The Literature Community ExperimentThis is a typical example of a BeccaJS shower pondering! The idea of this is to try and bring together as many people as possible all in one journal, but not for the sake of making a big number, but to encourage interaction and share useful tidbits. We often say the "literature community" has drifted apart over the past few years and this is just one attempt to try get people to come back together. It's a little hippy, perhaps a far-fetched idea, which is why I am calling it an "experiment". This could be successful and could be a complete fail- only you guys and your efforts can decide its fate! The Literature Community Experiment3 years ago in Literature Features More Like This

During the month of November each year, Movember asks men across the world to grow a moustache (or Mo') with the aim of raising vital funds and awareness for men’s health issues. Mo Bros are helping to change the face of men’s health by effectively becoming walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November and through their actions and words raise awareness by promoting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health. Together, we are truly changing the face of men’s health.

I hope everyone had a lovely break and are fully in the swing of the New Year!
Now this journal isn't a personal one, despite the title- in fact it is a journal I am challenging all of you to write and all of you to help others write. At this time of year, we've made resolutions and I expect half of you have included "write more" as one of those resolutions. This experiment is to help you fulfil that resolution so by 2014 you are sat here feeling achieved.

Group Therapy : LiteratureSleyf of WritersInk is sitting on Fella's couch for this month's session.Group Therapy : Literature3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
For those of you not familiar with this series, each month we'll be delving into a group that is dedicated to their members and giving back to the dA Community through exposure, hosting regular events and just being an all around awesome place for deviants to settle in and feel welcome.
Briefly, can you please describe what your group is about?
Well, our main goal is to create (and maintain!) an active and welcoming community around literature, not only for the writers, but for those who read it too. We understand that the best way this can happen is to encourage feedback and interaction amongst our members. We're not just a group there to feature work, we love members of our community who contribute and comment regularly on the work of others and when we see this it makes us happy because that is exactly what we want happening. We we

Breaking in to Lit!IntroductionBreaking in to Lit!4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Literature has long been considered one of the closest knit communities on deviantART. As a result, some people find it difficult to "break in" to the Lit crowd. There are rumors of elitism, difficulty in getting exposure, and lack-luster appreciation for the incredible work that goes into writing a good piece of prose or a well structured poem.
If you look at a painting you can see amazing detail, great use of color, and the importance of the subject immediately. You know it came from the artist's imagination and that he or she had to spend hours translating that to a canvas. The tangibility of the work is right in front of you. With writing, it is not quite the same. The effort the author puts into the work can only be appreciated if readers put in their own effort to read the work. The gratification is not instant, which is one reason the lit community is so close knit.
Those who do have large followings often also comment and read quite a lot of work h

This month we are proud to feature SleentheBeast. Sleen's gallery is full of poetry, prose, and even some visual art you'll be sure to find compelling! He offers a truly unique perspective and presents his ideas in a way that is both clear and descriptive. Each poem and story he writes is as exciting as it is meaningful, making every read one to remember.
Filled with imagery that is both elegant and sinister, this bewitching poem will make the reader hold their breath until the last word.
This short piece grabs the reader with the opening line and continues to pull them along to the end, leaving them considering a great message that perhaps they had forgotten: It takes strength to heal.

The Synergy program is designed to provide our members with somebody they can count on for help and readership. Instead of a critique folder which is constantly overloaded, and too few, too tired critics to manage it, we'll have our members critique and help each other. The goal is officially to establish a working relationship between two members which both can benefit from and use to realize their full literary talent, but unofficially we'd like for our members to become friends as well.
How does it work?
Members sign up by taking a vow to participate in the interests of personal and community growth. Participants are then assigned in pairs according to mutual interests and literary styles, and each person in a pair will act as a mentor and guide to the other. Participants will be responsible for critiquing their partner's work, and helping with editing and inspiration. Every month, pairs will take part in a club project or contest designed to test t

I would have added more, but I would never have gotten any sleep at the rate I was going. Ahem. So I've been feeling the itch to post news articles on these writing blogs again, but I'm not sure whether there's enough interest for me to start doing them again.
