It was a dark night, raindrops piercing the black sky. The rain had started as a slight drizzle, and Charlie decided a run was not out of the question. So he tied up his running shoes and exited his room. Alex was in the kitchen, staring at the wall. Charlie stayed there for a minute. Just studying the older boy. He felt the butterflies in his stomach make an appearance. He frowned, Alex was just a friend. But lately he had felt awkward around him. But he was straight, right? Charlie was staring into space thinking when Alex noticed him.
"Charlie," he said and the taller boy jumped. "What are you doing?"
Charlie felt his heart rate speed up. "Um, I was just going out for a run."
"Well," Alex replied with a chuckle. "Staring into space isn't going to get you anywhere."
"Yeah," Charlie felt his face flush. "I was just...thinking" he said slowly.

The airport was bustling, filled with people from all around the world hurrying to get to planes on time or pick up loved ones or just to get out of there, so it was no wonder the traffic was terrible. Alex kept impatiently glancing at his watch as the taxi slowly inched forward, at the rate they were going now Charlie's plane will have landed by the time he gets there. The taxi was completely silent, excluding Alex's occasional huffs of impatience. 17 minutes.
The silence was broken by the Taxi driver's gruff voice, "Is it your girlfriend?"
