INFO: Name: Gem Age: 10 Gender: Female Alignment: Neutral Hero Story: The only daughter of the Prodigy Sorceress, Matilda. However, she has a long way from becoming a great spell caster, but nevertheless she appears to possess potential that could surpass even her mother. She is also best friends with the young Hero, Iron Tail, and together they become one of the inseparable duos out there. She dreams of becoming the greatest Sorceress of all time, and with the Spell Book given to her by her mother, that dream may just be within her grasp! Her enthusiasm and optimism is rivaled only by her best friend, Iron Tail, and has a friendly rivalry with him as to who would achieve their dream first. However, there's something about her lineage that she herself isn't aware of... but may come to haunt her one day.
So, it turns out that ~CosmicNarwhal has decided to give Gem a revamp on her design so I had to change what I could from the sketch I already drew of her. Seeing as this was meant to be her birthday present and the fact that she's allowed me to use her character for about three years now, it's only respectful that I also update Gem's appearance in my style and Iron's story. Of course, this isn't 100% accurate to the change but I'll at least try to draw her in her new design from now on. For everyone who is wondering how she looks like right now, hop onto her gallery and you can't miss it!
Also, I'm glad ~CosmicNarwhal has said she's thought of her own new ideas for Gem already and I can't wait to hear what they are and how it would affect the character in Iron's world! That, and I think her current design now does make her more distinguishable from the other characters. I've also changed her title to "Heroine", because technically she is the second protagonist in the story and I don't want people to mistake her as some sort of 'sidekick' xD
INFO: Name: Chai Age: 14 Gender: Female Alignment: Chaotic Hero Story: She believes in Iron Tail; she believes in his dream of becoming the new Great Hero; she believes that his adventures will one day be remembered by many... and Goddess help us if she will not be the first one to write about them. Critically criticizing the historians of long past for not 'writing enough' about the fabled Great Hero a thousand years ago, she has decided to plan way ahead for the next Hero of the world: Iron Tail himself. She will not shy away from any detail - though despite this, she tends to exaggerate some of her writing, calling it her 'artistic touch'. And no one except a chosen few is allowed to read what she writes... unless they wish to get their heads done in by her trusty hammer. But where does she keep taking out that hammer from...?
And here's an interesting character to say the least. Chai is perhaps one of the shortest characters (I believe) among the main cast but she can pack quite a punch with her hammer (God knows where she summons up the strength to lift it in the first place let alone swing it). So don't let her appearance fool you! This character belongs to *Star-Feather and we joked many times what her role would be in Iron Tail's adventures, but most of it is based on what if Iron Tail was a video game.
She would be that character you always have to go to for Game Saving (which would be shown as her writing in her book) and even storing items, where we can only assume she stores them all in her hammer space afro. I swear there's a black hole in there... Me and another friend also thought of the possibility that she may be a distant cousin to Rem (my Sonic Fan Character who has been recently added to the Iron Tail cast as a villain) with neither of them actually realizing it, which is probably why she seems to have so much strength.
INFO: Name: Iron Tail Age: 10 Gender: Male Alignment: Neutral Hero Story: The protagonist and the appropriately called 'Hero' of the story. Born and raised in a village located far away from the rest of the world, the boy chose to venture outside to chase after his dream of becoming the Greatest Hero of All Time, following the footsteps of the 'Great Hero' from a thousand years ago. Chosen by the powerful, magical relic known simply as 'The Bracelet', Iron Tail is granted magical abilities that will help him overcome countless foes and obstacles and if not those, he always has his powerful tail to knock either of them away! Naive and childish to a fault, but still a Hero with the Heart of Gold! The road to being the next Great Hero is a long and difficult one, but he's set on making it through to the end!
What I hope is a start of me finishing more of my pictures, here's Iron Tail, the character most of my watchers would be familiar with! The character's concept is pretty simple: he's a kid who dreams of becoming a great Hero.
Oh, and he has a powerful and magical relic stuck around his big tail.
Not exactly the most complicated character I have (to make younger watchers relate to him easily), but his growth/development all depend on the characters around him. The character goes back to the good ol' days when our Hero game characters don't need a complicated back story to be likable (Sonic the Hedgehog, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Klonoa, Rayman) - it's what they do that matters! You know what they say:
“Any fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage - to move in the opposite direction.”
I think that was a quote from Einstein but don't quote -me- on that xD
One of my goals is to one day draw up a comic (still gotta work a LOT on the anatomy) or write a story starring Iron Tail. Not exactly the biggest and most hopeful goals out there but... one can try, right?
INFO: Name: Ashes "The Iron Maiden" Darkmare Age: 28 Gender: Female Alignment: Chaotic Hero Story: Known as the unbeatable champion who won the Hero's Tournament twice in a row (the first for any champion), fans have given her the nickname 'Iron Maiden' for her great endurance, strength and beauty. Unlike her twin sister Sehsa Nightmare, Ashes fights with honor and respects tradition, and refuses to take advantage of her physical beauty to gain any advantage whatsoever. She also does not believe in using weapons in battle, believing that the body is anyone's strongest arsenal. Acts as both Iron Tail's mentor and guardian, she hopes to raise him into becoming the Hero he always dreams of. Don't let her looks fool you though: she's quite the powerhouse!
And speaking of Ashes (from the previous picture), here's the 'Iron Maiden' herself now! And guess who owns her and her sister now (well, at least their 'Iron Tail versions')? That's right, the Eagle himself! I thought it was fair since every single bit of their concepts in Iron's world - right down to their back stories and fighting styles - were done by me. Just wanna say that I do like the kind of female characters that are independent and strong. Ashes is meant to be an example who could be a character used for many fan services, but I chose to make the fact that she's a fighter to properly describe her instead. What I also enjoy in the character is the 'little things' of her personality: like how she thinks it's more polite for Iron Tail to bow a little when walking past an adult, or that it's more respectful to point at someone with the thumb.
Other than that, it's her inner struggle accepting the fact that she can't give birth to the child she always wanted, but choosing to care for Iron Tail like he was her own son - just that idea can speak volumes on how tricky it can be for her to separate the relationship of teacher and student, from mother and child.
INFO: Name: Minu Age: 16 Gender: Female Alignment: Lawful Hero Story: Born and raised to become the next High Priestess of her kingdom, Minu does not but longs for a chance to explore the world and not be restricted by the rules of her religion. While she had gotten the chance of traveling with Iron Tail (who at the time did not know she was a priestess in training), she also comes to realize that her responsibility as the people's 'light' goes beyond her personal desires, and that people need her to guide them as their symbol of hope. Therefore, Minu chose to sacrifice the life she wants, to lead a life for the greater good, but has admitted that she has at least committed one wrong: lying to Iron Tail (she promised him that she would one day be able to travel with him again, but in reality she would have to stay in the holy city for her whole life).
So here's Minu, another one of the minor characters in Iron Tail's world. While she is the typical lawful good character, she can be considered tragic. Her story is mostly about 'Responsibility over Desire' because while she is religious in more ways than one, she constantly wishes to lead a life similar to Iron Tail's: free. There's also that little irony that while she encourages people to -be- 'free', she herself is trapped within her own little cage in a holy city. It does make you wonder if she will be stuck with that life forever or will she ever finally find the freedom she longs for so long. In a way, she's a bigger hero than Iron Tail because she understands her responsibilities completely and accepts them despite not personally enjoying them - something Iron Tail himself still has to learn!
She is definitely hated by Sehsa Nightmare, who simply hates to see such a pure person, and it even sometimes become a vendetta for the villain to corrupt her completely.
On a lighter note, Iron Tail actually has a very little crush on her xD
INFO: Name: Bracelet Age: 1000 (?) Gender: Undefined Alignment: Neutral Story: Perhaps the only evidence to the Great Hero's existence was the Bracelet, but inside the relic lurks an unknown entity manifested from all the magic. Taking on the form Iron Tail is most comfortable with, she is simply named 'Bracelet' by the young Hero - though that in itself speaks volumes of what she might be capable of. Only Iron Tail can see and speak with her though but her existence has been proven from all the magic granted to the boy. She seems to share Iron's personality and appearance to an extent (proven that she adopts these depending on her owner), but her true alignment is debatable. If there's one thing that's certain though: if it wasn't for her magic, Iron Tail wouldn't be the Hero he is now!
Here's one character I was first unsure of but learned to like, but mostly because of both her potential as Iron Tail's biggest support, and Iron Tail's biggest threat. Why is she a threat? Because she's not exactly a 'Hero'. She only follows/adopts Iron Tail's personality, but if I have to describe her, she's more close to an animal: she doesn't have much moral judgement but is instead guided mostly by instincts. A possibility is that Bracelet could easily take over Iron Tail's body (refer to the previous 'Overtaken' picture) but it's either she doesn't want to, or she just doesn't know she could. The Overtaken form is most definitely Iron Tail's strongest form (despite the fact his mind is taken over by Bracelet), but even Ashes warns Iron Tail not to use it too much because she secretly fears Bracelet will one day take over him completely. She's possibly one of the strongest characters in the story due to the fact that she is the Bracelet itself.
In her revamped version, she can appear outside of the Bracelet, but Iron Tail is still the only one who can see and talk to her (via his mind), and she can only go as far as three feet away from him. You can either sympathize with her or be afraid of her, but she's definitely the one that makes Iron Tail the hero he is now.
INFO: Name: Des Age: 14 Gender: Female Alignment: Lawful Hero Story: The only survivor after her entire tribe - including her older brother - was slaughtered by outsiders, Des was later released from her crystallized imprisonment by none other than Iron Tail... 50 years later. While quiet and shy, her magical abilities are unique because she's one of the only ones who has access to them (the magic she uses are considered 'ancient' or 'forgotten'). She specializes in Protection Spells, mostly by surrounding herself or her friends in a magical bubble. While she was at first antagonistic towards Iron Tail after recovering her memories, she atones for her past betrayal by swearing complete loyalty to her new friends and allies, especially Iron Tail. She currently travels the world in search of any other survivors of her tribe.
And here come's Des! I think the one thing I like about the change I gave her is the way she talks: she doesn't have a full grasp of the Common Language used (English) and I can't help but picture how adorable it would look for her to talk to other characters - while at the same time saying things in her own language that no one else understands. While her age is stated here as '14' though, she's technically '64' because she was frozen in a crystal for 50 years. She's one of the more tragic and emotionally-driven characters in the story, but nevertheless she is incredibly loyal and acts like a 'guardian' to most of the characters.
A guardian is one who protects and watches over others. While Iron Tail does do that as a 'Hero', I always think that Des, who has actually lost many people dear to her, would understand a lot more about the values of life and will be more protective of them. That, and given the magic she's capable of, it's fitting that she'd be called 'The Guardian'.
She shares a close bond with Iron Tail, and has a sister-like relationship with Gem.
INFO: Name: Evil Tail Age: 1000 (?) Gender: Male Alignment: Neutral Villain Story: Every Hero needs a Villain, and for Iron Tail that villain is none other than Evil Tail. Like the young Hero himself, his goal of conquering the world simply comes from the belief that it's his destiny as a villain. After a thousand years of being sealed away, the former tyrant known as the 'Great Evil' is now ready to continue what he couldn't many years back. However, he will need a Hero to watch him finally achieving his ultimate victory... and that Hero is Iron Tail.
And here comes the villain of the story! Evil Tail doesn't go far in terms of design seeing as he's physically the 'opposite' of Iron Tail himself, but what makes him significant is his rivalry with Iron Tail and how he actually -needs- Iron Tail to be around to identify himself as the villain. The two see each other as enemies simply because of what they see themselves as, but since his debut their rivalry only goes deeper and somewhat complicated. Iron Tail has to live with the fact that he accidentally gave Evil Tail his current body, and Evil Tail himself has to live with the fact that he'll be reminded of Iron Tail every time he looks in a mirror. It's a rivalry that will not end until one of them comes to an end... but does either one of them actually -want- it to end?
... or do they subconsciously find all this fighting against each other because of their opposing beliefs... 'fun'?
Something I changed in his design is his scarf, which I made to look more torn than usual to reflect his more chaotic nature compared to the honest and pure Iron Tail.
INFO: Name: Carbo Tail Age: 10 Gender: Male Alignment: Chaotic Hero Story: His life is somewhat parallel to Iron Tail's. Both of them were taken in by seasoned warriors, but Carbo's mentor (Fasshon) taught things to him differently. Where Iron Tail was taught by Ashes "The Iron Maiden" Darkmare that Heroes are not above the law, Carbo was taught that Heroes should and can do whatever it takes to stop crime, criminals and villains. In short? He is not afraid to go to places Iron Tail won't go to. To Carbo, the end justifies the means. He is, however, a skilled fighter in his own right using both his unique tail and his sword. Since his mentor considers herself Ashes' rival, it is inherited onto him that Iron Tail should be his rival too. He's also known as quite the pervert towards his own mentor...
This one was loooong overdue. This one belongs to !
I'm not sure yet if there had been any major changes in the character or not, but my original take on him was that Carbo would be an 'Anti-Hero': a Hero who's not afraid to kill. If anything, his relationship with Iron Tail could be like Wolverine's is to Cyclops: both are Heroes, but one of them is against killing. Of course, we all know neither way is a perfect solution to anything and that there will always be consequences. Anyways, here's Carbo!
