Had to paint an elite World War I squad that consists of 4 members, a Hero/Leader, Medic, Sniper and a Heavy Gunner. One of them had to be female also.
I didn't like the whole thing at first, but took a liking to it when I was repainting this one.
And this is my first steampunk picture ever, hah.
Anyways, they're an elite german squad. Dietrich, Claudia, Sieghard and Joachim.
Dietrich and Sieghard are childhood friends who went to the royal academy together and scored at the top with their high combat capabilites. Sieghard suffered heavy injuries from a shrapnel round, thus he always covers his face, but that doesn't mean his sniper skills got worse at all. Dietrich utilizes several weapons according to combat situation, effectively acting as an elite commando.
Claudia originally wanted to become a doctor at a hospital in München, but she started working with soldiers, and decided to enlist to become a medic for the army instead. She was personally picked by the commander of the Elite Corps.
Joachim is an already accomplished, highly trained and seasoned veteran with countless victories behind him. He's also a very capable leader, so he has been chosen to lead this small special squad. He's known for using his modified machine gun to deal with whole platoons of enemy soldiers.
The four of them didn't quite get along at first when they met, but as time has passed, they got closer to each other and finally forming this small special task force.
From Anno Astra, a sketch of a couple of League infantry.
The one in the foreground has a 70mm light plasma tube and has his visor down to protect against the flash from firing. The other one with the 6mm infantry coilgun is acting as perimeter security.
The plasma tube is one of the most common man-portable directed-energy weapons fielded by infantry in the 3rd Century AA. In a nutshell, it directs an intense beam of plasma produced by a miniature thermonuclear explosion along a single direction by means of powerful, yet short-lived magnetic fields. Very destructive, yet easily blocked by I-field beam barriers at the usual ranges. The weapon needs to be reloaded after every shot. Firing a damaged weapon is considered a pretty spectacular method of committing suicide.
I've been roaming the interwebs for a while now.....looking for places where i can try to make some sci-fi concepts, didn't matter how.... I just wanted to feel good doing what i like, making possible the vision of those who would comission my work, BUT I've hit the big wall called "making a portfolio so that people could see my earlier work" -a big - and decided that this summer is going to be dedicated to my portfolio making . Going further and further with what I draw....I look back at previous work and don't see them to be at the same height as the last ones. I know every new piece of art you draw will be better than the previous-I know- but bear with me. Luckily, in a few weeks I'll host a concept art workshop with some colleagues. ( got to get a tablet too.....so i could do digital art on my own tablet, I don't like depending on other's stuff >.> ) Hope i can work up on my portfolio while doing that. And i sincerely thank everyone how visits my drawings. ^_^
