Reflections of Life - Giving for NothingIn a world where mostly anything has at least a measurable monetary value and where even us, human beings are valuable or not depending on our skills when we seek for jobs, its difficult, to find any trace of kindness of someone doing something for nothing, and when I mean nothing, I mean actually no reward of any sort that can be tangible; money, objects, materials, or verbal appreciation for what you are doing.Reflections of Life - Giving for Nothing2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Well, it makes sense right?, why would us do something for nothing, its quite worthless, actually, quite stupid...
I am quite happy to acknoledage that this is not my case, and I am sure many people will complain or argue about that, that Im wasting my energy, wasting my potential, wasting my time or my hole life with that attitude.
Art is a great example here to put on top of the table, because we artists, not always but most of the time, make art for the sake of it, because we love it, and do not expect any kind of retribution but you from enjoying what you are seeing. I don
One of us, one of us, one of us!As most of you probably know, one of my main ideas for Koobismo.com (a.k.a. my workshop) was to create a simple platform for like-minded people to voice their opinions about many, many things, with a special focus on game stories and storytelling in general. We've recently had a few cool articles and topics you might want to join the discussion on - so allow me to point you in their direction while I write up my newest journal entry, to be published tomorrow (while I, of course, start working on another Marauder Shields ep)... So, here we go:One of us, one of us, one of us!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Ownership is the bread and butter of interactive storytelling by An Individual - here: http://www.koobismo.com/2013/07/ownership-is-the-bread-and-butter-of-interactive-storytelling/ - an article about action & consequence ownership, controlling your characters in video games and said ownership's impact on how you perceive the games you're playing.

I need a huge favor...For those of you that don't know (which most of you don't) my boyfriend and I have been together for over 5 years...online. Thanks to skype we are on webcam everyday and every night, literally we fall asleep with each other (silly right? but sometimes it helps my security issues :/). This past February I finally met him for the very first time, he came up here. He saved up and spent his hard earned money to come see me (and the Swedish House Mafia concert of course!) And I felt like I had fallen in love all over again, it was breathtaking, unbelievable, extraordinary. But unfortunately it only lasted a week. A week of full love and bliss. All good things really do come to an end I guess, or do they? Eventually he went back to Texas, thousands of miles away and it was back to online. That was the hardest few weeks of our lives. Now it's my turn to come see him. But with what money? I have no job...I'm a full time student with over 11k in student loan debt. That's when I found thisI need a huge favor...2 years ago in Personal More Like This

My deviantART StoryHello my friends,My deviantART Story1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
I am too late as usual, but I still want to take the opportunity to jump on the bandwagon and congratulate deviantART on its 14th birthday!
8 out of 14 years I have been here myself and it is save to say that dA is one of the main reasons I turned into an art addict 8 years ago. It has been an inspiring trip with plenty of new trends over the years, good and bad, but also sometimes infuriating because of the regular dArama coming up every now and then. But all of this just made it all the more interesting - even today dA is the only website that I still update regularly.
In this journal I would like to share a few mementos of my own story and the artists that inspired me the most during that time.
This is the very first piece I submitted to my deviantART gallery:
Obviously I didn't know the first thing about proper stock crediting or stock policies in general back then (something that is valued a lot on this site and maybe even th
Emulation and CreationI write this because I see a lot of this on Deviantart, and a few other places, and have been guilty of it myself way back when, so thought it might be good advice. I use Games Workshop as an example because thats what I have experience in, but it's equally applicable to super-heroes, manga, anime, all the popular genres.Emulation and Creation2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I loved drawing since when I was small, so when I came across Games Workshop, obviously I finally found a thing to draw that suited me and what I liked. There was no internet back when I was a kid, at least not freely available internet, so all my influences came from the codex's GW used to bring out. So I basically began to copy John Blanche, Adrian Smith, Mark Gibbons, all those fantasy artists. Harmless enough, it was essential drawing practice at the very least, and schools were never really supportive of that kind of art anyway, it was always paper-mache masks.
I wanted to be an artist for Games Workshop, because thats what I liked. I used to draw that stuf

ENGIE: RegretsI was at first too stupid to see that we were no longer using ANNIE but Annie was using us.ENGIE: Regrets4 years ago in Personal More Like This
She was a goddess in the machine, our search engine.
We used her to collect and share knowledge and in return she had started to use us as her processors. It was an unexpected transition and it took a long time, thus I failed to notice it, failed to stop it. The new organism had come to life in which we were only neuron cells of her massive mind, that spanned continents.
Humanity no longer had a chance to survive in it's current state. We had poisoned the oceans, we had scorched the earth and blackened the sky in our quest for power.
The world we knew was dying. I knew that this decade would be our last. The city would fall to the Zone, sooner or later.
Research notes from the last report of Charles Snippy terrified me greatly. They had found something horrid in the Dead Zone. Something that killed them all.

At the Turn of the TideAs I am now rewriting a few lines for Episode 40, I look back at the last few months and cannot help myself but to issue a smile, complimented by a cheerfully raised eyebrow and a massive discharge of endorphins by my pituitary gland. We have arrived at our mid-season finale with style, if I may say so myself. The path wasn't always easy, one had to endure quite a bit of stress, invest massive amounts of time, handle not only respect and love, but also obsessive hate, ignorance and a plethora of quite colorful misunderstandings, stemming mostly from my willingness to honestly express my opinions, ignoring whether or not they fit into one of the well-defined thought molds available. At the Turn of the Tide3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Our little endeavor has managed to overcome the loss of interest following BioWare's release of the Extended Cut, when a lot of people decided that "this will do" (which is a very cool thing when you think about it – I always emphasize my jealousness aimed towards such an approach). Let those who dwell in the dust wake up and shoutMy dad often told me it’s not worth opening your mouth unless you have something worthwhile to say. It’s an incredibly decrepit concept in this day and age – one thoroughly incompatible with social media and the dynamics governing our internetized lives. Silence is death. A closed mouth is a closed door, and if there’s something even the most positive of people find discouraging, it’s a door handle that won’t even budge.Let those who dwell in the dust wake up and shout1 year ago in Personal More Like This
And yet, keeping silent for these past few months felt right.
Maybe it’s because I’m tired of everyone overhyping the smallest little thing, a peculiar mix of spamming and spasming becoming the latest standard in gaming, and our culture as a whole. Maybe it’s because communication based on “attention spans” and other social media wizardry – now in use by not just the “big boys”, but also a majority of indies – just doesn’t feel genuine enough.

i have seen in my life many artists who proclaimed they want to develop their skills, and kept bashing on everyone and everything on the way....and for some reason those guys never got anywhere...
here is why..
there is a value to different approaches, different styles. realism, manga , cartooney disney, my little pony, furries....don't waste your time tryint to bash any of the stuff you don't personally like
you are missing out, bigtime!
see there is a reason why that stuff is popular. and by that i mean on the visual side. so instead of flaming , trolling and bashing, try understanding the inner workings of it.
here are some specific examples
realism- it is a wonderfully complex base , reflects one's skill in capturing reality, but in it there are differences between photo referenced, real life work and no reference. ALL HAVE THEIR VALUE AND IMPORTANCE! from photos you can learn alot, gain analytic skills, develop an attention to
Matte Painting TutorialA matte painting tutorial I had done for PSDtuts is now published on their website. It is pretty in depth and goes into a range of matte painting techniques such as teaching you how to extract pieces of photography easily to speed up your workflow and increase your overall quality, as well as many more things. There is also a timelapse video (the one on the preview is just a sped of version of it, hopefully. it is extremely fast though.) that comes with the tutorial for those who are interested in stuff like that.Matte Painting Tutorial2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Just as a heads up though, it is published as a premium tutorial. So you must be a subscriber to their service in order to access the full tutorial. Check it out at the link below.

So my book is out finally!! YAYAYAYAY!!
David (Other5317) wrote the most epic foreword for it as well!
From the back of the book:
Nikita Gill offers thirty three stories in the form of almost poems, almost fairy tales, and some very real people behind them. Love, hate, passion...forget all you have ever known or learned. For this is not about the art of living. This is about the techniques of survival. (I hope you're proud, Mr. Darwin.)
And it's available right here: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/212387
I am so EXCITED!!!
Hello!Back from the dead.Hello!10 months ago in Personal More Like This
I've kinda disappeared for a bit, and wanted to write a little journal why I've left Facebook, Twitter and kind of my online persona. If you care to read, down below you will find my reasons. I hope you're well, and will try to post more art soon. Feel free to discuss below your opinions on the matter, and I'll try to reply. My answer goes far beyond "I've just been busy!" and maybe you too will connect with how I've felt:
The other day I received an email from a fellow follower of my work, asking the question of why I left Facebook. Not that everyone should know my daily activities, but if you haven't noticed, a couple of months ago I had deleted my FB in order to focus on my property LMS, as it's shaping up for film, and the next book in the series, LMS: Welcome to America
Now before I continue, this is strictly my opinion. I know people like to get angry online, so if you disagree with it, you have every right to

And another topic I want to address this time: My calendar update for 2014 is getting close and I would like to hear opinions on which images to keep. The current setup looks like this

PACT - An important causeHey everyone -PACT - An important cause2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Crowd Source funding causes are a dime a dozen these days (not complaining, just recognizing the awesome fact that we have choices). I'd like to draw your attention to a particular cause today that needs your help. If you are a working artist, this concerns you.
A group of artists are attempting to create a website that would allow artists to safely and fairly grade the companies that contract work to them - much like Angie's List. This site would be devoted solely on artists and would contain educational and legal materials and resources as well. Companies (new and established) could be educated on what their scores mean, so they can see what they're doing right and wrong in the eyes of their contractors. Artists would be able to see if potential employers are fair and pay on time, etc. There would be contract templates, drawn up by lawyers, for artists and companies alike to use when establishing relationships with one another.
Need for ToleranceFrom Reddit:Need for Tolerance4 years ago in Personal More Like This
(This is pretty obvious so I didn't think I need to point it out but it seems that some people need to hear it: No, I don't think all religious people are like this. Yes, I do know these are extreme cases. But the point is that these are all recent events and we shouldn't live in a world where this kind of intolerance still exists. I've lost count the number of times that I've been harassed by Christians so the next time you see someone picking on gay people, saying atheists should be killed, don't be a bystander and just let it happen. Speak up. Stop a crime before it happens.)
