Leaving me with one last promise:
You can do this."
I put my hands to the ground,
pushed with everything I was-
Pushed till my ribs cracked,
my tendons tore,
till my arms snapped like rotten limbs
and I bled out from my eyes.
But I pushed.

The hot afternoon sun bakes the stone roads black,
light tinged orange.
The man with the gaping eye,
his empty socket a crinkled web of scars.
A blank face looks upon me,
His once strong jaw,
now loose and misshapen from days he wishes he could forget.
He still knows their names,
they have long forgotten his.
His leathery fingers,
gnarled and twisted,
appear like the roots of an ancient oak tree.
Knuckles many times larger than they should be,
are cracked and worn,
weathered by both sun and time.
His calloused feet,
tucked and curled beneath him,
bear the scars and broken bones of times when he forgot,
crushed under foot and hoof.
He has long lost count,
it now hurts too much for him to walk.
His only eye,
it tells the story of his past,
whispering tales about the years of joy he used to have,
days so long gone they became legends to him,
legends he no longer believes in.

I was a bundle of nerves, as I always was when it came to you, picking at grass and trying to pretend that the fact you were late was totally cool. Instinct told me differently and I knew as soon as you graced me with your presence that things had changed. It was written all over your face - guilt, guilt, guilt - but I was naive and thought you were just shy.
I can't believe that it's been so long since you cracked me open under star spangled skies. I can't believe it's been almost a decade yet I'm still just as aware of you as I was before. The Time to Sleep - Chapter 1~P~The Time to Sleep - Chapter 13 years ago in Emotional More Like This
Korra curled into her little body, desperately seeking warmth that would not come to her. She was tucked tightly against a brick wall in an alleyway, snow lightly littering the ground around her and sending a chill through her small form.
She would have bent a small fire in her hand to keep herself warm, but decided not to risk it what if someone saw the little Water Tribe girl Firebending? Even though it was unlikely, someone could see her, someone who might be involved with the Equalists, and they couldn't know, no one could that she was the Avatar. If someone found out, she would be in unavoidable danger.
She remembered what her parents used to tell her "Don't let anyone know, Korra. Keep your secret to only yourself." It was by those words that she abided, never letting on that she could bend three of the four elements she needed to be able to. They had told her she had to pretend to only be a Waterbender, and so pretend she did.

Mako awoke with a start, and darted into his parents' bedroom.
"Mom, Dad! I think there's someone-" he whispered fearfully, only stopping when he realized that there was no one in the room.
The eight year old gasped in confusion, then darted out into the living room, where more smashing and splintering noises had erupted.
It was a nightmare in there. Two firebenders were mercilessly blasting flames at each other, and there was a body on the floor.
His father was dead.
Mako felt the room flash before him, and he stepped back, slowly.
Teetering, teetering... he crept around the wall and stood, hiding, and watching the horror unfold as his mother was electrocuted by the other mysterious firebender with whom she was fighting.
She fell in what seemed like slow motion.
Mako's mother was gone.
His parents were gone.
And now, the criminal grabbed whatever valuables he could find, and sprinted out of the house. Mako remained frozen in the thre

He soon realized that being the only neera in the class, however, made it more than a little difficult to hide. He caught a few stares from the guys and some chuckling and giggling from the girls. He blushed, hiding his face behind his ears again. Maybe next time he would walk up to the very back of the class and sit there, where it would be a little easier to remain unnoticed.Roommates Part 7-1012 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
The classroom was set up like an amphitheater, rows of seats arranged upwards as they got farther back, so that everyone got a good view of the front of the classroom, which was almost like a broad stage. Set up in the middle was a graviton table, which floated above the ground a few feet, and arrayed on top of it… was a human corpse.
Chris knew immediately what it was the moment he entered the room. The smell of formaldehyde made it obvious that it was a real body, and not just some puppet or hologr

The air, thick with tension, sings with with intense desire, the flame of a fire
and among the twirl of the smoke and flame runs the soothing stream of water
that lines the world with the warming yet cruel nature of what is known as love.
Many think that such an emotion is unreal, frightening and crazy
when in reality, it can be something so precious in the smallest grasp, alive and amazing.
But when held wrong, something so strong can become evil and twisted.
The ground moved under their steps, the hair pressed against her face sweaty and twisted,
and in his hand, flickering and vital, a small but powerful lick of fire
of which would normally be of destruction and fear, but in this case, warm and amazing.
"You better watch out," she mused with a grin. "One wrong move, and you're in the water."
"Don't be stupid," he jibed back, grin all too charming. "You beating me would be crazy."
And then they continued through the silly game that they both loved.

"Why, what happened to him?" Korra asked and tilted her head.

"Well... Bolin told me Pabu and I should make a better bond with each other, so I brought him out to the city and he kept climbing up my body then he kept nibbling on my ears. He wouldn't stop no matter how hard I tried to get him to, so I just threw one simple fireball at him and then he ran off." Mako explained. The way Mako's expression was, made Korra somewhat surprised because she had never seen Mako like this before. He had probably done this when Bolin has run off when they didn't have a home before, but it still surprised

Much as with the Old Chateau of the Sinnoh Region, the Strange House was once occupied by people on a regular basis but is today a husk of what it once was, filled only now with never-ending silence aside from the few Pokémon that make it their home. This is, however, not the complete truth; as it turns out, this house is actually haunted by a number of unexplained apparitions, some of which are believed to be connected to the family that once lived in the building. This is particularly the case in regards to a young, Abra-loving girl who died in the house long ago after being locked into a coma-like nightmare by a Darkrai. Few trainers are bold enough to try and observe these phenomena in person and even fewer can overcome seeing furniture move right before their eyes without screaming and running away, but for those

"Watch Korra, I have to go somewhere," a rather cold and serious expression on Mako's face told Bolin not to question the location that was 'somewhere.'
He nodded, Mako jumped on Naga and left through the woods, the beast ran quickly as if it knew Korra was in fatal trouble which was good enough for Mako.
He stopped and jumped in the middle of the woods, he put his hands up, Naga sniffed him and snorted as if a stench overtook his body.
He stood there for a good minute before five Equalist circled him.
"I need to talk with Amon," they all looked at one another and nodded, one grabbed him and placed a blindfold on his face, he could hear Naga growing angry with them.
He was going to the belly of the beast.
After a good 6 minutes they took off his blindfold and pushed him to a door.
