My Original Species Contest! WINNERS!*Blows a tremendous fanfare*
After a long month, the contest is now at an end. I would like to thank everyone who participated, and everything worked out so nice that nothing would make me hesitate from holding a contest in the future :3
Keep in mind that everything you see in the contest folder SHOULD be an open species, the same goes for the winning species. So remember if you see anything you like, please go to the reference sheet, make your own and I will happily put it in the personal OC/featured/favourites/misc folder, whatever you want!

THIS Is just AMAZING! This tells so much more than just action, it tells us about what the characters are like, and you did a amazing observation of my characters to be able to pull this off. Atom is a rascal and he is a badboy which ive tried to draw him as, and this just hit the nail so perfectly xD I can feel the frustration of the other characters trying hard to get that apple while Atom just grabs one not bothering to help haha! Totally deserved the first place! xD And also the characters showing diffrent feelings is amazing! 8D congtats winner of 3000
2nd place winner!
SDFSD Such a creative amazing idea! xD I love the idea behind this one! And that they are ending up scaring the "scariest" character of them all haha! Brilliant! And I love the idea of using Sokkens jellyfisht
American Internet Censorship Bill Part 2Yesterday I posted a journal about my thoughts on the American Internet Censorship Bill that was being voted on by the House of Representatives. Within minutes of me posting I found out that the bill was defeated by a majority vote (though a very close one). So for now our precious internet is free once again, but it also raises an entirely different discussion...American Internet Censorship Bill Part 24 years ago in Personal More Like This
A lot of the comments I saw on the various websites I went to dealt with upholding the true definition of "freedom" on the internet. It was quite apparent that a lot of people who were upset at the idea of internet censorship were more or less concerned that they might have to be held responsible for their bad behavior online.
See, we all participate in illegal activity online. If you've ever downloaded a movie, or used a torrent, or uploaded images that weren't your own, or played an emulated NES game, or even uploaded video clips from a TV show to YouTube... you're technically participating in illegal activity.
American Internet Censorship BillA lot of people want me to talk about this to help bring awareness to what's going on. Apparently there's a potential bill that's going to be voted on in the Senate that would allow companies to "blacklist" websites in America if content is found to be stolen or pirated.American Internet Censorship Bill4 years ago in Personal More Like This
From what I understand it's pretty broad in it's definition (which is never a good sign for success) and under the new bill if a company simply filed a report, even if there's no evidence or proof, the offending website would be blocked by internet service providers by law. This is a grossly oversimplified explanation, of course, and you can read more about it here: http://americancensorship.org/
This has a lot of people really scared that their favorite websites, such as DA or YouTube, might get blocked.
Honestly I don't have any faith that this bill will pass. And even if it did, the moment it gets brought up before the supreme court it'll be decided that it's against the first amendment on free speech and be disband
The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart. The Echo chamber dilemma2 years ago in Personal More Like This
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.
And this is becoming a growing problem, I think, because n

Bla bla bla. Independence. 1776. America. John Adams. Hooray.
So there's been this "internet declaration of independence" that's been going around the web recently, and to be honest I think it's a load of bull. As much as I love free speech and rights and etc, I simply can't get behind it, and it disturbs me that so many companies ARE getting behind it. There's just too much entitlement from people on the internet who think they "deserve" everything, and it's really beginning to creep me out. I'm all for abolishing SOPA and ACTA other things like it, but I just can't in good faith get behind the "internet declaration of independence." Sorry.
What's with this weird anti 4th of July backlash that's going on? All the people complaining about the "patriotism" and stuff. I know it's always existed, but I've never seen it this massive before. Do people really just not understand the point of holidays? It's lik

Anita Sarkeesian's first video in the much ballyhooed Tropes Vs Women in Video Games has finally been released. The verdict? Acceptable. There's really nothing that offensive in the video at all, as it's mostly just a history of the "Damsels in Distress" trope and how it's used in video games. It's fact based and fairly interesting to watch.
The only two criticisms I have are as follows:
1. As someone who's done a LOT of research into the making of Donkey Kong (primarily for the short Flossed In Time storyline that I illustrated for Brent and Dan http://www.brentalflossthecomic.com/fit/?id=1 ), I can say without question that her info about how Popeye came to be turned into Donkey Kong is wrong.
Donkey Kong came about because Nintendo of America's president Minoru Arakawa placed a large order for Radar Scope, a popular Japanese game). By the time the game arrived in New York, months had passed and in
SOPAA few months back I wrote a journal about an internet censorship bill that was looking to be passed in the congress. The bill was poorly written, but the broadness of the wording freaked a lot of internet dwellers out. People were scared their favorite websites would be censored or removed completely. Thankfully the bill didn't pass. Unthankfully a new version is going up for vote now and this time it's getting far more support.SOPA4 years ago in Personal More Like This
SOPA = Stop Online Piracy Act
Once again it's very broadly written and could have very serious implications if it gets passed. The bill is written with the expressed purpose of being able to take legal action against online piracy in foreign markets. It seems likely that the bill is meant to snub out piracy sites like ThePirateBay.org, but the wording is so broad that it's very possible that it could have serious repercussions elsewhere.
Yesterday the bill was supposed to be voted on, but it was delayed due to a filibuster. It's currently set to be voted
Thanksgiving Note Project 2011... begins now!Thanksgiving Note Project 20114 years ago in Personal More Like This
For the past three years, "some guy" by the username of wreckling has organised the Thanksgiving Note Project. It has steadily gained more participation as the years go along, and last year there were over 200 participants.
What is this?
It's simple! It's a project organised on the occasion of Thanksgiving. Is there anything you feel thankful for? All you have to do is send me a note and tell me what you are thankful for. It can be a single word, a line, a paragraph... you can be thankful about a small thing or a big thing... all of it counts. Anybody can participate. You don't have to be in the States and you don't have to celebrate Thanksgiving in your country.
What should my note look like?
Here's an example of what your note should look like.
When can I send my note?

Predictions + Wii-U infoOn Announcing New ConsolesPredictions + Wii-U info3 years ago in Personal More Like This
This is how it always goes. You announce your console at E3, then the following E3 you set a release date and it comes out. Since neither Microsoft or Sony announced a new console that means the earliest they will will be E3 2013 and the earliest still that the 720 and Ps4 will be released to the home market will be 2014.
Also it should be pointed out that the Ps4 will not be a power house. Sony has already confirmed that they aren't going to make the Ps4 a beast of a machine, having learned their lesson from the Ps3 which was too expensive at launch and wasn't able to compete against the Wii's price point and the 360's head start. Besides, at this point, graphics can only go so far and instead newer ways to play are what are going to decide the fate of the next gen console systems (as the Wii-U is already showcasing).
Microsoft has already confirmed as well that an updated Kinect device will be part of their next consoles too, so it's unlikely that th

Trying to figure out the Zelda timeline has been a geek pastime for decades, and it's only been made more desirable thanks to Nintendo releasing cryptic responses of both "yes we have one" to "no we don't" over the years. With the caveat that this might all be bunk because it's too early to tell just yet, here is how Nintendo sees the Zelda timeline: http://wii.ign.com/articles/121/1215301p1.html
First up you need to understand one thing... there IS a split in the timeline thanks to Ocarina of Time. Yes the split timeline theory IS correct... sort of. What you probably didn't know is that the split isn't into two alternate timelines resulting from the different endings... but actually THREE timelines. Let me explain...

Design it! A church / war-themed pokemon
War Nurse pokemon
Brick Wall / Turret / Tower pokemon
War monument pokemon
Nun / Acolyte pokemon
Imp pokemon (not evil just mischevious)
Grave / Zombie pokemon
War Ghost pokemon
Cannonball / Cannon pokemon
Wedding bell pokemon
A flower pokemon that visits graves and cries over them - it could be a poppy (which signify remembrance)
The nurse / nun could be similar to ralts/gothita line, slightly humanoid wearing generic long loose clothing.

It's very easy to install (just replace the two files "minecraft.jar" and "minecraft_server.jar" located in your minecraft folder with the ones you download from the link above) and it allows you to view the minor tweaks and updates Notch and Jeb are adding. I'm sure you all know this stuff far better than I do, as I am very late with becoming a Minecraft fan. First off one of the biggest improvements I encountered was improved enemy intelligence. Previously if an enemy saw you they'd basically move towards your direction with no regard to the terrain in front of them, to the point where they could blindly fall into a hole and accidentally kill themselves. That's been changed and now the mobs won't fall into holes and will actually try to

My Thoughts On #GamerGateLast night I said something incredibly stupid on twitter about GamerGate. You see, someone had decided to send child pornography pictures to Anita Sarkeesian through twitter, and I made a comment equating the act to GamerGate sympathizers. That was incredibly wrong of me to do and it was quickly pointed out to me how wrong it really was. I rightly apologized and then something happened that I’ve never had happen to me in my 10 years of being on the internet... people didn’t dwell on my mistake and actually started to provide me with lots of helpful information about GamerGate! That really took me by surprise since I am so use to having every slip-up and mistake held against me forever. It was enough to make me realize that perhaps I have been wrong about the GamerGate movement being created to silence women in gaming. My Thoughts On #GamerGate10 months ago in Personal More Like This

All of them.
All the way back from when I was 13 and I couldn't spell for shit.
And I sort of skimmed all the journals too, it was interesting.
For so long all I've wanted was to get to Senior year and to get out of this house and now I'm here but all the reasons I had and the goals I had have changed.
I used to post journals all the time just to talk about friends or to share things I found interesting even though nobody really paid attention back then and it's just interesting to see how I've grown up and how I lost contact with so many people either years ago or really recently and I got all nostalgic.
And I kind of miss it but at the same time I'm happy to finally be at this point in my life and with how things have turned out for the most part.
(There isn't really a point I'm getting to, this is just a ramble)
It's just odd having had the same goal for so long and the goal is the same but everything around it change

Me two weeks ago: "Man, I just learned about yet another person who stole the Pony Creator so they could slap a bunch of ads over it. I'm just so angry and frustrated. I worked hard on the game and made it available for free without ads online, but greedy assholes keep stealing it so they can make money off my hard work. This is making me feel super terrible, and I'm tired of feeling terrible every time I think about the Pony Creator. It was a good game, and I should feel proud of it. I'm going to try to do something about it! Yeah!"
Most of the internet: "Where's v3???? Just put it back up!! Who cares about thieves? You're being selfish! Get over yourself!"
Me now: "...Wow."
A very large reason why I just gave up on improving the Pony Creator is because I really do have an instinctive stress response when I so much as think about it these days. Between the semi-constant demands

The Derpy Issue Part 2It's come to my attention that Hasbro has, indeed, changed Derpy. In the iTunes version of "the Last Roundup" where she finally talks and Rainbowdash says her name, Derpy no longer has "derpy" eyes (although they do seem to occasionally be crossed), has a different voice actress, and Rainbowdash doesn't say her name. Sadly I can't get behind the bronies on this one. You guys screwed it up for the rest of us and I have no sympathy for your plight. Hasbro is entirely justified in their position as a corporation to protect their properties from perceive negative perceptions, and that would never have happened if we as a community hadn't thrown such a tantrum over a non issue.
You see, a couple months ago a few fans saw something "suspicious" and made a big deal over it without doing any research. Soon, the entire internet was throwing a big crybaby hissy fit over exaggerat

Perception on the InternetYour average user on the internet can generally say whatever they want about an issue. It's alright to voice an opinion because no one is really going to track you down and attack you for having one (unless you're doing it in a really really public place like a forum or chat room). However, as I've become somewhat popular online, I've noticed a perception from people that I must maintain a neutral and unbiased outlook at all times on every issue.Perception on the Internet3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Regardless of what that issue is I'm not generally free to express my opinion without first listing a whole bunch of qualifiers for "why" I feel this way, or by making it very clear that it's OK for you to disagree. You are not allowed to "sum up" an experience, and it's greatly discouraged for you to generalize. I've notice that this mentality has greatly affected my writing style as it forces me to tip toe very carefully around every issue I address.
Using my most famous example: I am not allowed to say that I enjoyed Metroid: Othe
