Luna's Best Night EverIt was the night of the Grand Galloping Gala and Princess Luna was thoroughly flustered. She stood in front of her mirror, pouting at her own reflection. Celestia had gone to great lengths to set the evening up for her, lowering the sun early and helping her to raise the moon and coerce the stars out of hiding so she would have time to prepare herself. She had even taken the liberty of personally greeting every guest on her behalf so that Luna wouldn't have an excuse to escape from the party itself.Luna's Best Night Ever4 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Luna adjusted her tiara and smoothed out the dress Celestia had picked out for her for the fifth time in as many minutes. She frowned a little at the puffy, lacy affair that now adorned her form, all ribbons and silk and crushed velvet with a large, elaborate skirt that made her feel uncomfortable about the size of her flank. When Celestia had told her no bit had been spared to prepare for the gala Luna had been shocked, even appalled by the flagrant misuse of the treasury to fund an event

Rainbow Dash lay on a cloud, head in her hooves, looking out at nothing in particular. She had to keep her gaze down to keep the sun out of her eyes, and ended up pony-watching. Nothing in particular was going on; it was early enough in the summer that the heat hadn't gotten bad, but after planting season. Ponies went about their business in the late morning, a few deciding on an early lunch while most ran errands or still worked. Nothing special at all. At least, until she saw Fluttershy rushing through town with full saddlebags. It was odd enough to see Fluttershy in such a hurry, let alone with her packs. Rainbow Dash decided to see what her longtime friend was up to and took off from her cloud. She easily caught up to her Fluttershy by flying just above the ground.
"Hey Fluttershy. What's up?" she asked, making her flight look casual next to the hurried pony.
"Twilight said it was an emergency!" Fluttershy explained. It really came out more in gasps; Fluttershy was hardly

#104) Aren't bronies and furries the exact same thing? I think it's funny that so many bronies get offended when they're compared to furries. I don't see furries getting quite as offended about the comparison. Hah.
Answer: This is really the million-dollar question: are bronies and furries the same thing? The answer is, awkwardly, a little bit of both. Let's set the cards upon the table: there are all sorts of variables that come into the equation when defining exactly what a brony is. That's the first difficulty; if a brony is merely an adult watching the show, then you can't effectively argue that they're furries by definition just for doing that. If you did, then any parent watching the show with their child, or anyone who watched "Watership Down" or "The Animals of Farthing Wood" as children, or myriad other cartoons about animals, would be furries, which is ludicrous.
Just watching "Friendship is Magic" doesn't create a latent association with furries, despite what s

The Crystal Empire was slowly becoming engulfed in a mass of threatening, black clouds; dark as the deadliest of storms. Screams could be heard all around as the crystal ponies began to panic. Up in the tallest tower in the city, Twilight found herself trapped within the confines of a black-crystal prison, the gems risen up from the ground, blocking any means of escape for the lavender unicorn. Just outside, Spike started to feel nervous. His eyes darted from side to side, his feet moved up and down like two, small pistons.
Twilight started to scramble within the crystal-walled trap, looking for the Crystal Heart with a set of panicked eyes.

Rain dripped loudly against the window of Twilight's library. She was trying to sleep, but couldn't. She knew that Pinkie knew where she was. She also knew that even with the Royal Guard's protection, she was exposed. She tried to calm herself down, but nothing seemed to work. She had read books about the subject of psychology, and knew what she was suffering from, but that didn't help her cope with it at all.
Her fearful reverie was interrupted by three muffled knocks that rang through the house. Twilight sat up with a jolt. She paused, waiting for something to happen. 'Must be my imagination,' Twilight said to herself as she laid her head back down on the pillow. Then the sound came again, three more quiet knocks. "Is someone there?" Twilight called, walking towards the door.
"Twilight? Can I talk with you?" A soft voice spoke through the door. Twilight was already sure who it was, but she s

Beads of cold sweat rolled down Rainbow Dash's neck. The hot ceiling lights above intensifying the anxiety she felt to such a point that she felt as though she was going to pass out. There she was, standing in the middle of Ponyville's largest store. Her eyes were wide, staring at the newest piece of fan-merchandise being sold.
No, it wasn't anything to do with the Wonderbolts.
It was a limited-time offer Daring Do wallet. Rainbow Dash had to keep her mouth shut to prevent drooling. The wallet was grey and had adventurer's face printed on the front, grinning competitively at some invisible foe. She was a force to be reckoned with, even as just a picture. Hilariously, based on how she looked out of the wallet, Rainbow Dash felt like she was the foe- her hero's ruby eyes piercing into her own like arrows in bows, primed to fire.

Later that day Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, dressed in the new gowns that Rarity had designed especially for the Spring Moon Festival, were waiting in the Town Square in the clear and mild spring air for Twilight to arrive with their transportation.
"I thought we were going by air balloon," said Pinkie Pie with some disappointment. The truth was, she loved flying in it every opportunity she could get.
"Now darling," said Rarity indulgently. "That's scarcely a dignified way for us to arrive in Canterlot, all squashed together in that tiny gondola! Besides, it's traditional when travelling to Canterlot to go by coach."
"That reminds me," said Applejack. "I wonder who Twi's gonna get to pull it this time everypony is awful busy at the moment, what with all the spring cleanin' and plantin' goin' on."

Canterlot's silent, evening streets were not graced by the moon's rays, as a thick veil of storm clouds blocked it from view. The calm before the storm was chilling, the entire world holding its breath in anticipation of the first drop of rain.
And when it fell, it came in torrents, crashing over rooftops and spilling into overflowing gutters. A streak of lightning illuminated the entirety of the peaceful capital, the violent rumble of thunder following quickly on its heels.
However, the solitary pony ensconced within the Canterlot Palace archives paid no mind to the storm outside. She'd come to the archives on a mission; a mission of which nopony was to know. If news of this got out, all her careful planning would be for naught.
Her only company came in the form of a single candle, wax dripping slowly into the smooth, brass holder beneath it as time wore on. A pile of books lay sprawled in front of her. Each carelessly tossed aside when it was deemed unimportant to her.

They say that time heals all wounds. But that's not true. Sometimes, time only causes the wound to fester—to become infected and burn with the fire of loss.
I have told this story at least a hundred times. And every time is like opening the wound afresh and pouring salt into it. So now, I write it down on paper so that those who wish to hear the tale may read of it. For I will never tell this story again.
It was the year 1903, and dust roared across the vast farm fields of Missouri. In those days, I was the head of a small family owned farm in a rural community. The summer h

Celestia sat on top of a regal and rich purple pillow on the side of the court away from the large doors that gave entrance to it. Next to her stood the green coated day captain, his posture rigid and his face plastered with a seemingly permanent smirk. On the other side of Celestia was her technically former student Starswirl who now spent his days acting mainly as her adviser and her chief spell maker. The rest of the courtroom was filled with various ponies who stood in various positions, some off to the side to observe while others formed a long line that reached the back of the giant and o

I sat quietly in my seat as the train flew by on the tracks. The train car shook a bit every so often as I looked out the window, the scenery quickly passing us by, not letting me even glimpse its beauty for a first… and last time. As I looked out the window, my hoof on my chin, I saw a slight reflection of myself. I saw myself for who I truly was and I focused on what I was going to do when I arrived in the town. My name is Rough Draft, and this is my story.
As the train ride continued, I dug around in my old saddle bag, the handles so deteriorated they could fall off any second. I got my journal and my old fountain pen, the only thing that I had left in my life that actually meant something. I cracked open the book to the newest page and started writing. I had written the same thing over and over again, over all the pages, changing a word or two every time. I finished and closed the book, placing it back in my bag. It still didn’t sound right to me, like there’s wo

These were the most petite of beams however, not enough to bring true light to those who it passed over but enough to signal the dawn of day. It was these lights that lightened the sky to the shade of the only one viewing them with great wonder, a being with the body of a pony, the wings of a pegasus and the horn of a unicorn while she was none of these things. Shining stared up at the oak door that towered above him. It was a normal door, no different than a typical door one would find inside a house. But given the contents stored away behind it, it had an unusually grand feel to it, and Shining couldn't help but feel dwarfed in its shadow.
The old grandfather clock down the hall let out twelve loud booms.
It was noon. The high sun's rays shone through a nearby window and across Shining's stationary, white frame. It warmed his fur while he kept his blue eyes locked on the door.
His parents always said how the attic held an eclectic assortment of things, from old music records to hardcover books that hadn't been opened since his grandparents lived in the house a decade before.

What a head ache. It was as though Hero's head was being pierced by an iron spike. He rubbed his head, cringing in pain, as he sat up from his bed. Glancing out his window, he could see that he had been sleeping since the fight with Lord Vines. The moon was high and rested over storm clouds that had rolled in while Hero slept. But what happened? He couldn't recall anything after that freak of nature grabbed him with those fleshy tendrils. Maybe some fresh air would clear up this headache.
Hero groaned his way to the front door, his mane of brilliant stars a jungle of bedhead. He opened the fluffy gray cloud door and under a flash of lighting a cloaked mare rushed her head forward, planting a kiss filled with pent up emotion on Hero's lips. He pulled away from a stunned and now wide awake Hero. "Now be quiet and listen my hero." The deep blue mare, fluffed her wings, knocking rainwater out of her feathers. Near the centre of town sat a large tree. It had originally been the town hall during Ponyville's early years. More recently, however, the tree house had become Ponyville's library. It was a place of peace in times of trouble and much to the residents' dismay, it was often damaged. The tree was bathed in the golden light of the morn, making the frost on the leaves sparkle like the stars. These were the same stars that the tree house's sole occupant, the unicorn Twilight Sparkle, had spent most of the night gazing at. Twilight turned over as the sunlight filled the room, trying to catch a few more minutes of sleep before she had to begin repairs on the hole in the ceiling that Twilight's Pegasus friend Rainbow Dash had made the day before. "OK I'm up Tiger Angel!" He yelled back. He opened the door to see the black and orange Pegasus standing there.
"About time. And just call me Angel" she said as they headed to the mess hall. When he walked over to the table where the rest of the squadron was, it was obvious by the looks on their faces Angel had given them the same treatment too.
"How do you like our squadron alarm clock?" Whiteblaze, the squadron commander asked.
"Does she have a snooze button?"
"I think so but it takes a baseball bat to activate it", replied a pink Pegasus with red mane.

#73) My best bro and I have been bronies for a while now. I would never bring up being a brony on purpose to anyone who didn't know. But now we're doing a project in Literature class, and my friend is doing his on how he became a brony. I don't think it's a good idea. In fact, I find it embarrassing. What should I do?
Answer: This is something that seems to happen reasonably often people become big fans of "Friendship is Magic", and then fancy teaching the world to sing by shedding light on it in a class. And while you could argue that older individuals liking the show is an interesting point of observation, it's not particularly academic (not in terms of literature, at least) and so a presentation on it doesn't seem appropriate in general for that type of class.
It might be because I'm in the UK, but I know for a fact that if I presented on MLP in one of my university seminars I wouldn't be taken seriously by the teacher or the students. We tend to do

Twilight broke on the horizon, the sun peeking above tree tops and mountains as it rose. Small rays of light drifted through Twilight Sparkle's bedroom, falling upon her face. As slowly as possible, she opened her eyes and rubbed the sleep from them. Rousing herself, Twilight slipped out of the downy bed that had always seemed much too large for her, and walked to the window to gaze out at the land. It seemed surreal to her, the ruling Lady of Canterlot.
Why me? she wondered, as was her daily tradition. Why did everypony choose me? I never asked for this... this... Rainbow Dash had always told her it was an honor, but she could never bring herself to believe that. Twilight looked out the window, nearly all of Equestria in sight. The land she had been chosen to rule and to protect, and the land that was divided and torn apart.

As soon as they had stopped, a glowing red whip snapped at their backsides from mid-air.

#91) Me and my boyfriend have been bronies from the beginning and we've been thinking about having a kid. We heard somewhere that they can inject animal DNA into the womb in the first few weeks to give the child animal-like features. We think this would be the coolest thing ever but we fear others will frown on it and our beautiful pony child will be looked down upon. What advice do you have for me?
Answer: I think your sources are quite credible. You can, indeed, inject animal DNA into the womb to create animal-human hybrids. That's why you quite often see dog-boys, cat-girls and giraffe-children walking around town centres. It's becoming more acceptable nowadays, but you might want to give it a few more years before you try it out, just to avoid the beast-baby facing ridicule at school. They may have an elephant-teacher, which would help the child feel more 'normal', but if all the class-mates are human, or another form of animal hybrid, it could be difficult for them
