A koobismic interview you might want to check outOh, hi there! Didn't see you coming. Whatcha' doin'? Oh. That's cool... That's Shaft cool. Anyhoo, I just ran down here to give you a quick little update on something you might want to read if you care about my incoherent ramblings and stuff.A koobismic interview you might want to check out2 years ago in Personal More Like This
A while ago I was interviewed by the awesome Emily Breder for her upcoming book. The text of the interview is now available online, on DeviantArt, here: http://abstract1106.deviantart.com/journal/Koobismo-on-the-artistic-life-333748543 ("Koobismo on the artistic life").
Emily asked me about the origin of our little series, about the reasoning behind its creation, about my creative processes and views on various topics, ranging from the challenges of transforming text to multimedia, to the nature of interactions between writers and their audiences. I also gave out a bit of writing advice and shared my thoughts on a possibility of creating my own original series, back when it was a thought that I kept flip-floppily rethinking every
Let those who dwell in the dust wake up and shoutMy dad often told me it’s not worth opening your mouth unless you have something worthwhile to say. It’s an incredibly decrepit concept in this day and age – one thoroughly incompatible with social media and the dynamics governing our internetized lives. Silence is death. A closed mouth is a closed door, and if there’s something even the most positive of people find discouraging, it’s a door handle that won’t even budge.Let those who dwell in the dust wake up and shout2 months ago in Personal More Like This
And yet, keeping silent for these past few months felt right.
Maybe it’s because I’m tired of everyone overhyping the smallest little thing, a peculiar mix of spamming and spasming becoming the latest standard in gaming, and our culture as a whole. Maybe it’s because communication based on “attention spans” and other social media wizardry – now in use by not just the “big boys”, but also a majority of indies – just doesn’t feel genuine enough.
My review of the Citadel DLCThe Citadel DLC is widely considered to be the best piece of DLC of the entire Mass Effect trilogy (yes, it's actually better reviewed than ME2's Lair of the Shadow Broker). Forbes Games called it "The Perfect Goodbye", io9 said that it "Gives Commander Shepard a Glorious Send-Off". And what does yours truly think? My review of the Citadel DLC2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Well, it's never easy with me, is it now?
I present to you my lengthy review of the Citadel DLC, listing and explaining the reasons why it just didn't click for me, why it didn't work as well as it did for most of you guys, statistics be damned. Please be aware that this is but my opinion, nothing more, nothing less - no need to start flame wars because of it.

Personal reasonsOver a year ago a person got very offended by an old comic of mine and wanted to explain to me why it was offensive. When they wrote to me I had long since understood that and deleted it from my own galleries, but they had found it on Tumblr and felt it was important to talk about NOW. At first I didn't respond because a lot of things were going on in my life and I needed to not stress about it, but then they started shouting on Tumblr about it and got more people shouting at me and I finally gave in. I tried to explain to the person what my thoughts had been behind it at the time but that I no longer felt that way, but they kept going.Personal reasons3 months ago in Personal More Like This
At the same time a lot of people were writing me about minor things like if they should move to Denmark or what my opinion was about one thing or another, and I didn't respond to any of those either and some questioned me about it. All the while this person was getting all worked up and wouldn't just take my "I'm sorry but I can't do this right no
Leisl & PoLeisl & Po3 years ago in Personal More Like This
A while back, I had the pleasure of illustrating this wonderful childrens book, "Leisl & Po" by Lauren Oliver. Its finally in stores and now I can show you some of the art inside. It is a unique story about a girl, who is visited by a ghost that tells her her dead father is stuck on Limbo and that only she can help him cross over...
I heard the book has been getting alot of praise from the children's book industry, and I am just happy and proud to be a part of it.

My Book is OUT!!My Book is OUT!!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
So my book is out finally!! YAYAYAYAY!!
David (Other5317) wrote the most epic foreword for it as well!
From the back of the book:
Nikita Gill offers thirty three stories in the form of almost poems, almost fairy tales, and some very real people behind them. Love, hate, passion...forget all you have ever known or learned. For this is not about the art of living. This is about the techniques of survival. (I hope you're proud, Mr. Darwin.)
And it's available right here: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/212387
I am so EXCITED!!!

In the meantime, allow me to bring this here update to your attention. Originally posted on my website over a week ago, it details a few rather sudden (and yet, months in the making) changes to my life that may or may not have some impact on Marauder Shields as well. Here we go, ladies and gents:
"To all the ladders I've ever walked under and all the black cats that I've ignored during my restless strolls: screw you, guys. Just… Screw you in your wooden/furry asses.
So, here we are in 2014, where I suddenly find myself rather unemployed. Although my position has not been officially terminated (yet) and I am fed various promises about backpa
Art4Love, blah blah blah.I'm sure many of you are aware of the Art4Love.com drama floating about. How this Chad Love fellow stole the works of many artists from here on deviantART, including myself, and was selling them for ridiculous amounts of money, claiming they were oil paintings, even shipping them with a certificate of authenticity.Art4Love, blah blah blah.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Anyway, there seems to be some ridiculous responses going around to this. I'm not going to call anyone out by name, but a certain deviant has taken it upon himself to ask for donations in order to hire 'the best copyright lawyer' and pursue a 'class action lawsuit'. This in my opinion is a bullshit move, as any copyright lawyer worth his weight would probably take on something this big and blatant for a percentage with no upfront fees to begin with. It's pretty clear cut copyright infringement on a massive scale.
I personally think this deviant jumped the gun and instead of taking a moment to think about the situation, figured he'd get everyone riled up and paying for his la
Hardcore MEH over Wii-U?As I've said before, one of the things I was looking forward to seeing this E3 was how so-called "hardcore" fanboys will find even more ridiculous ways to dismiss anything Nintendo showcases because they're "too mature" to enjoy something all-age friendly.Hardcore MEH over Wii-U?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Finally Nintendo comes right out and gives pretty much every hardcore gamer exactly what they want, and in return all they get is snarky blog posts, dismissive attitudes, and cries of "foul" if anything casual shows up on the screen. Am I the only one noticing this?
First, hardcore gamers seem to be completely blind when it comes to titles that interest them, instead choosing to bitch and moan about casual games that aren't for their demographic. Listen up, geniuses, if the Kinect and Move haven't opened your eyes up yet, casual gaming is now a viable market whether you like it or not. It's OK to have more than one demographic represented, especially when it's advertising for a brand new console.
Second, the one thing hardcore gamers
Emulation and CreationI write this because I see a lot of this on Deviantart, and a few other places, and have been guilty of it myself way back when, so thought it might be good advice. I use Games Workshop as an example because thats what I have experience in, but it's equally applicable to super-heroes, manga, anime, all the popular genres.Emulation and Creation1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I loved drawing since when I was small, so when I came across Games Workshop, obviously I finally found a thing to draw that suited me and what I liked. There was no internet back when I was a kid, at least not freely available internet, so all my influences came from the codex's GW used to bring out. So I basically began to copy John Blanche, Adrian Smith, Mark Gibbons, all those fantasy artists. Harmless enough, it was essential drawing practice at the very least, and schools were never really supportive of that kind of art anyway, it was always paper-mache masks.
I wanted to be an artist for Games Workshop, because thats what I liked. I used to draw that stuf

OHAYOCON AND HUGE NEWS!Dear Everyone,OHAYOCON AND HUGE NEWS!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I'm truly sorry for the lack of posting in the last 2 months. I have been dealing with some domestic issues that finally seem to be on the way of clearing themselves up. On the bright side this down time has given me time to think. I thought a lot about where the comic is going, and where I want it to go. I want to be more involved in the DA community again and get passionate about my work again. So I started a collaboration with :iconvalhalla-studios: to launch a spin off comic for the fangirls entitled "APARTMENT 401 Y" (the apartment number they all live at) It will be all fangirls all the time with more squeeing than you can shake a yaoi paddle at!

The Ever Evolving Icon
What is it about a fictional character first introduced to the public in Great Britain in 1887 that has kept him being reincarnated, with generationally-correct upgrades, over and over again in film and on television? Who is this literary hero whose portrayal over the past century by such past masters as Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett to today’s vanguard talents Robert Downey, Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch has inspired such a continuing outpouring of fan appreciation?

At deviantART, we have spent the past 11 years building a place where artists can share and discuss their work and get inspired by the work of their contemporaries. A noble cause, for certain, but we would like to be so much more to our beloved community of brilliant creatives. Starting today, deviantART will also be a means of inspiration in an entirely new way with financial support for art.
On 3 month cycles, deviantART will accept applications from artists seeking to fund art-related projects. A panel called the Creative Grants Board will pick those projects that they believe will benefit particularly from a Grant and give those artists the support they need to make it happen. The lucky few who are chosen to receive Grants will also be given a beautiful accolade on their deviantART Profile Page to celebrate their succes
