One Last TimeHundreds of eyes followed my movements as I shakily rose from my seat and walked up to the piano. The church had fallen quiet; the only sound that broke the eerie silence was the soft sound of my sheet music rustling in my trembling hands. The paper was growing damp as my palms became sweaty with nerves getting the better of me.
As I reached the grand instrument I set the music down on the supplied stand, relieved to find that my perspiration had only affected the edges. The top of the first page read Chances by Athlete, and despite the grim circumstance I had found myself in I felt a small smile tug at my lips. It had been my mother's favourite song and I was going to honour her in the best way I possibly could ... By playing it at her funeral.
Lowering myself down to the piano stool, I allowed by bloodshot eyes to drift to the coffin. It sat atop the small stage, covered in vibrantly-coloured flowers, delicate spiral patterns, and koru shapes etched into the woodwork. It was b
SixWordStories Question Contest: Win a 3 Month PM!UPDATE: Two more weeks to go! Please make sure that your entry is in the folder!SixWordStories Question Contest: Win a 3 Month PM!1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
A type of Flash Fiction, six word stories are (very) short stories with an exact word count: six words. SixWordStories is the place where, alongside quality, quantity really does matter. Though these stories are so brief in length, they can be as profound, if not more, than the prose and poetry you see and read every day, partly because six word stories can tell us so much and yet contain so little.
As a Group, we encourage writers to explore their boundaries with prompts, collaborations and more, but we accept anyone and everyone too! Whether you are a digital artist, photographer, or something else entirely, if you can string six words together into a story, this is the place to be!
Please support the contest and the article so that more can join in on the fun!

bound behind thick iron chains.
Indestructable armour rusting and peeling,
well beyond help or healing.
Sitting there, unmoving,
tortured thoughts causing mental bruising.
Thoughts of a man - master of the clocks,
With his screwdriver and a little blue box.
A madman, a legend, a lord of time.
An alien constantly in his prime.
Conqueror of the ill,
Nothing but thrills and skill.
The daleks, this unstable race,
meeting the madman throughout time and space.
Those who failed to perish,
relish in thoughts oh-so hellish.
Daleks deafeated by the timelord,
but did not die, on the brink of restored.
Reliving memories of the past,
Their state above and beyond aghast.
In an explosion of fire and flames,
Sounds drowing inaudible exclaims.
Feeling the heat though the metal, striking the core,
These are the daleks who have come across the Doctor before.
10 Days of Honesty [Prompt Series]Hello darlings10 Days of Honesty [Prompt Series]1 year ago in Personal More Like This
This prompt series was originally posted by iPawed waaaaaay back in 2010, but it's fantastic, so I'm going to give it a go. You can find the original journal here.
I'm posting about it before I even start, so that you lovely people can guilt me into keeping to my deadlines. SO. Within twenty-four hours I will have the first of these up, and we can go from there. I'll update this journal with links to each day as I complete them.
Do link me to your versions if you decide to take on the challenge as well!
Day One: Ten things you want to say to ten different people right now.
Needing Your Help Bringing Back Daily Lit DeviantI'm currently sitting upon two week's worth of articles from my Daily Lit Deviant series, not because I've started writing new ones, but because these articles have been in my sta.sh since the project was cancelled months ago. I have always regretted this decision, but it was too much for one fairy man to pull off. I really would like to bring this project back to life but I would need help. If you're up for featuring one literature deviant every other week (granted we get enough team members), please note me with the following:Needing Your Help Bringing Back Daily Lit Deviant1 year ago in Literature Features More Like This
A person you think should be featured:
An example of their work:
A one sentence write-up of who they are:
If you're accepted onto the team and the project is revived, the person in your application will be your first feature.
Let's get this going again!
