Odyssey Propulsion 2The parasite that is monstrously mutating Paul offers an alliance against Maya, Paul’s other dubious “protector.”Odyssey Propulsion 26 months ago in deviantART Blog More Like This
The parasite is Tal’Shen, spawn of Lysanna, hunted forerunner of an ancient aquatic-based intergalactic Cthulhuian-type race once again knocking on Earth’s door. Which “female” is Paul to trust? Is the fate of humanity in question or is this all the hallucinatory fever dream of a dying man?
Only four more chapters! Yet so many questions!
The pressure points have been set: self-survival, self-sacrifice for a greater cause, transmission of a vision of species survival and renewal, trust and deceit in equal measures possible in each relationship. Now it’s time to for the penultimate Big Reveal as to what it’s all about – to set up the Ultimate Big Reveal to what it’s really all about! There’s just time and space enough for you, oh skilled and deviou
Odyssey Update 1This first weekend of reading and re-reading Odyssey selections was just as intensely rewarding as last year. I am incredibly grateful to once again be able to share this process with all of you. Having Clive Barker on board for Odyssey II is truly an enlightening and educative experience. There is nothing more thrilling than reading through each of the entries and then re-reading the chapters that truly resonate and carry with them immense writing skill. This story could have gone in so many worthy directions and genres, and there was no end to the creativity and storytelling skill on so many of the submissions.Odyssey Update 17 months ago in deviantART Blog More Like This
The people in my life were adequately warned, but there were still those that questioned my sanity and work methods as I stayed up for the duration of the weekend meticulously poring over eachof the entries... then starting over and reading them again.

We want to especially thank an elite core of Odyssey II writers:
Those deviants truly embodying the spirit of the project by continuing to create and submit next chapters – no matter the story’s refusal to go along with their proposed direction. The zeitgeist is a powerful force, but the artist must know when to sail against the been-there-done-that. And our writers, artists and poets have been doing that week after week. So many artists and writers continue to send in wonderful material week after week.
We have decided to extend the writing deadline for the last chapter to December 31 and we're

1. Miscellaneous vs Other
Over the past few months, we've been diligently working on cleaning up the category tree of old and unused categories. While most of this will go unnoticed by the community, what you will notice is the change from "Miscellaneous" galleries to "Other". The reason for this change is simple. The concept of Miscellaneous leads one to believe that it's a junk drawer category for everything under the sun when the intention was to be an "Other" category for deviations that don't fit well in other sub-categories of the tree. We're also working on u

The text brush lets you create visual art using words. You can change the text and font from the bottom bar, and you can also set whether or not the text repeats itself continuously. When you click the font button, you'll be prompted with a modal that contains an extensive list of fonts to choose from! The sample text will update based on the font you select, so you can get a sense of what you'll be painting before you paint it.
As an example of the great things you can create with this tool, you can check out $mudimba's I Have A Dream, or watch a redraw of $mudimba at work creating art!

The other week, a piece of my writing was selected for a Daily Literature Deviation. If you're curious you can see the article here. I was humbled by that, but my reason for mentioning it in Photography Bi-weekly is that *0hgravity then highlighted a website to me that I found absolutely fascinating. It's soul purpose is to highlight Endangered Languages through Photography. 3170 lens are capturing the people who hold the key to the worlds most secret languages. Once again something like this highlights the complete and utter importance of Photography and reminds us of how far we've come, and how much we can do from mobile ph

"Creativity, like human life itself - begins in Darkness "
-Julia Cameron."
I read a very interesting article this week debating Photography Vs Literature and which one of the two tells us more. Of course there is always the element that a picture could be accompanied by words but neither aspect is enough to tell a whole story. But as the article says, Photography has become a universal constant in the world today and is accessible to nearly everybody. Yet many still believe that only pure narration can truly tell a story. What are your thoughts? As Photographers we can choose to limit what we tell or show with a photograph, we can even mislead. Can we convey more with words? Or more with an image? You could describe a person with words but never truly give an accurate picture of who they are visually without a photograph...

“Everyone talks about the weather, but no one does anything about it.”
― Mark Twain
The sky is so often underestimated in terms of Photography that I felt compelled to give it a bit of love and talk about it in this weeks article. I've been following UK Storm Chasers on facebook who have been documenting the arrival of the 'demon child of Nadine' as it has been deemed. Hurricane Nadine is still out there in the Atlantic Ocean spinning around and preparing to send the UK another demon child (which is really just a tropical storm to us) and with it comes a plethora of opportunities to snap some stunning skies and horizons. But do we appreciate the sky enough? I don't think we do. When was the last time you stopped shooting at eye level and looked up? Often, there's nothing there - but often too, there's something worth capturing. The general rule when capturing la

"Replace Fear of the Unknown with Curiosity..."
As the year crawls into the final quarter - lots of challenges and daily photo tasks and so on begin to conclude. I have personally been challenging myself with the 365 Photography challenge - a photo a day for a whole year. It has been tricky to say the least, especially as I set myself a high standard of capturing more than one Photo a day - but also rewarding. Setting yourself a challenge, whether it's following the 52 week photography challenges that are out there, or doing a themed challenge such as 365 breakfasts - is a great way of expanding on your portfolio. Whilst it sometimes means that you struggle to find anything interesting to photograph or share, on the days that you do, you're one step closer to building another aspect of your portfolio.
Next week in Photography Troubleshooting - we will be looking at Money Matters and so

"“Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties.”
- Erich Fromm
Weather Photography has always fascinated me - the weather in general does anyway, but capturing those changes, shifts in atmosphere and so on have always had me in awe. However when browsing the latest news within popular photography early this week I was stunned by an image that NASA had captured of hurricane Isaac as it lurked over the USA. I've been in a hurricane before, but it never felt as organised or precise as this image shows. This shows a smooth beautiful cloud formation. When below it's likely wreaking havoc and destroying lives. It's difficult to match the two together and contemplate them as the same thing. It's also incredible how we've advanced in terms of technology. This shot of Hurricane Isaac was captured at the end of a month in which images have been transferred from Mars. We, as a human rac
