Frequently asked1. How long have you been using watercolors?Frequently asked4 years ago in Journal Scraps More Like This
I started more actively as I entered high school around 2002.
2. What kind of paper do you use?
3 different ones: Classic watercolour paper 250g/m², Bockingford watercolour paper 300g/m² and Canson's Montval watercolour paper 300g/m², which I found from a discount.
3. Paper size?
Usually A4 (8.27 x 11.69 inches) or half smaller format A5, since they're so easy to file in that size.
4. By "aquarelles" do you mean colored pencils?
No, but fine watercolors. All the watercolors I use come as button-colors (or "cakes" as some call them).
5. What's the difference between fine watercolors and thicker watercolors?
Fine ones need more water and less color to look smooth and make wonderful washes, unlike with thicker ones you need to use more color and less water for it's different opaque. The thicker watercolors I use are called "peitevärit" in Finnish, but I don't know the correct translation fo

Edd contacted me waay back when I was still new at animation and stuff and we usually exchange convos once in a blue moon and had a friendly chat...
My last msn convo I had with him was a patient to patient talk with him sharing our experience with cancer and understanding each other's experience with cancer.
I believe it was me telling edd how I've finished my own chemotherapy treatment and wishing him the best in recovery from his cancer..
I always thought he was in good hands and he was doing pretty good with his treatment.
Edd shall be missed as hes probably the very few animators that are still making a statement and popularity back from the 2000 era to keep animating and still making it big

1. Selling yourself as a beginner
I found a prime example of this in a forum for artists seeking work. The thread title was Starting-out artist looking for a chance",, and the thread told that the artist is looking for a client for whom I may draw" and has just graduated from art college".
We all were at this point once, but usually it takes too long to realize that beginner" is the wrong mindset, even if you are one. Such statements sound like excuses and are guaranteed to weaken your position. Don't make excuses. Do not justify your work, and do not justify your prices. This is a tricky habit to acquire since we're not very confident by nature, but remember the image you wan

This journal I decided to make it helpful. (hopefully) ^^
If you like to paint digitally, it doesn't matter what program you are using.
As long as it is functional enough for you, and you enjoy painting when you use it. ^^
I love to try all painting programs, it's like exploring!
Though we already know that Photoshop, Painter and Sai are great, but there are free ones
that good enough to create artwork as beautiful as those programs. ^^
Many times that I randomly posted about them but this time I want to collect them all here!
So it will be convenient for you all to check and compare them.
What I can say is that I'm grateful and appreciate those creators who spent their time and hard working and share them to us.
That's why I want to support and share them to you all!
I will
Graphic Artists of dA, Behold: A Pricing GuideHello, all. I felt the need to create this news article for the benefit of every artist on deviantArt who intends to make money from their talent.Graphic Artists of dA, Behold: A Pricing Guide3 years ago in Resources More Like This
When one visits the deviantArt 'Employment Opportunities' forum, they should be shocked at what they find. Startling low prices abound. These are both offered by the clients, as well as quoted by the artists. The sad truth is most people aren't shocked at all. The perceived consensus is that it's business as usual. A lower price means an increased likelihood that a client will do business with you, right? In some ways yes, but not at this extreme. You must remember that 'you get what you pay for'. It's widely accepted that the more demanded your talents are, the higher skilled you are, the more you can charge. If a client wants, no needs, your work over someone else, they wil

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO START
When you have enough watchers and people interested in your art.
When you have a closely-bounded community around your work/gallery
How many is enough I won't say, because it soly depends on the community around you and your work. Some artists can live on one patron, others need to live on millions of them.
If you need more exposure, do fanart. After all, people would type and search famous series, not your name. If they do type your name, you are famous.
If you don't want to do fanart, the other option is draw the cliche-category.
Pirates are selling, draw pirates.
Angels and demons always sell
You get my drift?
HOW TO START

PE: Power of PerspectivePE: Power of PerspectivePE: Power of Perspective4 months ago in Editorials More Like This
Perspective is the angle and depth of a piece of art. Changing perspective allows for drastic differences. There is more than one kind of perspective, and all of them allow for more dynamic pieces of art if used correctly.
There are three common choices, and these are explained later.
Usually perspective deals with how close things appear, and correctly rendering perspective adds depth to an image and increases the impact of the composition.
One Point Perspective
One point perspective is where there is one vanishing point in a piece. . A vanishing point is essentially the in-the-distance-until-you-can'

Tip of the Day: Doubters and HatersBefore you start off your career (or perhaps you just started your career) there tends to be more doubters and haters around you.Tip of the Day: Doubters and Haters1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Most doubters and haters lurk at the bottom because they're too fearful or ignorant to try.
Sometimes many of our biggest doubters aren't bottom lurkers but our relatives or friends. Most of the time they mean well but they are not YOU. They don't know what you are capable of.
For many people, you are your worst hater and doubter. The only way you can find what you're capable of is by trying your absolute hardest. True failure comes from not trying!

Get your Art some Attention on deviantARTFive basic tips to get your Art some Attention, Appreciation & Audience on deviantARTGet your Art some Attention on deviantART2 years ago in Editorials More Like This
Here's some tips that may not get you a consistent spot on the front page right away, but that will definitely help getting some watchers and friends, whether you already have some, or not.
First, let me make clear that this is only about 'good' attention if you just want, say, a certain pageview count, there are probably better ways. This article is for those who would like some people to take them serious as an artist and to actively watch them.
Also note that you needn't follow all of the tips below, but it's recommendable to follow at least 3 of them. Just one or two will not usually get you very far.
So here we go! :iconeagerpee:
Submit art regularly.
Try to find a balance between quality and quantity. Personally I think it's best to submit one or a couple of de
