Here is my entry for the wacom contest.
There are many dreams involved in this piece, mundane dreams that include the ability to do a piece like this, dreams that I would have the technical abilities to do it, and the dream of the piece itself in which we conquer space, we easily go around our system (at least) observing and enjoying views like this.

Shiadhuk

The Shiadhuk is a mysterious legend that is said to one day suck the light of the sun until darkness is all that is left. Nobody knows what the Shiadhuk really is; it could be a shadow, a cloud of darkness, a black hole, or dark matter. A popular belief is that the Shiadhuk eats starlight and that is why its eyes reflect the stars. The Shiadhuk is often surrounded by the souls of dead stars. Either way, it is said that the Shiadhuk would humble the earth in darkness and forever curse it in shadow.

This is one of my submissions to the "Lost Lands" contest.

For this image, I wanted to capture the natural calm beauty of space as well as try to give the viewer a deep space feeling. The feeling of vast openness was my ultimate goal. I also wanted to focus my attention on a primary focal point, the moon. It was a moon i spent tremendous time on, and in the end, the detail payed off. I am very pleased with this outcome!

Not entirely sure about the close planet, may revise it later. May be rotated for use as wallpaper.

Update: Improved the close planet, changed some other minor things.

A team of explorers from Aome set down upon the moon of Senn-Vyvehrr to search through the ancient ruins there. These huge organic structures, which date back to the early days of the Atini Conflict, served as factories within which hundreds of fighting machines were constructed under the orders of 'Rau-Dhossi', the first robot General to lead against the Mesranic Oppression.

This was going to be used for an older Lum pack, but never got past the basic render stage. So I decided to work on it for the 'Beyond the Frontier: Lost Lands' contest.
