My HeroMy Hero3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
My hero isn't in comics
My hero doesn't have a show on t.v
I don't see my hero anymore
My hero was a U.S soldier
He fought for me, my friends, and our country
He was shot in the heart
The same heart that loved his country so much he gave his life for it
Even though he may be gone
Even though no one can see him anymore
Even though he rests 10 feet under ground
Beneath a soldier's memorial stone
He is still with his men
Beside them watching over them
So no family has to go through the same grieving process
He may be gone in the flesh but not in my heart
He is still my soldier
He is still my hero
A Soldiers MemorialA Soldiers Memorial3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
People watch the soldiers carrying the coffin
They watch and stare at the big brown box
Carrying a son, a husband, a father, and a soldier
The mother and father watch thinking
"Why are we burying our son when it should be the other way around?",
The wife watches as she cries thinking to herself
"I don't want the words till death do we part to come true.",
His daughter stands there holding her mothers hand crying asking her mom
"Where's daddy mommy why isn't he waking up and why are those men carrying his box?",
His fellow soldiers look at the box watching it move down the row of people
They all think back to when he was shot and all say to themselves
"Why couldn't I have saved him he didn't deserve this, he didn't deserve to be carried off the battle field raw and breathless?",
The soldiers shoot off their guns in memory of
A son, a husband, a father, and a soldier...
A Soldiers PromiseA Soldiers Promise3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
As a man plays with his daughter he gets the call
The man sits quietly on the phone as he listens to his future,
His daughter grabs his hand and asks him if somethings wrong
He quietly watches and then says,
"Nothing sweetheart I promise I will be alright."
A few years later the girl is all grown up
Daddy is still gone to war,
The girl's father calls one night
They talk for hours and hours then he whispers something to her and leaves,
The girl watches her friends and their dads
She quietly whispers her dads words,
"I promise I'll be home soon and safe."
A few days later the man's daughter receives a call
As she drops the phone crying she thinks back,
She thinks about the days when she was young
When she was scared he was there to protect her,
She remembers his warm touch caress her face
His deep voice reading her a bed time story,
Then she remembers her soldier's promise
"I promise I'll be home soon and safe."

I watch her walking
I hear her talking
she catches my wandering eye
she walks by being chastised
I want to ask her so many questions
"Why won't you speak?"
"Don't you know your so unique?"
"Can I see your beautiful smile?"
"Why are you so hostile?"
I can see you have so many suggestions
People write you off as strange
But there is no need for you to change
Stupid GirlStupid Girl3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Stupid girl is what she hears
Stupid girl is what she's learned,
As she hears those words
From her family and friends she thinks to herself,
Since when did I become the stupid girl
I have common sense,
I''m on the honor roll for school,
Then she notices as she's getting yelled at once again and crying
It's not about book smarts or intelligence
But about anger, frustration, and hatred,
Her friends and family show their feelings through those words...
We RememberWe Remember3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
We remember that fateful day
Birds in the sky
Clouds in that big blue ocean
People bustling around those crowded streets
We were all living life, laughing at everything, and loving our lives
Everyone was either watching the television or working
Then it fell silent
No one spoke a word
Not a sound was heard from any ones mouth
The only thing we heard were the planes coming and the planes crashing
We remember everyone who survived that horrible day
We remember all the heros that helped during that dark time
We remember the two buildings that used to hold a spot in our skyline
That as we looked up to see them they would blend with the sky
We remember that dead silence, the heartache, and the despair of that day
The black spot in our countries heart will always be there for everybody to see
We remember 9/11

returned to me
you my love

The Caged Birds SongFor the caged birdThe Caged Birds Song3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
sings of freedom.
The caged bird sings
to hear his own songs.
For in all the twitters and tweets,
and in the cries and screams,
the caged bird sings
to hear the song of freedom
that it shall never know.
The caged bird has no use for words
or shouts of anger and sobs of terror.
The caged bird only needs its song.
Through bars and glass
the caged bird sings its song
and the caged bird and I,
we sing together,
because we are not free
in mind and soul
but together we are free
Good MorningGood Morning.Good Morning3 years ago in Songs & Lyrics More Like This
I have a distressing tendency of waking up too early.
The sun escaping from the blinds always begins to stir me.
Just as I begin to behave sullen and surly, her presence averts me.
I turn to my side to see the vein in her left arm pump overtly.
She's completely immersed by the covers.
I have to resist temptation not to hold and hug her.
Her body suddenly moves with a spontaneous shudder.
Her mouth moves but not a word or sound does she utter.
I stare at her intently and push her stray hairs behind her ear.
Realising that loosing this woman will be my most dreadful fear.
Her eyes momentarily open just to make sure that I am near.
I was born alone in this world but I live my life in a pair.
She has no idea that I watch her while she sleeps.
Or that I tingle when her newly painted toes brush against my feet.
I often think what my life would be like if me and her didn't meet.
Would she even look twice if we crossed paths in the street.
Her hands move against the pillow as if

Is free will a devout gift or a curse?
Was it free will that granted a desperate man to steal an old lady's purse?
Was it free will that resulted in multiple bodies carried in a hearse?
Was it free will that justified a police officer to shoot the accused first?
Was it free will that allowed a family man's mentality to be so perverse?
Could this world of ours get any worse?
Free will gives us the chance for all of us to be distinctive.
But as a consequence people can act corruptive and vindictive.
But without this choice, our lives would be constrained and restrictive.
Undoubtedly these two differing perspectives are contrasting and conflictive.
Without free will our actions and thoughts would be controlled and predictive.
But with this gift our proceedings maybe considered as harmful and afflictive.
Of course free will does has have it's varied betterments.
This advantage allows us to direct and assert our developing intelligence.
Despite using this intelligence for morally
ImperfectionImperfection3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
She hears all the other girls
They talk about their boyfriends
They talk about their makeup and latest brands
They talk about their perfect lives
She can't help but laugh at their cliques
The boyfriends cheat for a more imperfect girl
The makeup cakes on and the clowns are reveled
Their lives are as imperfect as can be
She watches everyone inside and out
She notices most everyone has an imperfect relationship
She notices most everyone has an imperfect sense of style
She notices everyone has an imperfect life
She sees her life
It may look just like a life full of imperfections,
But having an imperfect story is the only
perfection you can have in life...
MagicA long time ago, when the world was new,Magic3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
and longer than anyone can remember
magic existed in the world.
It healed the sick
and didn't cause anything bad.
Magic was for good
and never harmed the people.
Then one day
a sorcerer broken by pain
and an outcast of society
used his magic
to hurt and cause pain.
He killed with his magic,
and made people suffer
in ways that should never be allowed.
The evil sorcerer went across the land
never sparing a soul and making
curses that could never be broken.
Five of the best magicians were shocked
and banded together
to stop his evil reign over the people.
Nothing the good magicians did worked
and they were faced with a final
completely unspeakable action.
The good magicians joined hands,
bound their power together
and used their life force
to stop his ways of evil.
The evil sorcerer fell,
and after that it was decided
that magic should never be used again
in case someone else decided
to use it the way the sorcerer did.
Now because of pain and a bro
Nothing Gold Can LastNothing Gold Can Last3 years ago in Concrete Poetry More Like This
A long life
Full of frights
Was bestowed unto her
When a trouble
Came out of the rubble
She would stand to fight
Once it was over and done
She would go and sit under the sun
A warm summers breeze
And some pistachio nut ice cream
She may have been poor
But she loved her family all the more
She loved me and I here
Even when she spoke her word
I cannot see
Life without you and me
But I know
She loved us all until she passed
But as was told to me NOTHING GOLD CAN LAST
Be Mine ForeverHold me tight; stroke my hair,Be Mine Forever3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Kiss my lips and twirl me in mid air.
Call me Luv; watch me pray,
Lock me in your arms and caress away.
Sing me songs; brush my tears,
Just let me clutch and my fears shall disappear.
Recite my jokes; and the silly bed-time stories,
Make me accept and bring back the glory.
Be my hope; the one who always inspires,
As you are the one who my heart desires.
Be my strength; show me light,
Watch the stars be aligned tonight.
Show me reality; make me believe.
Else love is the last thing I shall ever perceive.

and dance with the Devil
in the song that never ends.
Let him take your pain away,
think of nothing more than this moment
Come dance with him in the circle
and forget all your troubles
they won't matter anymore.
He just asks for that simple price
I'm sure that you already know.
Come dance with the devil darling
he'll take all your woes away.
Swing in the circle
to the beat that never ends.
Once you take that step
and enter the dance with the Devil
you'll never leave it again.
Sell your soul
and dance that eternal dance
Dance with the Devil
to music's soft embrace.
Sing along with the song that never ends
and just give your soul away.
Nothing shall matter anymore
as you dance with the Devil tonight.
