Crochet Artists, You Want HOW Much?
Ladies and gentlemen -- artists -- gather 'round, as we are going to discuss that hot-button topic nobody loves: How to price your crocheted goods. Aside from the obvious topics, such as materials cost, we will also be covering the subject of how you refer to your work, yourself, and your customers. It is my endeavor here to touch on all aspects of crochet creation, to enable you to accurately price your items and convey that the price is fair.
How do you, as a crocheter, define yourself? How do you refer to yourself to yourself and to others? Does it matter? Let me ass

The properties are:
Lets see what can we do with these new fancy stuffs!
What does these attributes do?
1) content--> it is used to insert generated content in your HTML (Journal body for DA). Don't worry, don't worry! I'll tell you what is this "generated" content!
2) counter-increment --> it is used to insert numbers (or counters) to sections or sub-sections. I'll explain what "sections" and "sub-sections" are don't worry again!
3) counter-reset --> it is used to reset the counters
All these 3 properties are generally interlinked and are used together. But the "content" property can be used alone and has some cool usage.

A few days ago Elocutionists received a huge helping of prize donations for an unnamed contest the likes and scale of which have never been seen on deviantART before. What is it, you ask?
It's a slam. A poetry slam. And it's Louder Than dA Bomb.
A poetry slam is a "no holds barred" spoken word competition. Poets are encouraged to alliterate, rhyme, shout, whisper, zing, compliment, parody, satirize, improvise, recite, quote, play with words and even sing if the opportunity arises.
For the longest time the Elocutionists team have wanted to hear the roaring voice of literature, and this month we don't want to hear just any spoken word for a chance at prizes— NO! We want to listen to a writer's passion, emotion, and drive to keep being who they are; their inspiration to keep writing as they will and we want to hear you que

Some General Tips for Selling your Photos...that we sometimes seem to forget. Some General Tips for Selling your Photos2 years ago in Personal More Like This
As a sports photographer, I'm actually a freelancer and I work independently for multiple teams. I do not work for a paper or a magazine and, as a result, my gear is neither supplied nor insured by them. Not only do I foot the entire bill for very expensive equipment, but I'm responsible for repairs, and the gas and the car or the airfare and the hotel to get to any event I plan on shooting. I'm also responsible for my own medical care if I get sick or hurt, my own food, everything. It's expensive and if I don't make money off of this then all I end up with is an obscenely expensive hobby. Yes, my most significant clients are the teams, leagues, and publications...but guess what? They're not my bread and butter.
Hit the Pavement.
I don't know about you guys, but the term "hit the pavement" when used as an expression around here means to be proactive about finding work. For me, thi

Our interviewees today are faestock, Tasastock, and SenshiStock.
1. Is an expensive camera necessary?
Tasastock says, "No, but they are damned fun to play with! You can get a decent camera for a decent price nowadays that will shoot good quality images in the right conditions. Obviously they're not good for low-light or anything capturing movement, but if you handle them right you can make do with an ordinary camera, I've known plenty of people to do so."
SenshiStock says, "I don't know much about cameras, but the best photographs you can take are always going to be the ones that
#PoeticalCondition + a FeatureMy good friend RiseandBe is now the owner of the poetry group :iconPoeticalCondition:. I suppose the original owner couldn't handle it anymore and handed it over to her, I am not quite sure on the details. Anyway, she is looking to better the group in many ways, but needs all the help she can get to whip this place into shape! The Call of Cthulhu (for beginning readers)Howdy friends,The Call of Cthulhu (for beginning readers)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
There has been an exciting development!
A couple of months ago, the folks at Chaosium Inc. [ http://www.chaosium.com/ ], the publishers of the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game, confirmed their desire to publish The Call of Cthulhu (for beginning readers). When I received word I immediately began revising the now almost two-year-old text and illustrations to ensure that the print version is of the highest possible quality. I am currently about a third of the way through this process, and thought it would be good time to let you all know that the oft-requested dead tree edition of this story looks like it is actually becoming a reality.
I continue to be grateful for the encouragement of the folks around here, and I look forward to updating you all with any further news as it arrives.
In the meantime, I'm posting up the pages of The Statement of Randolph Carter (for beginning readers) I was working on when the word came through from Ch

I thought I'd take some screenshots so that everyone can have a better look at what Lucien looks like in Skyrim.Un-ghosted Lucien Lachance in Skyrim Screenshots3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I didn't spend too much time trying to capture cool poses or get great shots. But maybe later when I'm feeling more creative I can take some nicer screenshots. Anyway, click on them to get the full size.
Just for fun, I tried removing Lucien's hood using the console.
AND YESSSSS THEY GOT HIS HAIR RIGHT :h
My unpopular opinion (ironic if I get shot for it)I don't understand those people which see news about angry militant humorless religious people killing people they don't like... and act like this has never happened before. My unpopular opinion (ironic if I get shot for it)4 months ago in Personal More Like This
Go read few chapters in your history books and remember this shit good. If you're surprised about these news now, then wow. Just wow. Is all I'm saying. You expect this lack of knowledge from kids that don't know how to read yet.
To get straight to the point: It doesn't matter whether you are religious or value something else. A sense of humor and respecting somebody's opinion is what everybody needs to do in order to learn from the mistakes of history and presence. Who cares if somebody doesn't like my favorite music, I'll go away from that person and listen to it anyway. They're happy, I'm happy. Somebody makes a joke about something I like? Hey, I'll make more jokes about it! If anything I'll probably make more jokes about things I like than things I hate. When I like a person very much, I tease them and challen

What Am I Talking About?
What is the difference between an embedded deviation and a deviant thumb? Glad you asked. The thumbs have the codes everyone already knows and loves. And if you don't know what I'm on about, then look on the sidebar of your deviation and you will find your thumbcode. These codes can be used in journals, widgets and artist descriptions to link a thumbnail of the deviation.
Literature Gallery Restructure UPDATED GALLERY STRUCTURE PROPOSAL - JULY 29Literature Gallery Restructure2 years ago in Literature Features More Like This
Remember that time there was like a giant discussion about how there should maybe be microfiction and flash fiction and short stories and novella and novel-chapter categories and it was like, whoa that's a lot? Well, we had another discussion and decided to go back to the way things were a long time ago: we're proposing to ditch the length-level categorizations for prose. No more figuring out whether your work is flash fiction, a vignette, or a chapter before submitting.
Original journal below the totally relevant GIF. (Everyone loves it when GRRM does that, right? Right?!)
If you haven't browsed Literature lately, it's a mess. Sure, some of it comes from people whose work truly transcends genres (ever read the Library of Congress classification for Gravity's Rainbow?) and some of it comes from how people choose to interpret certain genres.
But a lot of it comes from people having troub

Discrimination Towards Anime In ART SCHOOL!So i just read an artical, and saw alll the negitive responses, about a particular cammy drawing. You can check it out for youself. But basically they were over critisizing a beautiful drawing. It was the first time I chimed in. But i Thought i'd share this with you as well, since deviantart is where the true art community lives.Discrimination Towards Anime In ART SCHOOL!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Little description of what i talk about. I talk about the "hater-ade" culture i experienced in ART SCHOOL. Discrimination towards ANIME! And BASHING ON OTHER PEOPLE! This includes TEACHERS WHO HATED on students. And let me put a disclaimer out there because I didnt mention it, 80% of the ART TEACHERS(not talking about the liberalarts teachers, pyschology, math, english etc.) were absolutely amazing, and I love them. 5% were so so. ANd the 15% or so left were of the hating decent.

How to improve your skills in close-up-photographySince many people asked me how I take my pictures and why they are so "special", I would like to tell you how I manage things when I take pictures. How to improve your skills in close-up-photography2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I. Finding the location
When I go outside to take pictures of nature, I do barely have any concepts in my mind. I just go and let nature inspire me. The first important step is finding a location. It is not that difficult to find an interesting background. I personally do prefer backgrounds which are not monochrome. Many shades of light (light and dark contrasts or different colors) make your picture interesting, no matter if the final result will be monochrome or colorful in the end.I look out for locations where not many people are. Like a big meadow in front of a house or a field or forests. (Forests do have the special plus that it does almost always have different light shadings I mentioned in 2).
II. Know your possibilities!
You have found your favourite location? Great! Many people do the mistake to
Unintentional JabsMost of the time it is better that people don't know that deep dark secret. But then again it can cause problems. Haven't you noticed? There's the girl who cringes at rape jokes, flinches at any body contact.
She was once raped.
The boy who declines alcohol quicker than most, begs you not to drink too much.
His father was an alcoholic.
The girl who cowers in fear when you raise your voice, raises her hands in defense.
Her parents use to beat her.
The boy who flinches at the word faggot, asks you not to use it.
He's gay and his father doesn't approve.
You can never be too careful when it comes to someone's feelings.
