Prologue - Restless Night
Through the darkness in a silent room, a young black dragon stirred restlessly up and down through the layers of sleep. His mate, the somewhat beautiful blue and white dragoness Twilight, slept heavily next to him, oblivious to his constant shuffling. Raiko awoke completely for the fifth time that night, to find he had barely slept another 20 minutes since he last awoke from his light sleep. Raiko at this point had lost his patience and instead of trying fruitlessly for a sixth time for any form of decent sleep, he decided he would try and solve the problem. He needed to wear himself out, and to clear his head. Luckily, there was one thing he loved to do more than anything (besides Twilight) that did both for him. Raiko rolled over to face his beloved mate sleeping next to him. She was on her side, facing away from him, wings tucked in her sides and tail curled in front o

This is my first deviation, so I hope you like it. It is a story set in the world of Spyro the Dragon, sometime in his late teen years. I've tried to use a range of techniques for symbolism and representation, including using colour and timing, and also I have tried to make the language as descriptive as varied as possible. The main characters this story are not yet completely grown adults, however they have reached sexual maturity, as well as completed all forms of basic training which have given them the skills they need to get through life well. I.e., flight skills, elemental training, biology, literacy, basic history, honour, foundation fighting skills etc. So the equivalent of about 16/17 in human years. (I will leave you to decide exactly how old this is in Dragon years.)
Our story however, is not about Spyro himself. It is rather about a strange newcomer, who, at first is taken to be a threat but soon gains the trust of others, one dragoness in particular: Twilight. Twi

The dark purple dragoness awoke the following morning, to the peaceful, quiet sound of birdsong in the distance, emanating through her open window. The sound, carried by a cool, early morning breeze was an ironically peaceful and tranquil beginning, to what for Cynder, and more importantly one of her best friends, would become a day from hell. As Cynder slowly awoke, to find she had (for once) slept alone in her own bed, her mind slowly began to fill her in on the details and events that had occurred the evening before. Raiko not coming back. The sight of his injuries worsening. The thought of Twilight melting in heartbreak when she would have to tell her the news. All the thoughts hovered around her mind, and slowly slotted themselves into place, bringing Cynder slowly back into her dreadful reality. Once her mind had briefed her on the events of the night before, and what she would have to do today, Cynder let out a long, deep sigh and began to stretch herself out.

Twilight closely and carefully analysed surroundings, both her heart and mind racing at light speed. Her blood was pumping round so fast around her body, and her muscles were so tight that she could barely think. She tried to concentrate on her surroundings, focusing all her determination into her mind, and attempting to analyze the environment for the slightest flicker of hope, faintest clue, or trace of movement. Brute force however refused to work for her. Her panicked and desperate brain, no matter how hard she forced it to, simply could not make heads or tails of anything around her, and couldn't come up with any information as to her beloved's whereabouts. Suddenly however, the spiritual side of Twilight soul suddenly kicked in. Twilight felt a faint voice in the back of her head telling her to relax, and take control of the situation. "Calm down Twilight. Relax and allow your environment to fill you up. Just relax and think for a moment." Came the ghostly voice at the

"Raven? RAVEN!" Raven suddenly snapped out of his day dream and realised that Rose had obviously just asked him something.
"Oh I'm sorry Rose. What did you say?" Rose sighed and repeated her question.
"What's the deal with you and Crystal?" Her voice, much to Raven's surprise, didn't have a trace of anger.
"Oh… Err...No deal I guess. We are friends, that's just about it." He stammered.
"Crystal?" Twilight asked, who had not yet been introduced to her.
"The… Rather good looking… purple dragoness Raven, Dash, and Mistyte came with." Lucia said. Twilights mind flashed back to the day before, and what she had seen in the forest. Crystal… how did she know that name?
"Ya, I think she went swimming or something this morning, but like I said, we are just friends." Raven wondered if he had just given himself away by being too persistent of their friendship.
"Really? Your telling me you've known her all thi

It was now late afternoon, and the temperature was rapidly dropping as Cynthia searched for food. She had been able to collect a few apples, assorted nuts, and had even been able to catch a juicy trout from the fresh water river that ran through the forest and fed several watery spots, including were she would soon have to head back to. She had eaten the fish pretty much instantly herself though, on account of her own hunger, (Lucia had often complained about how tetchy Cynthia got when she was hungry).
Climbing down from yet another fruitless tree, her ears pricked up, as a tempting sound invaded her mind. Clucking. Such a promising sound. She slowly peered over the foliage, trying to catch sight of her prize without being spotted herself. Sure enough, there it was. A juicy looking, wild chicken. Easily enough food for all of them; if she could catch it.
Staying low, Cynthia began to make her way slowly around the
