Commissioned piece for a DA member. I love working with others on DA. Everyone's low key and they "get" the art thing. You can always tell if a commissioner understands the art process or if they're like me in math class (ever see that ecard "If you have 4 apples and I have 7 pencils, how many pancakes will fit on the roof? Purple, because aliens don't wear hats," yeah, that's me).

Anyway, Daenerys with her newly hatched dragons inside of the ring of fire. No, her clothes haven't burnt off yet. We're keeping it PG people. Finished product has a few more flames, but you get the idea.

So I'm on the hunt for a container or cage of some sort for this little guy. After making the raven I wanted to make another bird, just something small enough that I could practically display. One day I will have a house with enough room to put some of my book around, but for now...the smaller the better. This is a nightingale. The colored pages are taken from a copy of Anderson's Fairy Tales. The branch is made from "The Nightingale". Great little story about letting the things you love be free. Once I have him in something I'll post the finished project.

A set of four glass ornaments. Each ornament contains the sheet music of American classic songs. The sheet music dates from 1890, giving the paper a rich, aged color. The songs included are "Yankee Doodle", "Dixie", "The Dying Volunteer", and "The Battle Cry of Freedom". Bows are removable.

Music and books come to life with this book sculpture. Made from "The Lives of the Great Composers" by Schonberg, our piano man sits to play his masterpiece. Could he be the next Beethoven? With powdered wig style hair and wearing a coat with tails, the composer cuts a dashing figure. Behind him are the portraits of other composers taken from the book. they include Schumann and his wife, Clara, Paganini, and Weber. They will also be included.

I was recently contacted by a jewelry designer in Paris. She had the brilliant idea of creating a back story for all of her pieces. She asked if I could sculpt the pieces for her, leaving room to display the jewelry on the book. Best of all, the pieces would be traveling with her to Fashion Week. How can you not say yes to that?

This is the third book. The little girl is sitting in a garden, drawing a bluebird. There will be a bluebird ring placed in the nest in the tree. One of my favorites from the series. The girl's face came out perfectly and the whole sculpture worked nicely with the ring.

Check out her jewelry here: www.morphee-joaillerie.com and click the link there to get to her Facebook to see photos of the books with her jewelry.

All sculptures made for Morphee cannot be recreated.
