Halloween Hoo Doo Contest
First off, THANK YOU to all the entrants. Without you this wouldn't be possible. If I had enough points I would give everyone a prize.
Speaking of prizes - just like last year, I decided to add a 3rd place prize to each category. It was just so very hard to decide on the winners. I swear I promised myself I wasn't going to do this again... but here we are.
I'll award the prizes shortly.
Please support all the artists and their work. If anyone disagrees with my choices please contact me and do not hurt the feelings of the artist.

Getting into vexelling and vectoringSo you've read news features on vexel art and vector art... you've seen a few Daily Deviations under the vexel or vector art category... you've even started to become a fan of the art form, now you want to take that leap into actually creating it yourself!Getting into vexelling and vectoring7 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Well it's a good job you're reading this article as I'm about to give you some advice on how easy it is to get into this art form and how enjoyable it can be... even addictive!
First thing you have to understand is that vexel and vector art are not a STYLE. It's a common misconception that these categories are a style when infact they are just the medium. Specificially with vectors, it may look like an airbrushed piece, but infact it's vector meshes!
Without going into theory work, vexels and vectors are based upon the same production techniques however the main and significant difference between the mediums are that vexels are based on raster (pixel) layers and vectors are based on vector layers. This means a vec
Best of 2012As is normal during this time of the year, I thought I would celebrate some of the best traditional graphite drawings I have seen this year. These are the people who I admire, and those that remain an inspiration to any inspiring pencil artist. They are what I deem to be the glitterati of DA, the royal family of pencil art and those that us mere mortals can only hope emulate in our dreamsBest of 20123 years ago in Personal More Like This
I hope you enjoy these pieces as much as I do, if you are going to Watch anyone on DA - then watch these, sit back and admire!!

BEST. MORNING. EVER.So I was on my way to college and I was just bored as fuck trying to get there in a hurry (a normal morning XD) when I look over and see these two old ladies in a car painted like the British flag. :iconsweetjesusplz: Damn...that car was beautiful :iconitsbeautifulplz: So I was like skdjflkasjfld;skjfs WANT. Well I couldn't resist my next thought. One of the old ladies had her window rolled down, so without further ado I rolled down my window, poked my head out and sang "MARUKAITE CHIKYUU! MARUKAITE CHIKYUU! MARUKAITE CHIKYUU!!---" before I could finish the old lady closest to me stuck her head out and shouted "BOKU HETALIA!!!!" :iconUS-XDplz: Oh my fucking god!!!! XD Dude I dunno if they heard the song from one of their grandkids or something of if they watched it themselves but either way it was funny as fuckin hell. BEST. MORNING. EVER.BEST. MORNING. The difference between Vector and Vexel ArtAfter writing my first article on an introduction to getting into vexel and vector art, a question was raised to do with the differences between the art forms. The difference between Vector and Vexel Art7 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I guess being so engrossed with the art forms for over 6 years now, I've taken my knowledge for granted. It's typical of any artist in most genres. What knowledge and skill set we have is second nature. So my second article, I'd like to show and explain you the differences between Vexel and Vector art. So I present to you, the dummies guide to the difference between vexel and vector art!
Looking straight at the work, it's hard to tell the difference between a skillfully created vexel and a vector. This is because they are not a style of art, but a medium of art.
When we say a "medium" we mean with how a piece of art is created or what with. For instance we have both traditional and digital paintings. A traditional painting is created with, for example, o
Hard core, manToday at work, an older gentleman came in and asked how much it would cost to make copies of nine pages from a law book. I told him that at fifteen cents per page, his order would cost $1.35. He put one elbow on the counter, waggled his eyebrows, and said, “I bet you could use that for your party money, huh?”Hard core, man2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I had to refrain from cackling because a) $1.35 won’t even buy a pack of those noisemakers you use to annoy your parents on New Year’s Eve and b) I am the absolute farthest thing from a party girl ever. My idea of a party involves Disney karaoke, sliding on the tile in my socks, and rolling around on the floor until my gas is gone. I have had, in total, approximately four to five whole glasses of wine in my entire life. I do not twerk, grind, bump, or air hump. I do not shake my thing up in the club with my homies. I do not participate in keggers. The shortest skirt I own comes to the middle of my knees. I would rather wear a bustle than
9 reasons to appreciate ACRYLICS1. UNIVERSALITY - Acrylic are probably the most versatile of paints. You can thin them with water and use as watercolor (they will remain permanent upon drying, unlike watercolor), apply them in full strength, create textures.9 reasons to appreciate ACRYLICS3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
2. COMBINABLE - This medium is very suitable to be combined with anything you wish - watercolor, ink, pencils, oils... Free your imagination and experiment!
3. NUMEROUS SUITABLE SURFACES - Acrylics can be used on paper, canvas, wood, metal and many more surfaces (this is true, even though they don't adhere towards some surfaces as promptly as oils). This is a great advantage, when you get used to this medium, you can paint at whatever material you've got available.
4. DON'T STINK - That's right, all of you that have experienced headaches caused by oil paint might just appreciate an acrylic vacation!
5. FAST DRYING TIME - Composition doesn't seem right after you put down your first layer? This is not a problem, wait half an hour
2013 Review - Pencil DrawingsSo at this time of the year I like to review my favourite pencil drawings of the year - these are the drawings that I have noticed and added to my gallery, and are the ones that inspire me to improve. 2013 Review - Pencil Drawings2 years ago in Personal More Like This
People always ask how they can improve their drawings, and the simple answer is always "by practising" which is completely true - but added to that; looking, analysing and simply admiring other peoples work can also help you learn new techniques, identify what makes a good reference from a bad one, and simply push you to trying to emulate some of the pure artistic majesty of these peoples work.
So without further rambling, these are the pencil drawings (with a bit of added charcoal ) that I have admired most during 2013 - Enjoy

Almost 3 weeks :DI just noticed that nearly 50 people are watching my account (48 atm)! Yay! It is so nice to see people commenting and faving more than once. At the same time you read and see how they are progressing and what they make. Feels like getting to know people in the neighbourhood and realizing that you should have got in contact with them long ago.Almost 3 weeks :D2 years ago in Personal More Like This
If/when 50 watchers are reached I want to feature them here. Not sure how exactly that works, so any help is welcome.
Drawing wise the next week will be dominated by Skyrim again. I have some more social studies subjects on my list and if you find a suitable screenshot in your library/gallery you are always welcome to show me
Also: Black Shuck! and hopefully more improvised drawings in cooperation with my little ones.
Thanks for those fabulous weeks!

So I ended up getting home at like 3:20 AM this morning and didn't fall asleep until 5:30 AM. Well normally that isn't bad because I can sleep in well it wasn't going to work that way since I was going to have to go to church. Normally I would have just skipped out on the service and just spent some time praying and being alone with God because I personally think it's more important to have a personal relationship with him than go into a big building full of superficial people (not all the people but quite a few). Anyway, I couldn't skip this Sunday because it was an important Sunday my dad was getting elected into a leadership position in my church and I wanted to be there for him.
So I managed to get
Why you feature stolen work?!?!Lately there seem to have been a few myths flying around in particular with regards to how we as Community Volunteers, give Daily Deviations. Many people seem to think that we sit at our desks in dark little rooms and let out evil laughter whilst we purposefully feature stolen work. The dark rooms and laughter - well I can't say yes or no on that one! But I can promise you it's not our intent to give exposure to people who have stolen work. I recently featured a piece of work that turned out to be stolen. However I went into extensive conversations with the artist before I featured it, and with added metadata and dates, it's difficult to know where to draw the line. I've given people the benefit of the doubt before - and it's worked out nicely as their work has been legitimate. Below are some comments I have seen being thrown around the past few days - and hopefully an attempt to bust the myth. Why you feature stolen work?!?!3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This

Contest: Arts for Animal Rights!(Edit: Check the final results here.)Contest: Arts for Animal Rights!4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Hello, I´d like to hold my first contest here!
Your challenge is to produce (or offer, if already made) a nice piece of art supporting the animal rights. It may be especially traditional or digital art, but I would accept other forms too, like literature or photomanipulation, if they´re good.
The best and simplest definition for me concerning this issue is that an animal cannot be considered a property of any human. So they can live in freedom and no exploitation by our species.
Just note that while animal welfare is about reduction of suffering or "happier lives" when or before animals are used or killed; animal rights is about non-use of animals at all.
The deadline is March 15th. The entries will be voted by the members of the Group of Studies on Animal Rights, here in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the winner will be chosen thi

When recently asked how his political candidate would explain certain positions taken during the
nomination process with contrary positions to be taken during the general election, the campaign chief
replied that stated political positions were “like an Etch A Sketch,”—meaning they could simply be
flipped over, erased and begun over from scratch.
Were it that adult life were as simple as a happy Etch A Sketch memory from childhood.
(The campaign chief took heavy heat for his flippant, if truthful, statement.) The incident made
me wonder how many of us had early experiences as “sketch artists” with that incredible red toy that
has become almost standard issue for so many children still to this day.
