SUDORAt long last I have achieved a task I have wanted to complete almost as long as I have been on dA: I went through SUDOR's amazing gallery.SUDOR1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
I faved hundreds of shots so I made a folder in my favourites section for his work.
I am reminded of a quote by Henri Cartier-Bresson after the impressions I took with me from Joël's gallery:
"[photography] It is a way of shouting, of freeing oneself, not of proving or asserting one's own originality. It is a way of life."
Joël Sueur is gracious in sharing such a cornucopia of images covering different parts of his life: from the very intimate to the hilariously funny, and of course his wonderful street photography... it is all full of life! ... and weirdness ...
The life and its doublePerhaps nothing in the art evokes strong feelings and expectations as the word surreal, at the same time perhaps this word encompasses many meanings that in other ways can not be described. Surreal is anything that goes beyond the sensible and observable reality, everything that is outside of reality. But in other terms also describes what remains outside the box in which our mind is accustomed to perceive and categorize the reality. Surreal therefore are other dimensions of reality, deeply touching aspects of the spirit and arcane, of the imagination and the unconscious, of the dream and what is not perceptible with normal senses. The life and its double2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The Surrealism in the art is the style that gives voice to all this, to the very intimate part of the human soul. Artistic movement born in the early 1900s, predominantly in the painting, then moved in other arts such as photography, with incredible results. Even today the works of René Magritte, Salvador Dalí, Max Ernst, Paul Delvaux, Jua

Whilst sipping a cup of tea and pondering what to write for my next journal, I remembered something that happened to me a few weeks ago. I was at a local nature reserve, photographing the beautiful bushland and exploring the landscape - when I noticed some people bush-walking a few meters away. Without thinking, I snapped away and thought they added a very interesting element to my photos, enjoying the peacefulness just like me.
A few minutes later, a man noticed what I was doing and came over to me in a gruff, and asked me why I was taking his photo! At first I was stunned into silence, but then I smiled warmly and told him that I thought the landscape looked so amazing, and capturing people enjoying it was just purely incidental. I felt like I was almost bracing myself for his angry response, but his face softened and he asked me if he could see the photos. Of course I flicked through my camera to show him, and quite obviously you couldn't see any of th
Tutorial Websites Top 3As you might have noticed, our Group loves tutorials and we do everything we can to grow our tutorialbase every day. However, there are many good websites outside of DeviantART that feature some of the best tutorials you can find and this is the reason why we have created this journal - we would want to feature five really good tutorial websites. I'm sure that many of you know these websites but I'm also sure that there are many new members who have just started and don't know much about tutorials. So, its time to start.Tutorial Websites Top 34 years ago in Personal More Like This
Pixel2Life is definitely one of the best and biggest tutorials sites you can find and it has been like this for many years. One of the first tutorials I found were from there and Pixel2Life has almost always helped me. There is also as good news for tutorialmakers from deviantART. You can actually submit your deviantART tutorials there. For that you just need an account and a right category to post your tutorial in. You don

First, I want to thank you all for your participation, it's just incredible. When I started this little contest, I was hoping to receive 20 or 30 entries ! with just this number it would have been amazing ~
But today we currently have 160 pictures, it's... well I'm just speechless. There's no word to thank you enough for your love and support, I'm so touched, you have no idea. Each new picture was so different than the previous one, it was amazing for me to live those 2 months !
You guys rocks !
Second for the jury, we were 2 at the beginning, me and my friend Charlotte (not on DA). But with all those submissions it's impossible to be only 2 to judge. So my friends :iconleel: :iconmarine-chan: and :iconylric-le-troll: are going to help me. 5 persons is great

Marketing Your dA PrintsOh marketing... it's every serious artist's permanent headache. What to sell, how to sell it, who to sell it to, how much to sell it for. While we can't give you the one perfect formula for that, here are quite a few tips on how to market your prints on deviantART and beyond.Marketing Your dA Prints5 years ago in Personal More Like This
Put your best art forward
You may think you want to offer everything you can for sale and that is understandable. However, think again. It's likely that not all works you offer for sale are ones that an art buyer might actually want to buy. Just like a potential buyer has to make a choice of what to buy, a seller is better off specifically selecting what to offer for sale and what not. While the saying "Quality over Quantity" is not a sure way to a sale, it's definitely a good strategy to get there.
It's better to offer only your fewer very best works for sale rather than all of your works.
Think like a customer
Put yourself in the shoes of someone contemplating buying your ar
Did You Know - Manage DeviationsManage DeviationsDid You Know - Manage Deviations1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Especially when you have quite a lot of artworks in your gallery, it can become tricky to manage your deviations and to sort through them.
That's why we have the manage deviations page. You can either access it via the direct link or by choosing "Manage Deviations" from the Submit Menu.
On that page you have listed your deviations & journals. The overview will give you the name, the category it was submitted to, the publishing date and it also lists your sharing options and if critiques and comments are enabled or disabled.
When hovering over your deviation title, you will also get a little preview of that deviation. This helps to know what deviation you are going to edit, when you can't remember what title goes with what deviation.

Official Photographer for the Manitoba Liberals!!!This photo scored me a job as an official photographer for the Liberal Political Party of Manitoba! W00T! I got the official word.Official Photographer for the Manitoba Liberals!!!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Next week I will be doing a photo shoot with a man who is in the running as leader of the Manitoba Liberals - Robert Allan Young. He told me that he wants something new and different and he really admires my work.
He said there are also 50 others in line for photo shoots over the next year and a half.
I'm a little nervous but really excited and eager to get started.
Minutes after I posted this photo on twitter he retweeted it. I said thanks and he said he wants a photoshoot! He said he wants something different and creative and I'm the man for the job. He's been watching my posts for a month or so on twitter. I spoke with him on the phone and its all set! I got the position!

Comment Counts Under Thumbs (Beta Testers Only)
We just released a new feature to Beta Testers that adds more context to the experience of viewing artwork on deviantART. You'll now find comment counts underneath the thumbnails of deviations -- they can be seen when browsing or searching art, and also display in your Message Center. We hope this feature will help bring to light the fact that there is a whole world of activity that takes place behind thumbnails. In some cases, when a thumbnail displays many comments, it can be a trigger to join the discussion. Whi
Earth Day: The Inspiration of the Natural WorldEarth Day: The Inspiration of the Natural World3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Since human beings harnessed the secret of fire the natural world has been seen by many
only in terms of how best it can be exploited of its abundant riches. It’s amazing now to
look upon the desert sands of the Arab lands and know that this place, the cradle of earliest
civilization, was once known as “The Fertile Crescent.” All Europe was once one great forest –
until all those trees were needed to create the naval armadas of dueling empires. Only the
Earth’s natural forces, like earthquakes, have been more destructive and wasteful than humanity.
“The Romantics” were a movement of poets, painters, philosophers and others who launched
the first Great Dissent against the idea of our Earth as being only a resource to be used up.
They sensed the destruction of the

~ The Butterfly Project ~When you feel like you want to cut, take a marker or pen and draw a butterfly on wherever the self-harm occurs.~ The Butterfly Project ~3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Name the butterfly after a loved one, or someone that really wants you to get better.
NO scrubbing the butterfly off.
If you cut before the butterfly is gone, it dies. If you don't cut, it lives.
If you have more than one, cutting kills them all.
Another person may draw them on you. These butterflies are extra special. Take good care of them.
Even if you don't cut, feel free to draw a butterfly anyways, to show your support. If you do this, name it after someone you know that is suffering right now, and tell them - it could help.
I want to gain control over myself. I want to be happy. I want to stop hurting myself and the ones who love me.
I want to stop cutting.
