These are the two reindeer I made recently. I had never had two bucks at the same time to make a photo like this with. Well, two of the same species. There are two antler designs, personally I like the one on the left the best. The right one is bigger and has more details, but it is way to bulky and so I probably will stick to the other design. I ran out of cream yarn so the noses are white. :/ It distracts me but oh well. I really like the fluffy necks, I looked at a lot of reindeer and caribou to try to get a workable design. A lot of the reindeer I saw were white or very pale so its sort of a mix between the two. I wanted the noses to be cream but I ran out so really that's the only thing that bugs me. The next versions will have better noses.
Here is the latest horse. It was sort of a spur of the moment thing. I tried to make him sleeker and longer compared to the Clydesdale body type I have. This is made with the same yellow as the giraffe was. His neck looks super long here I will have to take a few rows out of the next version. I always make them too long in fear of having a stubby neck. I just happened to have these 3 colors in the same brand of yarn. Modeled after Spirit from the movie.
Say hello to one of 3 big reasons I haven't posted anything in forever.
This is my entry for the Vanna's Choice contest. Dorothy is about 15 inches tall, has jointed arms and legs, and uses just about every ninja yarn trick I have in my arsenal. She is entirely crochet except her dress, which uses a knit 2x2 fair isle to create a gingham sort of pattern.
Toto was a complete afterthought. With While setting up to take pictures (with only 3 hours before the deadline, mind you), my sister said, "You need a Toto." I said, "GAAAH I NEED A TOTO!" and made the fastest amigurumi I have ever made.
"Sherlock, that's an awfully large cat, shouldn't we be alarmed...?" "Domestic cat, John, there's nothing to be afraid of. Just don't make yourself look too... cushy." "What?" "We should probably inch away slowly." "No what do you mean, 'cushy'?" "John, it's heard us, we should go before we're napped on."
AKA my older kitty, Neptune, in a rare photographical sighting. And yes, she will sleep on the husbands them if I leave them lying there in the sun. Doesn't matter if the rest of the sofa is bathed in sunlight and covered in fluffy fleeces or my jackets or nothing at all she will ALWAYS SLEEP ON THEM. Not that I blame her, I mean I'll wake up mornings to find I've bypassed my pillow and have wound up sleeping on them, too....
