"Everypony, remain calm so as to allow our fair city to be efficiently defended!"
Even given its volume, Shining Armor's request fell on deaf ears. Unicorn citizenry either shivered in corners, or ran in all directions in an attempt to make themselves scarce from the chaos that was downtown Canterlot.
Meanwhile armored pegasi flew about, combating household objects which had become animate--brooms, mops, pantries, and even ovens which had learned to put their super-heating abilities to malicious use.
A squadron of fifty unicorns, led by Shining Armor and Princess Cadance, rushed to the scene of greatest commotion. While weary from preventing casualties for the past hour, they were still fueled by adrenaline granted through the will to prevent even more.
And at that scene, they found the source of the chaos--quite literally, in fact.
"Discord! It is you! I didn't believe it at first," said Shining Armor. He looked around. "Even when Celestia told me the legends of your

Twilight Sparkle hadn't run this fast since she was a filly.
She rounded the spiral stairs of Canterlot Castle, gasping and desperate, until she reached her library workshop. Her chest heaved and hurt from the nonstop running, but she pushed it aside to concentrate on the task at hand.
They'd called her mad. They'd said she was depraved. They'd said she was messing with powers beyond her reach.
Unfortunately, for once, it seemed that "they" were right.
Wasting no time, she willed several books off of the massive shelves. They opened and spun around her. Twilight's eyes were lightning, moving across several turning pages in mere seconds. Her mind moved almost as frantically.
It should have worked, it should should have worked, it should have worked! None of this should have happened! I checked everything! I dotted my Is, crossed all the Ts, carried all the ones, seriously what happened here-
"There she is!" she heard a voice cry out from the hallway.

Five seconds? Five minutes? Five millennia?
It didn't matter. There was no past, no future. Only the flames.
Oh, there was the light too! A light that came from everywhere! But mostly there was the flames.
Twisting, flickering, burning at her very soul. The pain was immeasurable, but it had always existed, as far back as she could remember, and she could remember a long time.
Or maybe she could... It was somewhat hard to measure time when there was nothing for her to measure it against. There was only the flames, eating away at her, yet never making her any smaller. Forever burning, the fire was all that existed.
Her body was... Wait, did she even have a body? Maybe she did at some point. At least she thought she did. Maybe she did. She hoped it was a nice body, one with a soft mane and maybe some nice friends to go along with it. Oh! And a name! She remembered that she had had a name at one point. It was a pretty name too. She had liked her name! She wished she

The Crystal Empire was slowly becoming engulfed in a mass of threatening, black clouds; dark as the deadliest of storms. Screams could be heard all around as the crystal ponies began to panic. Up in the tallest tower in the city, Twilight found herself trapped within the confines of a black-crystal prison, the gems risen up from the ground, blocking any means of escape for the lavender unicorn. Just outside, Spike started to feel nervous. His eyes darted from side to side, his feet moved up and down like two, small pistons.
Twilight started to scramble within the crystal-walled trap, looking for the Crystal Heart with a set of panicked eyes.

Bathing in prismatic light
Awaking free at last
Able to move on my own, I'm back in control
Only blurred memories left
Glimpses of the past
In my dreams I still walk the surface of Moon
I saw my home
From where I stood
What once was my home
From my thousand-year room
Isolated on the Moon
Locked within the abyss of time
A voice echoed in my mind
A shadow reflecting life
Resentful thoughts enslaved my soul, my heart
How did it wish to break free
Torment the world once seen
How did I wish it to leave my soul, my heart
Long years alone
Friendless and cold
Alone with my thoughts
One tormenting soul
While my spirit roamed the Moon
Locked within the abyss of time
So warm it feels to walk on earth
So much it heals to see living world
So much it calms to meet loved ones

Chapter 4: A day at the beach
Being a member of the weather ponies wasn't an easy job although most of the ponies didn't know it. For most citizens it was only natural that the sky was already prepared for the daily weather when the sun announced the beginning of a new day. Moreover pushing fluffy and light clouds or bringing little rain clouds didn't look difficult either for them. It seemed trivial and so most ponies didn't even pay much attention to the sky and when they saw Rainbow Dash napping they just thought the Pegasus mare was being lazy again. The truth however was the completely opposite.
Although the main weather for all of Equestria was planned by the weather factory in Cloudsdale each country had to made their own plans of how to organize the weather of their country. Sunny days, a little storm and even rainbows had to be planned and organized by the captain of each country's weather team. For Ponyville this task was part of Rainbow Dash's job. At the beginning of

Canterlot's silent, evening streets were not graced by the moon's rays, as a thick veil of storm clouds blocked it from view. The calm before the storm was chilling, the entire world holding its breath in anticipation of the first drop of rain.
And when it fell, it came in torrents, crashing over rooftops and spilling into overflowing gutters. A streak of lightning illuminated the entirety of the peaceful capital, the violent rumble of thunder following quickly on its heels.
However, the solitary pony ensconced within the Canterlot Palace archives paid no mind to the storm outside. She'd come to the archives on a mission; a mission of which nopony was to know. If news of this got out, all her careful planning would be for naught.
Her only company came in the form of a single candle, wax dripping slowly into the smooth, brass holder beneath it as time wore on. A pile of books lay sprawled in front of her. Each carelessly tossed aside when it was deemed unimportant to her.

Five more minutes until Orion's birthday party. Under normal circumstances, ponies would be expecting their guests to be fashionably late, but those ponies obviously never met the Pie family. Looking at the clock, Andromeda knew that the moment the large hand hit the "12," Berry and Cherry would be at the door.
They couldn't help themselves. Partying was in their blood as well as their upbringing. Andromeda figured any filly raised by Pinkie Pie would be that way. Waiting at the door, Orion and Andromeda smiled and readied to scare their friends in an unexpected welcoming. The twins were renowned for their sneakiness and pranks, so it was time they pulled one on them. Time slowed down as the final seconds inched their way up the clock's face. When the last second hit, the two unicorns threw open the door.
"Gotcha!" they yelled in unison before settling down at the empty sight in front of them.

Life is a risky business and not for the faint of heart.
A lonely sparrow glided on thermal eddies created by the last few rays of the setting sun, in its endeavor to catch a passing insect that inhabited the rocks of its mountain home. Chasing an elusive midge, the plump bird flew over the crest of its rocky home and found itself flying over the golden spires of Canterlot, the royal city of the Alicorn sisters. With its intended target in plain sight, the small bird chased its prey down into the city below. Dodging towers, lampposts, and the strange four-legged creatures that lived there, the sparrow slowly gained on the unfortunate insect. Finally catching the midge in its beak, the plump bird unknowingly lit upon the windowsill of Canterlot's Royal Library to enjoy its

#97) I am an open brony with everyone, except my parents. I'd tell them, but my dad will not approve. He even disapproved and called me gay when I was really into "Phineas and Ferb". Imagine if he found out [about "Friendship is Magic"]! There's no way he would approve. But I want to buy merchandise, shirts, and other stuff. So what do you think I should do about telling my parents?
Answer: Your dad sounds like a royal prick. I don't know what his upbringing was like, but your sexuality isn't defined by watching a simple TV show. "Phineas and Ferb" might be geared towards an audience younger than yourself, but I'm not sure why it would be considered, in his eyes, to be 'gay'. I think he might be getting mixed up between watching something that's distinctly effeminate and watching something that targets kids in general. If anything, "Phineas and Ferb" is a show pitched at boys (although, naturally, it does have universal appeal) and so I can see why you'd be worried about

"Oh, what a pity," Prince Blueblood said aloud, laying wide awake in his bed, "She was such a beautiful young mare." Prince Blueblood had been unable to get any sleep that night due to the fact that he was simply unable to remove Rarity from his mind.
Prince Blueblood lay still for a long while. Finally he threw the sheets off of his bed and stood up to leave. "By Celestia, I am going to get NO sleep just laying here trying to forget her," Blueblood said rather loudly.
Prince Blueblood stomped over to his window, mind filled with anger and Rarity. From the window, he could see everything going on in Canterlot, and not just that. “I can’t believe you didn’t tell me, Twilight!” Rarity chided jokingly as the brisk mountain air blew through her mane. “If I had known exactly why Hoity-Toity had asked me to meet him, I would’ve come much more prepared!” she squealed excitedly, looking off of the balcony over the city of Canterlot.
“Well, at first I wanted it to be a surprise,” Twilight replied with a broad grin, “but then I sort of forgot about it.”
“I suppose that’s forgivable,” Rarity responded, lifting a teacup to her lips. “You don’t get quite as excited about these things as I do, and you have been busy lately. Elbows off the table, Sweetie Belle!”
“Awww...” the filly pouted.

It was rather late, although that could mean little depending on what emergency may or may not be occurring. Everything else sounded quiet, however. And the window was quite high, anyway. Not easy for many people to get to, although Finn could reach it, with Jake's help. Not to mention the Ice King. Ugh.
She didn't have to wonder long. The window slid open, revealing Marceline perched on her windowsill. "Hey, Bonnie," she said.

Bucky's eyesight remained blurry as he looked around, desperately hoping to find something or somepony who could help him. He was in a room of some sort, but felt too nauseous to tell whose it was. His chest heaved with difficulty with each gasp of air becoming more shallow than the last while something clung tightly on his throat. His hoof grasped his neck to feel his Cutie Mark Crusader's cape. He had forgotten that he had put it on, but now it was choking him. Grasping at the knot, he tore it off, flooding oxygen into his lungs. He coughed loudly and painfully, gasping for a while before he sunk his head back to the cold floor. Taking the moment to catch his breath, his green eyes darted around, searching his surroundings. He was inside a small warm bedroom, not the cool basement where he once was. Stuffed animals surrounded him from all sides, their glass eyes watching his every move and motion an

Luna wasn't sure where she was or how she got there, but everything was on fire. She was seeing nothing but flames as they hugged themselves to the buildings and trees. Burning away thatch roves and greenery. She could hardly breathe, and the smoke was hurting her eyes as well. The sky was pitch black in hue. She trotted forward, both to get out of the blaze and to try and find any survivors. She realized her royal vestments were gone for some reason. She was momentarily distracted by this as her ear twitched. Somepony was calling in the distance. It sounded like they were in danger. Chapter 1 - The Darkest Night
Princess Celestia walked through the hallways of the massive Canterlot palace. Despite its confusing layout, she never got lost, having lived within its walls for over a thousand years of her immortal life. The old stone walls could become monotonous and confusing to inexperienced visitors, but the Princess had learned to notice the subtle differences between the hallways. The different colours and the different decorations stood out to her.
She turned a corner, passed by a door flanked by two guards, and found herself before two more doors. One, to her right, was white, yellow and emblazoned with a radiant sun. The other, to her left, was black, blue and had a beautiful crescent moon painted upon it.
Smiling, she turned to the door on the left and tapped her hoof against it. There was a moment of silence, and Celestia was about to knock again when she heard a voice on the other side. "Come in!"
The Princess lightly pushed the door open and tilted h

Tom lay back in his couch and let out a sigh, breath laden in beer, eyes so heavy he felt the world champion bodybuilder would have a difficult time keeping them open. The moonlight streamed through the Venetian blinds, cascading across the television as he stared at it, the images of little cartoon equines flashing on the screen. He looked at the clock. 11:30. Late enough where he should have been in bed, yet early enough where he didn't feel the least bit drowsy. He cursed his many late nights in college, watching movies, playing drinking games with his friends. It was his own fault, such was the story of his life.
He looked to his right. A framed photograph, showing the grinning face of himself and his family. Wife, Ashley, and daughters, Kelly and Sandra. A smile slowly crept onto his face as he looked into his daughter's eyes. So pure and imaginative- what he'd give to see them again. Alas, one drunk driver and a flipped va
