New SystemSo, I decided to put my tax refund to good use and build myself a decent desktop gaming/designing computer. I had a budget of $830 dollars, but I did end up going a little above that in the long run. However, I think every penny spent was extremely worth it.New System1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I ordered the parts from Newegg on Monday and surprisingly they shipped from a warehouse just an hour away from my house, so they arrived first thing Tuesday morning. I was so excited, like a kid on Christmas, to open up everything and put it together. The first box I opened was the case, and I bought a case that was supposed to include a power supply (that was a mistake) and they shipped me the case without the power supply. So now I had all these parts and no way to give them power.
I spent an hour chatting with Newegg customer service, trying to avoid having to send the case back to them just so they could send me the new one with the power supply. I didn't feel t

I kind of disappeared 6 months ago. A lot has happened since then. The house I was renting a room in was shut down for violations and the landlord, being the kind-hearted, nice person he is, waited until the very last minute to tell us of this, giving us a whole 7 days to find a new place to live. I was forced to move into a halfway house in Brooklyn and it was an absolute nightmare. I wound up having to stay there for 3 months while I looked for work and dealt with the stress of having a drug addicted, unstable landlord. Two shitty landlords in a row, how lucky am I?
Anyway, I finally found a job. A pretty sweet one at that. I'm working for a company that does sound and video installation for celebrities and other big name clients. It's a very small company, with only less than 15 people on our floor at all times, but I love it. I'm starting at the bottom, working in the shipping side of the office and prepping

As mentioned recently, we’re making a bunch of changes to the new Stash...
If you're new to Stash, find out more about it here: http://devbug.deviantart.com/journal/Stash-215498179
The latest changes: Sta.sh is now a separate section of the deviantART Network - with its own header, and its own look.
Here's a sneak peek!
"Stash" no longer exists on your Submit menu, but instead can be gotten to one of two ways:You can pick "Sta.sh" from your main profile menu.. next to Logout and Settings
Or, you can type http://sta.sh into your address bar
Note: to switch back to deviantART, pick the "deviantART" item from the Sta.sh main menu.
Switching over and back:
Other than that, the Stash functionality remains much the same - Drag and drop your
Art in Contemplation of Its Own BecomingDuchamp finds a discarded urinal. He alters it (by signing a name to it not even his own, but obviously “the artist’s”) and names it “The Fountain”. The most mundane, even off-putting, of objects is transformed by Duchamp into art. He submits it for exhibition and it is rejected. You might say the judges “pissed on” his idea. But the idea was born and persisted. Duchamp insisted the object was art because he as an artist presented it as such. “Conceptual Art” was born.Art in Contemplation of Its Own Becoming1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Join a SOPA and PIPA debateJoin a SOPA and PIPA debate1 year ago in Personal More Like ThisWhat are SOPA and PIPA?
The United States Congress is proposing two laws that address the problem of wide-scale unlicensed distribution on the Internet of motion pictures, songs, trademarked goods, and patented pharmaceuticals.
One of the proposals is called SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and would direct search engines in the United States to block Internet sites outside the United States that are primarily engaged in distributing unlicensed content.Another proposal called PIPA (Protect IP Act) would block websites located in the United States as well. The Obama administration is putting a stop to these proposals. It wants the Internet companies and the content companies to get together and come up with more functional and less destructive solutions.W
