Poor poor rydry, it took forever for me to sit down and actually complete it. This was the last species I wanted to draw before I moved on to a few other things (I'll get back to xeno animals soon enough!).
Anyway the rydry are quite amazing... whatevers. Not much is really known about them since the only species that has studied them are the greys and since they don't really mingle with other species the level of info on them is quite limited. What is known is they're neither plant nor animal and insanely enough they live in space. Yes, they're one of the few living things that seems to have evolved without a planet or at least hasn't lived on a planet in a a very long time.
Also the similarity to a flying saucer isn't coincidence, greys (which are the people with said saucers) model them structurally based on these lifeforms.
The few little things known about them is they're quite gigantic (see height chart) and those red things are some type of sensory organ. As far as how they survive in space given the lack of nutritional things to eat or how they can be found basically anywhere in space your guess is as good as mine. No one even knows if they could be sapient or not or even how they reproduce or how long they live. They are one of the greatest mysteries of the universe.
As far as designs go obviously its based on a ufo but given some organic elements to make it stand out as obviously not some type of vehicle. Another fun fact is their name: when I made the .psd file for the xeno sheet I just hammered in a jumble of letters like much of us do with art which was rydry. I figured eventually I should use that as an actual alien species named it seemed to fit here!
Entirety and all creatures related to it belong to me
"Shhh. Oh, you'd adapt. Like we all do. Trade the sun for the moon and stars."
Godric: Two thousand years is enough. Eric Northman: I can't accept this. It's insanity! Godric: 'Our' existance is insanity... we don't belong here. Eric Northman: But we 'are' here! Godric: It's not right. We're not right. Eric Northman: You taught me there was no right or wrong. Only survival or death. Godric: I told a lie, as it turns out. Eric Northman: I will keep you alive by force! Godric: Even if you could, why would you be so cruel? Eric Northman: Godric, don't do it. Godric: There are centuries of faith and love between us. Eric Northman: Please, please!... Please, Godric! Godric: Father... brother... child... Godric: Let me go. Eric Northman: I won't let you die alone. Godric: Yes, you will. Godric: As your maker. I command you. Sookie Stackhouse: I'll stay with him. As long as it takes.
So I thought I'd try my hand at a little more precise Darker than Black fan art. This one is of Amber, a.k.a. "February". She's a contractor who can move through time, although at a heavy price. She is one of the characters I greatly admire in the series and thought it would be interesting to draw her.
She appears in the series as different ages, but I wanted to draw her in her adult form, so that's what you get here.
